prematched!!
prematched!!
Huge congrats! If you don't mind me asking, when did you get your email?Accepted!
Congrats! What time did you get the email? Wondering if I should stay up.
+1 mine came in slightly later, so I went to bed kinda sad and then woke up this morning to the acceptance!o and to let you all know i didn't get it until 12:45 so it maybe some are still coming out!
Okay, I just spoke with Ms. McLane. I asked her specific questions about the prematch process and their typical acceptance patterns throughout the cycle. While this information is, due to the nature of the process, not extremely illuminating, it is more authoritative than our speculation. And there are a few pearls of wisdom here that might prove interesting to those of us still waiting for a decision.
She confirmed that the bulk of their prematch offers went out on the 15th. However, she said the Committee is planning to have several additional, smaller waves between now and mid December. Crucially, and I made sure to clarify this point, each time offers go out, the entire pool of applicants will be reviewed. This means that the later prematches are by no means reserved for candidates who recently interviewed; all interviewed applicants regardless of interview date are thus still very much in the running to prematch between now and around mid December when she confirmed that they will most likely cease extending prematch offers.
Ms. McLane also verified that very few people will receive new offers via the match. When I asked her if she could speculate as to what proportion of the class would be accepted off of the waitlist, she compared it to Vegas (and told me if she would make a lot of money there if she could answer that question). Finally, she stated that Southwestern typically makes somewhere between 350-380 offers in sum to fill their class of 230 students.
That's all I got. I honestly did not expect the office to be so tremendously helpful and receptive to questions; I've done my best to share what I learned with everyone else who is still waiting. I hope this helps. Best of luck to everyone and again congrats to those who've already gotten offers."
So no OOS applicants have pre-matched?
They said at the interview day that, even though 10/15 is written as the earliest OOS date, they don't hand out any decisions until 11/15. We're just wondering if any OOS at all have heard back yet since it doesn't seem soIIRC OOS pre-match began October 15. I think the November 15 date is just for pre-match for residents
Congrats to everyone who was accepted! No such good fortune here on my end so far, but it seems like there will be some more offers before the end of the year. Fingers still crossed...
It seems like they are only offering pre-matches to LizzyM scores of 74 or higher right now based on posts.
<<< LizzyM of 73 here :/
Accepted last night OOS!! Interviewed in late September. They said at the interview day that, even though 10/15 is written as the earliest OOS date, they don't hand out any decisions until 11/15. We're just wondering if any OOS at all have heard back yet since it doesn't seem so
I've got a few questions, if you don't mind (open to other students as well).
At the interview, one of the med students complained about how biochem is taught by a collection of professors, and some of them seem to be interested in teaching you about their research even though it may not be completely relevant/useful information for a medical student. Is this true across other classes too or is it limited to biochem?
How's the student body? Do people actually go and hang out outside of school or do people tend to keep to themselves?
What do you personally like about the school?

Hey I have a question for a current student or anyone who can answer:
I remember hearing that most OOS students end up getting IS tuition at UTSW, first off is this true? and secondly is this just a result of them gaining TX residency or does UTSW include scholarships that make this possible in financial packages?
Thanks in advance!!
Last year over 10 people posted on the Southwestern thread about being accepted Nov 25, so I feel the next batch will go out around then.Any idea when the 2nd batch of pre-match offers go out?
