Anymore Army acceptance? I wonder how many wait list from army gets acceptance?
In some years past it has been common for EVERY person on the Army wait list to be accepted. Other years are less friendly. It all depends on a large variety of factors which unfortunately are hard to predict until after the fact.

Don't lose faith yet friend!

Whats your opinion on the Navy waitlist movement? @Glycereine

Whats your opinion on the Navy waitlist movement? @Glycereine
Cautiously optimistic.

The Navy waitlist has historically moved a bit slower than the others but is also hard to truly tell from SDN alone. I am going off information from current and former students as well as questions I asked or heard others ask during interview day.

Based on SDN there has already been more movement Navy waitlist this year than there was all of last year. That said, you know that cannot actually be the case, which brings to light the importance of the recognition of the fact that we (SDNers) are not an accurate cross-section of the total pool of applicants or even of those on the waitlist.

Last year was apparently a much slower waitlist than normal for all services which could mean this year will be better, or could mean that waitlist movement in general is on a downturn. Unfortunately I can't predict it 🙁

I know that was more than you probably wanted for an answer but my initial two words remain.

I am patiently waiting with my phone and hoping to hear it ring/vibrate soon.

Best of luck!

Congrats to everyone who got in!!

If anyone reading this is a current USU student, I have a couple of questions about the school that I would like to ask!

Hey does anyone know the requirements for pft for the air force? I've looked up a couple sites but they all say something different. I just want to see where I stand.

Current USUHS student here: a few of us are putting an officer training advice/FAQ document together for the incoming AF folks- are you on the class of 2019 FB page yet? it'll be linked there later this week with that information and more!
but if you're dying to know in the meantime, the official physical fitness standards for the Air Force can be found here. See you in the fall!

Feelgood Inc- feel free to send me a message and I'll do my best to answer whatever questions you have!

None today? The wait is killing me... 🙁 Hard balancing hope and realism *sigh* Let's hang in there everyone!
Pulling for you! Don't lose hope yet. We're only a few days into May and a lot can still change over the next few weeks. Do your best to stay busy and distract yourself from this soul-sucking process. I found exercise to be helpful. Go outside! Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the med school admissions stress has shortened my life expectancy by at least 5 years. 😉

Sound advice that I gave many others earlier in this process. Perhaps time to heed my own words and stay away from SDN for a while or at least until I get a phone call. As time draws on my optimism is waning.

Definitely don't lose hope!! I have heard stories of people getting in as late as August and into the first week of orientation!! Stay positive everyone!!

IDK if this is the correct thread, but I am just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation. I was open and upfront with my HPSP recruiter that I would be applying to USUHS and how I had been Wait Listed. Now that the time is getting farther and farther from 30-April he is pressuring more to sign for HPSP. He is stating that as a lot of students start getting accepted off wait lists at other schools and now can do HPSP (because they did not have the guranteed 3.5 GPA and 30 MCAT qualifications) that the scholarships will run the risk of running out.

Is this a valid point or is he just trying to boost his numbers? Have others thought about when they would accept HPSP if they do not hear back from USUHS? etc. etc.

Have you already received the HPSP scholarship (been offered scholarship, but not taken the oath/signed a contract) or has your recruiter not submitted your package to the board yet? Which branch of service?

This website/PDF may have the answers you want; however, it is a beast to read through.

Chapters 8 and 9 have some good information

It could be some of both unfortunately.

And I know that's not a good answer.

I have heard horror stories of recruiters with regards to HPSP and then amazing ones as well.

If your package hasn't gone to the board it's a totally different story than if you are accepted right now but haven't signed. I think if that's the case you have some time limit to accept or not and I'm not 100% sure on what it is. If your package hasn't gone to board, he is right that spots will fill up eventually.

Have you started the scholarship application process? If you are considering doing HPSP at all, I would go ahead and start the application process. For me, it took a pretty long time to get all the paperwork sorted out with my recruiter and then take another physical (different from the one for USUHS). He's also probably pressuring for his numbers also... but doing the application doesn't hurt, especially if you already have an acceptance.

