Just got II! Complete in August, IS
LizzyM~70, my interview date is Feb 11th. They called me and said there was a cancelation and I was next on the list for an II so they offered me the spot and I took it. There was no mention of other dates.Congrats! Would you mind sharing stats and your approximate II date? Thanks!
I've been on the waitlist for almost 8 weeks and heard nothing, and I don't think anyone else in this thread has posted about being in off the waitlist. You can check past year's threads, but I don't think it's looking good for us :/Anyone know about asking where a deferred student is on the waitlist.?I know they say they review applicants every two weeks, but there must be some kind of ranking system
Do we know if there are still interview dates available?I got really excited when I saw an email from OSU admissions this morning, but it was just to acknowledge that they'd received my update letter. Hoping for a late II at OSU!
Do we know if there are still interview dates available?
I have heard many times that they interview all the way into April!Do we know if there are still interview dates available?

Congratulations!!!!!Received a call from Dr. Capers last night and got the official word on the applicant link today - ACCEPTED!
Enjoy. It was my favorite place I interviewed.Just got an II!!! One of my top choices. Complete in September, LizzyM 72, OOS but with ties to Columbus
Same hereHaven't heard anything yet, complete in Sept, but still hopeful!
It's hard to pinpoint it exactly, but there's just something special about it!!!interviewed here today! Absolutely amazing. Everyone was so great. Def my top choice now.
I absolutely agree, although I think the collaborative and welcoming environment is a big part of that appeal. I'm very much hoping for a call from Dr Capers late Monday/very early Tuesday. It's hard to pinpoint it exactly, but there's just something special about it!!!

@Celdurant, now you've got me all teary-eyed!I think the sentiment is a difficult one to capture in words, but it is also perfectly conveyed in our Alma Mater. I encourage anyone who hasn't heard it or seen it sung by the student body to feel free to look up "Carmen Ohio" on Youtube.
"How firm thy friendship" is more than just a line in a song here.

I was looking at their stats. Last year they accepted 52% of the people they interviewed! That's the highest I've ever heard of! Seems like almost half the class comes off waitlist so hang in there. I find out march 10th...if I get deferred I'll stay positive!
I was looking at total number of acceptances! I think it was 382 accepted out of 734 interviews for a class of 188 so obviously a huge number off the wait list! There are definitely places with higher acceptance rates! Also I'm not sure if you were looking at # of matriculants vs. # of interviews, or actual stats for % accepted. The # of actual matriculants is always less than the # of accepted applicants. But you are right in saying that OSU takes a lot of people from the waitlist compared to other schools, so that's a clear positive!
My mind is churning on OSU today, so I browsed MDApps.Has anyone that was initially deferred later been accepted so far this cycle?
Have merit scholarships gone out yet? Surprised no one on SDN has reported getting one.
Nah nothing new. Just have outlines for maybe like the 5 most common interview questions and brush up on your experiences so you have examples to pull from. It's very relaxed and conversational. I find the best way to interview is to prepare like crazy and then when interview time comes...completely forget all your preparation and just have a conversation.Does anyone who have interviewed already have any tips for how they wish they would have prepared or said more of? Or if anyone just has some more advice - I can't get enough 🙂
I'm starting to go mildly crazy wondering if I'll ever get off the deferred list. I really, really want to 🙁 The worst case scenario is if I get off the deferred list, but after it's too late to choose OSU (already moved to another school, partner found a new job elsewhere, etc.).
I guess I'll just try to focus on the fact that I have other acceptances. I do know I'm incredibly lucky. 🙂
That's true. I also went through the previous year's thread, and I agree... they pretty much just start pulling people around that deadline. I really did love OSU. (Though I found out yesterday about that urology residency lawsuit and now I'm wondering if maybe I should just take a different acceptance and run with it... probably will wait it out though... it was just one crazy attending.)I will chime in here and say that I am hesitant to remain on the deferred list here because after skimming previous threads it seems that very few (if any) get in before the last day for multiple acceptances. I have a spouse/family to move, so waiting until mid May isn't much of an option for me. That being said, you may have connected with OSU more than I did so that could tip the scales a little.

I don't know how I came across this thread yesterday, but I subsequently Googled it:say what??? link?
It was hard to say what the earliest time was people began receiving calls from, based on previous posts.Anybody have an idea on the next round of calls if those are still happening?
