2014-2015 Oregon Health & Science University Application Thread

Surprised that none of the Dec. 19 group posted anything. That makes 8 weeks post interview for in state! Here is my preference: accept, reject, waitlist in that order. Don't think I can wait until summer and this is after being complete back in late August. Good luck to u all---those who are waiting for II or post II decision or those on hold.

Did the December 19 people hear then and not post?

I thought at least one person would post given another person from 12/12 did post some news last week but I have not heard anything on my side and was just wondering if it was just me or everyone else (granted not everyone posts on sdn!). Hopefully we can hear something this week!

I hate to stir anything up, but I'm a 11/14 interviewer that hasn't had a change in portal and no emails.

Wow good luck. Are they going in a random order? I thought a 12/12 interviewer got accepted ?

I'm over here counting down to 8 weeks but looks like I'll have to wait MUCH longer than that given everyone else's experiences for the most part....I think it just really depends on if your one-on-one interviewer is able to meet with the committee that week and it seems like Graywolf's interviewer went on vacation lol Good luck everyone!

I interviewed 12/17 and I haven't heard anything. I'm hoping for a decision this week but we will see... I will update on here when it comes through.

I have a quick question, I just sent a second update to OHSU talking about some more stuff I've been involved in this year, and today i received notification that another paper i was involved in has just been accepted for publication. Should I send them another update or see if they haven't already processed the one I sent them on sunday night? Thanks!

Have you been offered an interview? I think they only take app updates when you send in interview date preferences

So did we come to a consensus on which interview dates they have made a decision about?

No it is all up in the air! Some who interviewed back in November or even early December got some news while others in the same date range did not hear anything. I am hoping we hear something after waiting 2+ months post interview!

So who are you people? We're all creeping this board, might as well have some conversation. I'm 26, have been out of college for a few years, and currently work as a CNA in a hospital. Flu season has been insane this year, infinite pneumonia. This is my first time applying, and it all seems to be coming down to this school. Equal parts terrifying/exciting, as I'm sure you guys can relate

Born in Portland, raised in Eugene, currently a college senior in Vermont! Want nothing more than to come home, go to one of the country's best medical schools, and do some research on the side. Maybe it's an endowment effect, maybe it's chauvinism, but Oregon has the best food and I miss Oregon culture and all that comes with it.

Born in Eugene, now live up in Beaverton. I'm a sales manager at a Toyota store. Non-trad at 32. Love OHSU and the Portland area. I agree about the food, we are pretty lucky here! Great food, great atmosphere! Hope you get to come home MiddKid.

In Eugene right now. And that's awesome about Vermont, never been to the east coast. Is the culture really that different over there?

When did you graduate? Congrats on getting in by the way, that must have been such a ridiculously good day

Graduated in June of 2014, You?

I really can't explain the feeling of getting in, just overwhelming in a good way. I was lucky enough to be out to lunch with my wife when I got the news. I jumped out of the booth and yelled! Probably scared the snot out of everyone else at the restaurant!

Hope everyone gets the good news!

Hold today.
Interviewed 12/17. LizzyM 70. OSS.
Thankful to be still under consideration!
I hope there is some truth to 80% of applicants being put on hold post-interview.

After being complete since August 1st, they finally rejected me. Good luck to everyone else!

You meant 12/19? Good luck though because you still have a shot.

11/14 interview finally on hold! Contributing to that 80%!

Good luck! I looked over the threads from the last 3 years at OHSU and there is a lot of movement post interview hold. Remember the stats: 525 interviews for ~225-250 acceptance offers. Stay positive !

Actually 12/17. I made a mistake in that previous post I wrote.
Oh, that is interesting because they also interviewed us on 12/19 which explains why they are so behind with decisions. My group had about 18 students and I would imagine with yours it makes about 40 students. Pnwu can handle interviewing 125 kids on same day and can make decision after only a week (happened to me) but I am not sure about OHSU. Regardless, good luck and wish me luck because they might decide on me this week! It is almost like dooms day!

Just checked the portal for the thousandth time after @john3298's post. Rejected as well. Marked complete August 25.

hey I am a CNA also!! I am a CNA 2 and work for an agency that contracts with Providence and Kaiser, so I float around the med surg units. I live in Portland. 25 years old. Have a BS in chem. Born and raised in Eugene. So happy to hear about all of you guys living in and/or from eugene. 🙂 hopefully we can meet in person as the new incoming class wink wink... still waiting waiting

Interviewed 1/30, put on hold 2/19. Pretty quick turnaround, glad to be in the 80% group. (IS) April 30th is so far away...

Sorry to hear the hold, but welcome to the group. Glad to see they are moving more on decisions. Been on hold since December. April can't come soon enough.

Sorry to hear! and @john3298.. is this message in the message board? I have also been checking a bunch and still have nothing new except a new date to hear by (late Feb). Do you eventually get an email? Thank you.

Hello everybody, I will be interviewing on March 4th and I will be landing there very early on March 3rd. I wanted to explore the area and was wondering if anybody else was interviewing that day and wanted to explore Portland with me a bit. I was thinking of renting a car for part of the day.

Has anyone who got an interview housed with a medical student? How was the experience? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Just interviewed here and hoping for good news! Also been on hold at another university since the end of October, I feel your pain..
