you mean Christmas eve?
Lol a Christmas miracle. That would be cool, but no I was thinking Monday or Tuesday because I assume the adcom is still meeting tomorrow. I don't know though. I'm realistically not hearing back til March haha.

haha wouldn't that be sweet... yeah they usually meet on fridays so perhaps mon/tues... they are prob still in the october range so I'm not getting my hopes up 🙂

Yes, bring us a gift of good news Dr. Chan-ta Claus!
LOL.. great now I will be hoping for a call monday.. although the OOS calls seemed to go out yesterday, might not be another month till he does it again...

Remember that the U did say that most of the calls will go out in March. Not hearing something in the next couple of weeks or even months is no reason for discouragement!

Got an II on Thursday for the last week of January after being on the "hold" list for a couple months. I'd actually given up any hope of hearing back from them so if there's anyone else out there who is on the hold list, there is still hope!

Does anyone know if Utah does the snailmail for rejections? Been complete since Oct and not a word from them.

Hey everyone, any insight on letters of update? I haven't really done many new things to strengthen my application, just more of the same, and I don't know how much such a letter would strengthen my standing. Do you think they kind of expect a letter of update from applicants? Have any of you had any experience with letters of update? Do you recall Dr. Chan saying anything about them?

I sent a few back when I was applying. That being said I would reserve them for something more significant (I did it for a research paper that was submitted, winning a national thing etc).

I'm in that same boat. Don't know if I should even write one at all.

Just withdrew my acceptance. Best of luck to everyone else!
Good luck with everything! Thanks for letting us know.

Does anybody know if the admissions office is open this week?
I saw one of the admissions people today near the hospital. I am assuming they are open. I would just call and find out. University holidays only apply Jan 1st and depending on the department also Jan 2nd... but that doesn't mean much if everyone just took off for the holidays

For now, I don't think I'm going to send one. I want them to know I'm immensely interested, but they probably already know that. There isn't much for me to add to what they already know about me. I just don't know if my not sending a letter communicates complacency to them... Ah the old guessing game with ADCOM's

Don't quote me on this...but I'm pretty sure the adcom accepts legitimate updates (like publications, new employment, etc.), but NO letters of intent.

An update letter without any remarkable updates would not be a positive addition to your application; you would be far better off not sending anything.

Relevant updates, in my opinion, would include significant awards or accomplishments, research posters or publications, activities that may offset potential weaknesses in your application (like additional shadowing or leadership experiences, if your previous application was lacking in those areas), etc...

Thanks everyone, this is exactly the information I was hoping to get, either one way or another about the letter.

Hey all! Thought I’d finally post for those of you who are keeping track of numbers like I have the past couple years haha. I got the call from Dr. Chan on 12/3/14! Interviewed 11/3. I am IS, GPA: 3.5, MCAT: 30

Good luck everyone!

Congrats everyone! I'm retiring from this thread until March for my own sanity. Best of luck to those accepted and those still on the grind.
