11/14 interview here - still silence on email and portal has not changed.

Has anyone ever heard of pre-interview hold at OHSU? I have heard of that at a lot of other schools, but never OHSU. What does this mean?!?!
The portal says, "Your file has been screened and is currently on hold for an interview, pending further review. Due to the competitiveness and size of the applicant pool, some applicants are placed on hold until the entire pool has been assessed. As soon as a final decision has been made we will notify you immediately. This decision may not be rendered until February."

Yeah if you look through previous years some people eventually got interviews and some didn't. I don't think you can draw much from that status unfortunately.
 
Hey everyone, I interviewed on 1/28, IS, I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their interview experience and for the advice, it really helped me. OHSU has been the only school to contact me for an interview so far, what a nerve-racking experience. I keep checking the portal... haha although I know it will be weeks before I hear anything. you guys are awesome and I wish you the best, 🙂
OHSU is amazing. I hope we all get in!

Anyone interviewing on 2/12 or 2/13. I get in early on 2/12 and have tons of time to kill around the city if anyone wants to meet up to grab some voodoo donuts and roam around town.
 
II for the MD/MPH!!! YASSSS! I'm SO nervous though! This is my #1 CHOICE! And I can't believe I have this opportunity!! :soexcited:

Has anyone interviewed with the MPH program already? Was it a conversational interview with standard questions about public health? And this will be the first MMI interview for me...does anyone have any words of advice on how to prep for it?
 
WEEEEE! II yesterday evening around 1645!! OOS from CA, half URM, LizzyM~68-70, non-trad, tons of shadowing/clinical exp.

Secondary submitted 8/28, complete as of 9/30. Two interview dates at end of February and one in the first week of March. Waiting anxiously to hear back which one I'll get to know if I will be forking over a ton of money for last-minute flights, or just driving for 10 hours...

Congrats! The MPH interview was pretty conversational. I felt warmed up and ready to go after the MMI. Most of the questions were pretty standard and things you will expect. I would recommend reflecting on why you want to go for the MPH and how you see that affecting your career in the future. I'm not sure what your schedule will be like, but I had the MMI in the morning followed by the tour and then the MPH part, so I was pretty tired out by that interview. Be prepared for a long day and you should be fine!

As for the MMI, there should be lots of tips on this thread, but everyone recommended reviewing topics on this website: https://depts.washington.edu/bioethx/topics/

This site also has tips for practicing the MMI and some sample questions: http://multipleminiinterview.com/mmi-questions/
Honestly, I did not do a whole lot of MMI-specific prep and I felt fine. Just try to relax and consider the questions carefully. Best of luck 🙂

Thank you so much! My interview is in about a week and I'm starting to feel the nerves kick in. I wish I could just shake my interviewer's hand and then beg him/her to let me in because I love this school so much...but I have a feeling that it would be inappropriate.

But thank you for your tips! Just hearing about your experience calmed me down. 🙂
 
Looks like the notification date got pushed back to late February now. Maybe something magic can happen in the next couple weeks, but it's not looking too good.

Does this mean they will inform regarding post interview status also ? I just noticed the change for notification date.
 
So earlier this week, the portal said I was played on pre-II hold...but now that message is gone. Has this happened to anyone else?

Me too! It has caused a significant amount of end-of-the-interview-season freaking out and muttering to myself. (I need to take a breath and try not to be so neurotic!) You want to question it and freak out with me? In the end, we have NO IDEA what is happening and are all just guessing in the dark to freak ourselves out more. But hey it does pass the time better than the silence doesn't it... 🙂
