Wow! My interview e-mail straight up said that the final interview date would be Feb 11th. It looks like they changed their mind!! I'm hoping this is a sign that they still have lots of seats to offer! 😛

Oh wow, they did say that - "You will notice Rush will conclude our interview season on Wednesday, February 11th. We hope your calendar allows you to accept our invitation offer and spend one of these final days on our campus."

I was ready for review 7/8, OOS. Heard nothing until II this past Sunday. Email said that they were concluding their interview season 2/18, and the available dates on the portal were 2/4, 2/11, and 2/18. Good luck to all! I'll be there on the 11th!
 
Looks like they're extending a few more interviews. @Ace Khalifa congrats on the II and have fun.

Guess I'm outta the running here! The no updates thing kinda killed me here.

Thanks. I kinda have to go now after Miami alt list. I don't even know how I got this II without any updates.

They don't accept updates. Kinda sucked cause all my pubs were in the last few months.
 
Not sure if this stat has been posted before, so sorry for the repetition if so. I just figured it was worth sharing for those who hadn't seen it.

10,600 applications received this year. 435 interviews and matriculating 126.

I'm going to send an email with the questionnaire requesting the Student Housing the night before. If I can find a host I will do that so I get the chance to pester the med student with all my questions XD Otherwise I'll be staying at the Marriot Chicago at Medical District so I can get the discount for being there for the interview.

Have you been to Chicago before? If not I would be happy to show you around the city the night before! I'm from Iowa and I manage to make my way to Chicago a few times a year.

I'm most likely gonna just do that hotel instead of trying to get a student host. I'll be driving into the city since I'm currently in STL. Depending on how early in the morning I leave STL, I could be in Chicago anytime between 12pm to 4pm. No, I haven't been to Chicago before, and I would love to do some touring the night before!

So basically they're very serious about who they choose to interview. Welp, I guess I can't screw this one up lol.

I spent a summer at Wash U a few years back and absolutely loved St. Louis! I miss the summer bands downtown and my favorite place had to be that four story building that was basically a giant jungle gym downtown. Good times. Be happy to show you around Chicago! I'm heading to Galena for some snowboarding in the morning but I should be to Chicago around the same time (3pm-5pm). I'll PM you my cell.

Dang. So 435 is their estimated cap for this year? Does anyone know how many they have given out already? And how full the class is at this point? I am still expecting a silent rejection from here, but I would just be curious to know.
 
I'm interviewing on February 18th. It is the last day for interview and it looks like I am interviewing for a waitlist spot. I guess it is better than nothing.

Wrong. If you had bothered to look back in this thread, you would have seen that someone else received an II and had March dates available for them to schedule.
 
Rejected pre-II, complete way back in sunny July. Best of luck to all of the rest of you!

Thanks, I'm ok, though! I knew I wasn't the best fit for Rush. If you're curious who is the best fit, this was in their rejection:

"The Committee values ongoing involvement in community service activities, significant exposure to the healthcare field (especially when it involves patient contact), research experience, and demonstrated leadership."

I think I was probably deficient in the first category, which I've heard in the past is very important to Rush.
 
I rock in the community service department and no word yet but I'm not holding my breath haha
 
I had good community service experience and leadership from my service fraternity back in college (currently in gap year) but obviously I haven't continued that. I have minimal hospice care volunteering this year, yet they still invited me for interview (albeit pretty late). I think it's safe to say that it's not enough to JUST have community service experience for Rush to consider you, but it's definitely important.

But you didn't really have any research, so they're not looking for people to have had everything all the time ya know.
 
Is it just me or do you also think that their website's format needs some updating. To me the website looks a little run-down compared to other medical school's website format, which makes me wonder about how well the administration is run.

+8 . I was pretty sure Rush was one of the true silent rejection schools, but apparently they have changed their ways. I do appreciate them not making me hold my breath anymore.

They are very much aware of how atrocious their website is. It was brought up during the interview day. Supposedly a new website is in the works. They printed out EVERYTHING about the school to give us in paper because they knew it would be near impossible for us to find the information on the website lol

I am proficient in every category listed here, so here's to hoping for some love... though they don't seem to be in much of a Rush to meet me

This rings pretty true for me. I've got +2500 hours in community service activities, loads of exposure, +2000 research hours, and tons of leadership in several areas. I focused so much on those things I didn't always focus on my grades as much as I should have my first few years in undergrad. The balancing act is always difficult when it seems that admissions groups all want so many different things at the same time. Ultimately I just go with what I think will match my interests, be instructive, and have a positive impact on my ability to be a physician in the future.