30 days per the item I linked above

take another physical (different from the one for USUHS)

My recruiter let me use the USUHS physical and I was selected for HPSP. All I had to do was get bloodwork done at an Army hospital.

@PiratesSpursFan If you were accepted to HPSP you have a 30 day window to accept. You also have the option to get out of the HPSP after signing/taking the oath provided you haven't been paid, but I'm assuming this is much harder to do as they state "it has to be in the best interest of the government". The details on this are located under section 9-8 in the doc I linked above. One would think its in their best interest to have a student at USUHS vs. HPSP since it's a 7 yr vs. 4 yr commitment, but who knows... I've yet to find any evidence of it occurring on this board or the internet.

If you haven't sent your paperwork in to the board yet there's really no harm in doing that since you can decline if you hear back from USUHS in the next month or so.

I think we were holding off on sending it to the boards, but all other steps are, from what I understand, completed. Reading what DJones13 had posted I think it seems llogical to have it sent off to the boards to get an acceptance spot, and then sit on it for as long as I can hoping I get the call from USUHS?

Also, to answer PremedSpouse, I am applying Army.

Thanks all for the advice. I really like my recruiter and just wanted to see if anyone else was in a similar situation/how much truth there was to what they were saying.

My husband's recruiter originally didn't want to send his package up unless he was 100% certain that he would take the scholarship if awarded one. My husband didn't send it up straight away because he was waiting to hear back from USUHS. Then the recruiter was advised by his boss that he could go ahead and submit it and my husband could decide after the fact. He was applying AF though. My husband did end up getting a scholarship, but received a USUHS spot, so took that instead. I would agree completely with the advice DJones13 posted - good luck!

Does anyone know if USUHS gives application feedback? I was invited to interview but rejected after that. I'm fortunate enough to have been accepted elsewhere, but knowing what went wrong in my interview would be very helpful for me if I end up doing practicing military medicine at some point later on. Thanks!

I was accepted off the Navy waitlist 30APR. I think waitlists will continue to move as people make their final decisions and decline other schools, so hang in there!

The potential for threats will continue to be an inherent part of wearing the uniform - make certain you're truly ready for that and aren't distracted by the awesome pay and education!

hang in there everyone!
I was a late may acceptance last year, and there are a few in my class who were june-july acceptances as well!

Seconding cardio7 's advice to go out and get some exercise- if you're accepted and will be attending officer training, i't better to already be fit when you show up!

I know there were a couple last week and only one this week. I was told the Navy waitlist is the longest. I am still REALLY hoping to get in this year but I don't want to lose time on next years app.

Any idea what "long" means? Like 100 or like 10?
/warning speculation

In the past the wait list was nearly as long as the acceptance number to start. So my best guess is 50ish. That said I could be way off.

/end speculation

I've been very stressed so at least working on next years app will distract me for now. My current command keeps pressuring me about whether I will be here next year and they don't seem to believe that I really don't know.

Do we know when we typically see the most amount of waitlist movement? Like the week of the AMCAS deadline or perhaps the three weeks after the deadline? I realize that SDN is not a very representative cross section of the med school applicant pool, and just wanted to ask in case anyone had asked someone at USU. All this anxiety and stress and having to balance it with practical prudence, it's tough...

Yeah I emailed on 5/14 and Dr. Saguil responded they only pulled 4 off the wait list this week so "we will be seeing more movement."

From what I understand, 5/15 is the cut off day for students who have put deposits down at multiple schools and are holding more than one seat to narrow it down to one (someone please correct me if that's wrong.) So historically a big wave of waitlisters get accepted around that time. I hope that's the case for us this year
Thanks for the reply. I thought that that was the point of the April 30 deadline.

EDIT: So I made all of this up, my bad for confusion! Apparently end of April was the magic day and 5/15 means nothing!
