2014-2015 Virginia Commonwealth University Application Thread

Thanks ! Hope your interview went well! 🙂
Thank you, you too!! It was AMAZING. Seriously, this was my second to last choice school when I applied only because I didn't know a lot about it and it has catapulted to the number 1 spot on my list. Even surpassed my state school which is a really good school. EECK I really hope I get good news on 12/16!!

Hey everyone I had an interview on 10/21 and have only gotten the survey status. Any ideas why I haven't gotten the post interview hold yet? Would really love to go here. Thanks!

Received an email about this status update yesterday:

"Application Status

Your M.D. file is now complete. The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application. Once the review is complete, your file will be prioritized, and interviews will be granted based on your priority score and the date your file was completed. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates. Please continue to read all paragraphs below."

Do we get a status change email if we get an II? Also, does anyone have any idea how long it might take for my status to change to rejection/II/hold from here?

I think you should probably call and ask. Most people got status changes in about 2-3 weeks and you are at like 6.5 weeks.

It took mine 5 weeks to change. I wouldn't be too worried

Does VCU accept pre-interview update letters? If so, what e-mail address should it be sent to?

Thanks in advance for entertaining questions that have undoubtedly been asked on this thread before!

They state that they do not accept update letters. Although, people have e-mailed Dr. WHC in the past to update her and it has been OK. So the choice is yours!

You get a status change email for almost everything they do in terms of your application (hence the further/may statuses). Like the case with all other schools, no one really knows how long it takes for a status change as many people have heard back within a couple week while some early applicants have yet to hear anything.

Yeah you get an email notification for everything that changes.

Has anyone started a group or thread for accepted students yet?

Random question:

How much input do you think the admission committee gets from the 2nd year student tour guides?

Hi all, I interviewed on 11/24, and I'm hoping to be in the running to hear back next week! I haven't received a survey or any status update since my interview, though. Would someone mind telling me what I should be expecting or if I'm missing anything? Sorry to be a bit behind on this 🙂 Thanks!

You should be expecting a survey and then most likely a post interview hold. You aren't missing anything, this can take weeks.

Yay!! I hope you hear good news! When did you interview?

(warning: neurotic pre-med question)

does anyone know what time monday we should hear back? morning? and via email Im assuming?

Loved this school, Interviewed on the 2nd and from what they told us, they were pretty caught up. So good luck to all those that are expecting to hear back on the 16th

So I interviewed on the 4th week of October and my login page is still on the same post-interview survey status...

Does no hold post-interview hold status mean I wont hear back in December?

Pretty sure that is what it means. Not sure why you still have that status though.

my last status said I was complete and being reviewed. I just got a status update saying I'm complete and being reviewed. thanks guys!!

About how long after the committee meeting are we supposed to get the post interview hold status? My interviewer said he was definitely going to be there this past Monday but I'm still in the survey status. I hope this doesn't mean I've been rejected :/

Well, I interviewed a couple weeks ago and still haven't even gotten the survey status yet...I also cannot help but feel that the delay before receiving the survey and hold status is indicative of our "priority score." I feel ill thinking about it

You will be ok. From the past thread, many people did not receive the hold status until the day before the offer date, and some even got it the same day and accepted. I think it is just a system issue, and they update status in batches. So I would not read into it too much....

I got the post interview hold ~2 weeks after the committee meeting, so I don't think you need to worry about anything at this point.

I have many questions... if any of you have answers. 🙂

I was put on post interview hold before the first round of acceptances (October 16th), and I didn't hear back at that time. I was under the impression that I should hold off on the letter of interest or any updates until I'm officially wait listed in the spring. Is this correct?

Is the first round of acceptances geared towards higher-scoring applicants than the second and third rounds? So if you're passed up initially, you still have a chance of making the cut in the next couple rounds of acceptances?

From my understanding I would say yes. Because acceptance is based off of priority score and a letter of interest won't change your priority score. On the waitlist however, you can move up and down within your priority score and a letter might move you up there.

And yes, better applicants are generally going to be accepted earlier and as they go forward they will have less of those so they will accept lower priority applicants. So you could get accepted December, February, or March.

No this is not true. They go out in batches, I got my survey the same day as people who interviewed throughout the two weeks or so before me, so it seems like they are sent out in batches.

My interviewer said he would definitely be there too but I didn't get it for about 2.5 weeks. It seems like most people get it in about 2-3 weeks. So, yeah, you still have some time.

Got the MAY status update also, albeit on Nov 23. Checking my status everyday since lol...Can't wait for another update!

Lol I'm pretty sure VCU is good about letting you know about a status change via email, correct?
