2014-2015 Pennsylvania State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did anyone else NOT complete the post interview survey? Nobody mentioned it during the interview and I literally just saw it... wondering if that hurt my application.
I just interviewed there. Really liked the school. However, I don't remember them saying anything about this...where is the post interview tab for the survey? I can't seem to find it.

Two weeks ago.

And you already received the hold e-mail? Or did I quote the wrong person?

I interviewed there September 10, so I am wondering if I should have gotten the hold e-mail already if I was not going to be accepted.

Does anyone know if Penn State rejects post-interview?

Do you have a "Second Look" tab on your portal? Some people who interviewed the first week have noticed it.

I do not. All I see is the status tab, which still shows the interview confirmation info. Is the "second look" tab necessarily apparent if accepted?

The "second look" tab appeared on either the 15th or 16th for me and I called the school about it recently but was told to "wait a few more days."

Do you know if they send all status updates post-interview via snail mail?

Based on what I'm reading on SDN it seems like post-interview holds are via email.

Acceptances are sent via postal mail and rejections I am not sure about.

When should I expect to hear back if I interviewed last week. My online portal still shows Interview Scheduled even though it was done. How long does it take usually for that status to change?

That will not change. I interviewed on September 8th and mine still says that. I just have the "second look" tab now.

I'm almost at the 6 week from interview mark and still no decision or portal change. Get ready for the ride my friend

They said 8-10 weeks at my interview

Continue to review status pre interview. Anyone know if this is basically an eventual rejection? I think it is
I got the continue to review last year and was accepted after interviewing

I also read some people do get IIs after being on "hold/continue to review" but its pretty rare.

They do indeed reject pre-interview via e-mail as I found out a few days ago lol. Better luck to everyone else.

Interviewed on Sept 8th and also have a "Second Look" tab. For others that have this tab, did you happen to notice the date and year of the Second Look? I didn't initially but yesterday I realized that the second look date on my tab is for entering class of 2014, not 2015. Anyone have the same thing or any thoughts on this?

I have 2014 as well. I am pretty sure it's no big deal.

anyone who interviews in october hear back yet?

Just got the hold email 🙁 They make it sound so hopeful but I feel like its not. Complete 7/30

I know the application website says only transcript updates can be accepted, but has anyone tried uploading or sent in a normal update?

Just got a post interview hold email yesterday - not sure what this means in the admission language. Interviewed 9/15

Can any current student or person who interviewed already comment on financial aid for OOS students?

II this morning! Are the interviews more 'getting to know you and your application' or 'ask ethical questions' type?

I think it really just depends on your interviewer. I wasn't asked many ethical questions, just some things about the affordable care act.

One of my interviewers asked me a bunch of questions about me and my experiences, but the other simply asked me to ask them questions about the program/Hershey.

Penn state practices a pretty holistic review of applicants, even on interview day. I wouldn't expect to be bombarded with difficult ethical questions. Everyone there was extremely nice. This was definitely one of the places at which I interviewed where the "be yourself and relax" advice was actually applicable.

Personally I didn't get ethics questions; no ACA questions either.

I think Penn State really tries to get to know you well from the interviews.

Overall, very relaxed interview day. Everyone is super friendly. Have fun & good luck!

I just interviewed here and I really loved it! Very low key and everyone was super friendly. Can any current students comment on how many sites you rotate through? If you choose the Hershey campus, how many sites do you rotate through or is it just all at Hershey? How far are the sites and do you usually rent a place nearby while rotating there? What are the pros/cons of choosing the Hershey site vs University Park? Thanks!
