Perhaps same deal as fieldandstream3 -- got an email this AM explaining the Navy wait list, with the option to express interest in Army or Air Force instead. Expressed interest in both, and now I've got a conditional acceptance to Air Force!! Legitimately the best birthday present ever 🙂

So, interviewed 10/2, wait listed Navy, and then conditional acceptance to Air Force today (12/3).

Could not be more excited!!!
Hooray, fellow Air Forcer! with all the excitement about the navy waitlist on this board, it's nice to see some AF excitement as well!

Just got my medical waiver approved today (cue sigh of relief)! Congrats on the new acceptances, hope to see many of you next fall and the very best of luck to those of you still waiting for news/interviewing :highfive:

Can anyone give me an idea of how long it took from when your were complete to when you received an interview invite? I have been complete for over 2 months and complete silence. Should I assume I won't be getting one?

This depends on the date that you were complete. I was complete in mid July and got my II three weeks later in early August. USUHS is probably pretty overwhelmed with applications right now, and we are heading into Christmas/New Years season.

You may very well get an II in the coming weeks or perhaps in January. I know people who were complete at USUHS around late October and received an II in January. I believe interviews go into February.

So there's still hope!

I was complete on August 18 and received my interview invite on September 9. It was still pretty early then, though. They will probably take a little longer to turn things around at this point in the cycle, especially given things like the Thanksgiving break. Hang in there, though, I know waiting is a tough game!

On that note... tomorrow is Friday. After rereading the entire thread since Oct 15, Friday seems to be when calls usually go out. @Glycereine perhaps tomorrow will be our lucky day:xf::xf::xf:

I'll be waiting here to congratulate you and Glycereine tomorrow, or whenever Dean Saguil calls you guys!

🙂 🙂 This is why I love SDN. Also because it is fertile ground for procrastinating on school work. Coincidentally I'm writing/currently procrastinating on a research paper on dehydration and exercise capacity and tons of the papers I'm using are coming out of military programs. Makes me want this even more/ be even more impatient. Not helpful, as I'm (if you guys couldn't already tell) incredibly antsy about these waiting shenanigans.

Appreciate the confidence and well wishes but I don't know if they are looking at me as being released until the official paperwork comes though. If not, they can't/won't offer me anything until it does.

Ahhh, bummer. Thought that I had seen your LOA paperwork was approved, and then I realized that it was on its way to its final approval. Hang in there, friend! We can wait together 😎

Thank you very much for your insight! I have been accepted at a few schools but I am holding out for USUHS.

Thanks llamasarefunny! I will try to be patient.

I forget who asked a few posts back but they said that those who interviewed today would all be considered for the wait list. Navy is full and there are 4 spots left for AF. I can't remember how many Army are left.

Thank you so much for that information!!!!! Seriously, sending internet high fives.

On that note---- 4 spots in AF?!?!😱 Things just got real

EDIT: Welcome to SDN! Hope your interview went awesome!

Agree with @llamasarefuzzy, thank you for the info!

Also hope you loved the school and all went well 🙂

Just got medically disqualified for "Refractive Error: Myopia (Near-Sighted) over -8.00 diopters in spherical equivalent"
I read online that "Many times waiver authorities will require a normal dilated retinal exam in order to consider a waiver. This is done on a case by case basis."
Does this mean I stand a good chance at a waiver? Should I be worried?

Wow Bear.. I thought I was blind! not sure how the waiver process goes. I would get in touch with Ms. Rasmauser

@cardinal77

My 2 year old niece loves Doc McStuffins (I hadn't even heard of it until 2 weeks ago when she came to visit).

She has a bunny pillow pet that has a gigantic tear (had) in the back and one ear falling off from over love. We performed "surgery" on it and she was super excited. 🙂

Just got a call from a Maryland area code and pretty much pooped myself with excitement... Turns out it was someone interested in applying for an opening at my company 🙁

I feel your pain. When did you interview?

