2014-2015 Temple University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Interviewing on Wednesday, and I'm extremely nervous, my first II too...hoping for the best. I've heard the interviews are chill but still haha.
Also what did you guys do to prepare for the interview? I've read up on Temple and reviewed my secondary and AMCAS. Not sure what else to do.
Know your application well, my faculty interviewer made an outline of my application and very methodically went through all of it with me. He was also very curious to know about what I considered failures in my life/application and my take away from them

Hey guys I tried to scan the thread for the answer to this question but did not seem to figure out the answer. I have been in the under review status since about August 15th and I am wondering if the status changes to anything else....is there a hold status or does it go straight into an interview or a rejection? Thanks!

+4 😴

has anyone been accepted/heard anything that interviewed 10/29?

It seems the cut-off for the last admissions round was 10/28 (just my luck 😛)

A bit late to the party but I was accepted October 17th and interviewed on Sept 24th. Lizzy M = 74.

Keep your hopes up! If you interviewed recently send them thank you notes!

Hey Everyone. So I've been lurking here for a while. I interviewed on 10/07 and haven't heard back yet. Now I'm starting to get nervous since people who interviewed early October have reported getting acceptances. Do you guys have any idea if this is warranted?

Interviewed the same day as you and still have not received any notifications from Temple. When I phoned them they mentioned that they have been behind on committee meetings for a while now but said we should be hearing back very soon. We are still in the 6-8 weeks hearing back period so no need to worry yet!

Did anyone who was accepted send their transcripts to temple? I sent mine a while back but never received a confirmation

Received an email with my acceptance!!!! Didn't think my faculty interview went that well, but I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought!! So excited! I can't wait to get more information in the mail, I almost feel like it's a prank haha.

Edit: I interviewed the week of 10/20

Interviewed 10/8 and still have not heard back. extremely frustrating

You both have likely been put on the continuing candidate list (aka waitlist of sorts).

"Some candidates may be placed on the continuing candidate list after interview. An applicant’s placement on the continuing candidate list is confidential and will not be shared with the applicant.
Applicants placed on the continuing candidate list after interview will be considered after April 30th through Orientation in August."

Accepted! Interviewed 10/1, its been a long wait. And just to reassure those still waiting, two rounds of acceptances went out since I interviewed and I got accepted on the third one today so a delayed response doesn't necessarily mean wait list.

In response to this message, I ended up calling the admissions office to get some clarification. This by no means entails that we will not hear back until april 30th with no message from the admissions department. We will all get a decision to us in the weeks following our interview and will be told if placed on this continuing list. I personally interviewed on Oct. 7th and am dying to hear back. The lady at the front desk informed me that its perfectly normal I haven't heard back yet and I should get a response after thanksgiving. The wait time can exceed the typical 6-8 weeks they gave us unfortunately... Lets hang in there everyone!

Thank you! I am waiting too, so this is what I assumed happened. Glad you called 🙂

continued candidate list :depressed:
figured, though, worst interview ive had.

are waitlist decisions sent by email as well? interviewed 11/4 and still waiting to hear back!

nothing for me either; expecting to be waitlisted though - interview couldn't have gone any worse even if I had tried

Sorry if this was already asked, but I can't find it. Was everyone's CCL letter written like it was great news? I guess they're letting us down easy, but no other school seems to do that...

Waitlist as well. I thought my interview went fairly well... So we shouldn't expect to hear back until April the earliest, is that right?

Can any current students comment on the financial aid here/ how generous they are? Do merit scholarships exist? The average indebtedness listed by the MSAR seems too high (~$206k).

i'm waitlisted as well. according to the letter, we won't hear back until april through august of next year. however, i do know that students get off the temple waitlist each year, so let's stay positive!

Did anyone else find the wording of the CCL letter to be odd? First being so positive and then stating, "this anxiety may increase as the interval lengthens between the interview and an eventual acceptance." Seemed pretty weird to me.

For everyone questioning the wording of the CCL letter, it is odd and somewhat misleading. I interviewed at Temple last year and was told that they did not take any applicants off of the CCL the previous year and we're going to make sure that they took people off of it last year. I was put on the CCL last year and if you look through last year's thread, there was not much if any movement off of the list like the prior year. Realistically, it's not as great of a list to be on, but you do still have a chance depending on how many spots if any open up by April 30 and beyond.

I wonder if being waitlisted earlier in the cycle gives you a better chance at a possible acceptance vs being waitlisted later in the cycle... Does anyone (especially current med students) care to comment?

That doesn't make sense to me. Either they'll rank the waitlist or replace people to keep the class demographics similar.

For those of you recently waitlisted, when did you interview?
