Oh sorry I've been gone so long, I got rejected a while back. I'm putting a lot of time and effort into HPSP so I hope that pays off. Good luck all.

Sorry to hear that. But congrats on FSU! Wish I had the chance to interview there! Good luck!

Sorry to hear that! Are you doing AF HPSP? My husband has his HPSP application in as well (they decided to let him submit even though he's holding off on a decision from USUHS). If so, I'm sure our paths will cross again - it's a pretty small AF. Take care and best of everything to you!

Just checking in to say hi!

No news from me. Congrats to those joining the waitlist, and sorry for those rejected.

The waiting game continues

Interviewed 11/06, medically DQ'd 10/30 (received 11/10). Submitted additional documentation with my waiver 11/24. Received AF waitlist letter 12/30. Waiver granted 1/29! Now I'm praying to get off the waitlist soon

Bummer, but congrats on FSU. Did my undergrad there. Tremendous school and environment. Good luck with the HPSP.

So, to those of you who interviewed already, did Dr. Saguil say anything regarding the waitlist/waitlist movement? In general, there is pretty good movement for AF and army? Did he provided stats or anything on interview day?

From what I understand, pretty much everyone gets off the waitlist for AF and Army. The movement really starts to happen after April 30th! Although there is a little before then. Hope that helps!

Spoke with him yesterday. He said that last year 110 came off the waitlist. Not sure where the movement came from, but even if you assume 80% turn over with USA/USAF, that's still 60% turn over on USN. As USN waitlist, I've been trying to factor my odds.

Anyone know what the re-app process is like if you don't come off waitlist?

For base access, is your guest supposed to receive a confirmation that their secnav form was approved as well?

Are the applicants supposed to receive confirmation? I haven't received mine yet. How long does it usually take to receive it?

When were each of the branch's officer training dates last year?

Dunno about last year, but here are the dates for this year:

Air Force: June 29 - July 31
Army: June 12 - July 25
Navy: June 14 -July 17
PHS: TBA - probably June

Where did u find that? Thanks!!!!!

Has anyone been placed "on hold" and moved to wait list and/or acceptance this cycle?

Also -- does anyone know whether a 7 on an MCAT section (30 total) excludes you from Army and Navy HPSP? I've learned the hard way that it excludes me from Air Force HPSP.

They have a minimum MCAT total but I'm pretty sure not a minimum in each section. I have a 28 MCAT and my packet is through. Truly all they care about is that you have an acceptance. That's #1.

Anyone know how USUHS operates after the April 30th deadline? I'm waitlisted here and at another school. Both are top options - literally a 1a/1b situation. With OTS in June for all branches, I assume once you sign your commitment papers, all other waitlist schools are off the table?

I know this sounds really odd, but I have a family and the other school is closer to our parents.

I don't believe the April 30th deadline applies to waitlists, only acceptances. Don't quote me but I'm about 99.9% positive.

Yes I believe everyone is supposed to receive confirmation. It took me exactly a week! If you don't have a confirmation a couple days before your interview I would call so you don't have trouble getting into the base

thanks! I actually just received it today

Navy has an option for ODS from May 10 to June 12 as well.

This is kind of a random comment/question, but did anyone feel like they failed the hearing test?? lol

I'm probably stressing for no reason, but I don't think it went very well

Hi Slater74,

Another incoming students shared a response he got from emailing Lt. Melissa Strahan:

"Thank you for including me on these inquiries. Although, last year, the Navy did have 2 sets of dates, however, this year the ONLY ODS date will be June 14 - July 17. I may be able to work some case-by-case May seats, for extenuating circumstances, however if we can't work anything out, officer training is then worked out during the following Summer (during Summer experience)."

Thanks for posting that, I was thinking about going in May after I got Dr. Saguil's email. Sounds like I'll have to wait.

How does security clearance work? After you submit your paperworks on the Interview Day, is there anything else you have to do? Do they tell you when they begin investigation or when it is complete? What are the odds of failing the security clearance?

All they'll do is validate your work history (possibly housing history) and verify your character. You won't fail unless you've falsified information or have aided terrorist activities. Also, the folks you put down as references may get a 1-2 page form to fill in and mail back.

*I'll caveat this by saying my experience in this regard is as a reference for three different folks who applied for government positions

Thanks! That's a relief. Now all I gotta worry about is passing the medical/physical clearance and getting off the waitlist.

If you don't have security clearance already, they actually will have you re-complete the security clearance paperwork once you get to USUHS, so don't go chucking out your copy of your paperwork from interview day just yet...

Hi everyone - Just got accepted off of the wait list. Applied as Army ROTC undergraduate - interview 11/6/2014 - wait-listed last week of January - accepted 2/13/2015. A very lucky Friday the 13th. I was wait-listed initially because of my DODMERB and issues scheduling it with HPSP conflicts, but I'm glad it got processed and I got pulled relatively quickly.

Being a current ROTC student, I'd be happy to answer any questions that I can about the Army or military in general (as best I can). For those of you waiting to get off of the wait list, definitely stay positive! There is a lot of shifting throughout the entire spring season so don't feel discouraged.

Anyone have the Facebook page link for incoming freshman? Would like to start seeing some faces.

Good luck all.

Congrats sbartiko!! 😀

Can't get a link off my facebook app, but the group is called USU Class of 2019. Just send a join request and Ms. Holland will verify and let you in. 🙂

Congrats Spartiko!

I'll also be starting USUHS in the fall in the Army branch!

I'm going to hate this waiting game...interviewed last week and loved it. Submitted my secondary in December too! Glad I did!

does usuhs super score the mcat? (take the best score from each section)

Nope, I'm pretty sure they look at the most recent or highest score. There are only a few schools that superscore (GWU and MCW?)

Well, after a long wait I've been rejected pre-II. I was complete in July with MCAT score right around the average and GPA above the average. Didn't have much hope after not hearing anything for so long, so it's actually kind of nice to have an answer.

Thankfully, I have been accepted to my state school and HPSP through the Air Force, so maybe I'll be seeing some of you along the way. Good luck to those still waiting!

Sorry to hear about the rejection but more importantly congrats! Very happy for you to have both the acceptance and HPSP complete. Hopefully we will cross paths in the future!