Same day as you 🙂

AAHHH I forgot! I think all this waiting is interfering with my brain abilities lol! We can be waiting buddies! Through a combination of some impressive stalker abilities and a slow day at work I have concluded that a many of the phone calls come in the afternoon. The saga continues...

Hi guys, just got back from my interview yesterday and thought I'd share my experience.

Obviously since many have already interviewed, I will be brief and simply echo their enthusiasm. I come with no prior military background and was blown away by the experience. The staff, faculty and student body were welcoming and open to answering any and all questions. The sim center is incredible.

During our orientation, Dr. Saguil informed us that by the time our files come up for final decision we would be battling for waitlist spots. It is true that USN is currently full, USAF has roughly 5 spots left and USA has approx. 10. I spoke with him between interviews and he said he expects to offer in full around 300 total acceptances for a class of 175 (similar to last year) and he expects there should be motion with the waitlist around Feb as withdraws come in.

Wait, there are only 15 spots left?!?!?!?
15 spots left in the initial 175...

As I'm sure Dr. Saguil mentioned in your interview, because USUHS is federally funded, they can only admit up to what congress allotted. They can't over admit like a typical school and hope attrition brings it back down. This is why they have to waitlist. He also said that movement on the waitlist is not prioritized by when you interviewed, but by what your overall admissions score is.

So...would it even be worth turning in the secondary at this point?

Eh.........

IF you have a very strong application and USUHS really wants you, it is still technically possible (I think) to get a super late interview in February. I am pretty sure that all January interview spots haven been filled, but I am not entirely sure. As you know, the class is almost completely full, so you'll be interviewing for a wait-list spot if you get an II. The bright side is that every year, USUHS accepts a bunch of people from the waitlist across all branches.

If you REALLY want to attend USUHS, I would first speak to admissions and ask them what are the chances of getting an interview at this stage.

Its also free so nothing really to lose

So...would it even be worth turning in the secondary at this point?
I would honestly think that you're past the due date. They require AMCAS applications by Nov 15th and secondaries within three weeks of receiving theirs. Assuming you waited until the last day to submit your primary, tomorrow would be three weeks. Think you may be SOL, but if if you still want to, I would submit NOW.

So...would it even be worth turning in the secondary at this point?

It sounded like USUHS really doesn't mind reapplicants at all, so you have literally nothing to lose by applying this cycle: it's free, the prompts are straightforward, you could get in, and if you don't you can try again, no big. The faintest possibility of getting in is totally worth the relatively small effort it takes to send in your secondary, in my mind... If you really wanna come, that is! If it's an afterthought... well... just remember there's a big commitment attached that shouldn't be taken lightly. 😀

My niece also loves Doc McStuffins (which is how I know about it, lol). I wanted to have some sort of avatar, and I thought she was most appropriate. 🙂 That's adorable about performing surgery on her bunny!

Just so everyone still waiting for an acceptance is aware, last year this school started the waitlist by 12/12. So the fact that only 15 spots are left is completely normal. I'm betting they fill most (probably all) of those last 15 spots this week and then start the wait list. I didn't interview until 11/13, so I knew going in that the best I should hope for off the bat is to get on the wait list and hope for the best. Lots and lots of movement off of the wait list though so just keep that in mind as we all start to hear back.

Desperately hoping for one of the last acceptances as last year October interviewees did not waitlist. Also hoping for some good news this week as it is officially week 6 and last week seemed kind of slow on acceptances ( at least on sdn) I know there are some fellow October interviewees in a similar position... Good luck guys, we can do it!

Hey everyone. Just got the waitlist letter today. Interviewed 10/30.

I put AF as #1 and Army #2, but I'm wondering if it is possible to put down both as #1. I would be happy going with either and honestly haven't been able to decide between the two. Any advice on if that's possible?

Congrats on the waitlist! My understanding is that you could call admissions to find out.

Was it a paper letter?

I canceled my Jan. 8th interview last night, hope the spot goes to one of you people, good luck!
