Definitely think I have a chance here...
3.6cGPA, 3.5sGPA, 31MCAT. I only have 30 hours hospital volunteering, but I got 1 publication from my 2 years of research. Only 20 hours shadowing though.

does this school average mcat scores?

I'm not sure, I looked through their website and couldn't find that info.

Does anyone know the pre clinical grading scheme or distance to undergraduate campus?

does this school average mcat scores?
according to MSAR, median overall score is a 31 and median score for each section is a 10. I don't know about average though.

Edit - read your question wrong...don't know about that, sorry!

You can have good numbers and still not get in. I had a 3.8 cGPA, 3.7 sGPA, 31 MCAT, 200+ hours of volunteering, 100+ hours of shadowing, and being published for my reasearch. However, I didn't get an interview here. I would just like to inform everyone that just because your numbers are above average and you have good EC's does not mean you will get accepted or even an interview. It is extremely competitive. Good luck to everyone.

+1
From what I understand, Rush is much more interested in applicants with a good story as opposed to incredible stats but relatively bland all around. First time I applied I had very similar stats but nothing set me apart from everyone else with good stats, shadowing, volunteering, etc.. Seems that generic can be a death sentence.

I'm applying OOS. Excited! Anyone know the prompt from last year?

From last years thread - 1000 characters: Describe personal attributes you possess or life experiences you have had that will enable you to better understand patients with a culture different from your own. Please include your self-reflection on how this experience has changed insights, beliefs, and/or values.
Also according to last year's thread, this secondary was sent out in early July.

EDIT: I don't know if that's 1000 characters letters only or including spaces, sorry!

Fairly certain that it always includes spaces.

Anyone have any idea if we can send extra letters to Rush? Website just talks about what are required letters, not if they will accept extras....

I have read great things about Rush's focus on clinical training, given it's connections with Cook County. Can any MS comment on this? Does this start in MS1, MS2?

MS1 students have opportunities to interact with physicians/faculty that are from Cook County, whether it's in class or in extracurricular activities like shadowing/research. We also have small group sessions that are supposed to gradually prepare us in part for M3/M4 year by working on patient communication skills and learning how to ask focused questions to obtain an accurate patient history.

As Ms-1s, we are paired with a primary care physician and, depending on your level of initiative, what the preceptor is comfortable with and whether the patient is comfortable with an MS, some students get the opportunity to interview patients alone while others take a more reserved approach. I would err on the side of caution and say that offers clinical exposure as MS-1/MS-2s rather than clinical training (semantics, but kind of an important distinction). There are also various student-run clinics that give us opportunities to build on those skills if you want.

Applying OOS. 3.94 GPA and 34 MCAT. Hope I'm interesting enough to get an interview.

Thanks for posting these, TheBestPath!

can you submit this year without rec letters being in? Apparently this was a problem last year. No point in working on it now if my letters wont get there for another week or so..

You need the letters to have a complete application file. They won't review it until you have the letters. Hopefully they come in sooner rather than later! 🙂

0 man they kept it, so they added 2 questions from last year. This secondary is really time consuming 🙁. Idk how I'm going to talk about this without saying "please see my most meaningful activities" lmao.

Just when i thought i finished prewriting...
LOL yeah, if I get this secondary and a whole bunch of others tomorrow or in the next few days, I might do this one last...

Thanks for posting the new questions! Secondarys seem to be trickling in very slowly for me, so I have some down time to write these additional essays. Haven't received this one yet.
