ACCEPTED!!!! Honestly can't believe it...coming after 3 WL's and a rejection from some of my top choices this feels absolutely incredible! Congrats to everyone accepted and good luck to wait-listers I think the chances are still great 🙂

Waitlisters don't give up. Apparently because they are super concerned with over enrollment this year, they might have been extra extra cautious. There is still hope!

And big congrats to those who are accepted to such a phenomenal school. Please take me with you~~~

what's the source?

Waitlisted. I'll be withdrawing. Congrats to all who got in and good luck to those also waitlisted!

NO LIMITS, YOU BETTER ADD SOME EXCLAMATION POINTS TO THIS COMMENT! If I'm excited for you – all the way across the continent – then you better be excited yourself!
Sorry haha, I was still in shock and I also wanted to be considerate of the feelings of those who didn't get in today. You're the best!!

In shock! My friend, I think you sometimes confuse your caped and confident true identity with your mild-mannered alter ego, Within Normal Limits. Congratulations!

Congrats to all the acceptances! As for us waitlisters...

Rejected 🙁 congrats to everyone, accepted and WL!

To everyone who didn't get the results they were hoping for today, it is not a reflection of you or your abilities. I got rejected recently from another school, and my interviewer actually called me and told me exactly that. It was helpful for me to know that it wasn't because I didn't rock my interviews. At the end of the day, the AdCom is putting together a class, and it's not always clear exactly what they are looking for. To my fellow accepted students, I'm looking forward to seeing you at Second Look! I just wish I could fast forward to August 10th. It's been a long, windy road to med school for me and I'm ready!!!

ACCEPTED!!'nnn

This was my attempt to contain my excitement, type this post, and walk in Boston weather with no gloves. Huge congratulations to everyone who was accepted, hope to see you at second look! To everyone else, you're all incredible and have gotten into unbelievable schools - it's been one wild year for us.

Congratulations to everyone accepted! If I can say one thing to you guys, its COME TO SECOND LOOK! Its an unbelievable weekend, so much fun, and definitely a sneak peak at things to come.

To those WL and rejected, Quetzalcoatl put it very nicely. You all have most likely gotten into amazing schools, Penn is just trying to put the puzzle pieces together.

As always, PM me with any questions

I'm a chronic misfit.

Ha ha, you're good-humored about it, despite the disappointment. Remember that everyone on the Island of Misfit Toys ended up happy in the end.

Thanks for the encouragement. Med school admissions is a dating game, and nobody likes to be told they aren't quite pretty enough lol

You seem to fit everywhere ! Hopefully when you decide, you will free up some room for me on these waitlists. I'm sure I will be happy wherever I end up, I just don't wanna wait any longer.

Ha ha, true about the dating game.

I keep thinking that with each decision I've managed to beat the odds on another round of Russian roulette. This has resulted in me holding too many spots as of now, so I'm working on dropping schools ASAP, hoping to have a very short list when financial aid all comes in.

You have some great options, that's very considerate of you. I hope you choose UChicago so we can be classmates- you seem like a pretty cool guy.

Took a nap to recover from the bitter news. I did feel better, but I'm not sure if I'll ever fully recover from been waitlisted by the one that means so much to me. I've just been so use to fantasize about going there....I forgot how hard it was to get pass the admission...I've had rejections and whatnot, but this one hit me the hardest. Still teeny tiny bit of hope left though. Just more waiting....

If anybody can get off the waitlist it's you! I understand that it stings 🙁 , but you have so many excellent offers, just keep the big picture in mind and it will make you happy 🙂

Acceptedddd!!!! This is a great feeling. Congrats to all of the accepted. Hope I can come to second look and meet you all.

So for those accepted, it seems like if you're yet to be 100% sure that you'll be matriculating at Penn it would be wise to wait to accept and pay the tuition fee. Would you agree or am I misunderstanding the instructions?

Agree

*edit* I accepted but did not pay the fee. So I half agree.

For current students, what date do most housing leases in the area start? August 1st? Or is it variable?

It's variable. You can definitely find one that starts August, but not all of them do. Mine started in June and I just took the hit since I think I'll be staying there all 4 years. Sometimes you can negotiate with the landlord, especially if you entice them with multi-year leases

@trino I know most students tend to live in University City or West Philadelphia. Is there a big difference between these two areas besides proximity to downtown? I've been to Philadelphia exactly once and don't think I'll be able to stay for the housing tour included in Penn Preview!

Fantastic question! Regardless, you'll hear a lot more about west philly vs center city at second look. There is a difference. Center city is the young/family centered area. It's nice, well kept, and has your average city stuff. West philly is different. I don't want to use hipster in a bad way (because I love hipster areas), but if you think of your typical hipster, that's west philly. A little less well kept, but with really cool things to do, a little closer to school, and cheaper than center city. If you have more questions feel free to ask here or PM me

Anyone know if when Penn flaunts 35 full tuition scholarships on their website they are including the scholarships for MSTPs in that number?

I don't believe they include MSTP since they are paid through Uncle Sam

This may be a strange question, but does the Fin. Aid office require FAFSA/tax documents to award merit scholarships? Or are those separate from the need aid?
