nevermind!

Interviewed here late in September, but haven't received a phone call or any decision in the mail. I logged onto the portal today and saw the message below... Is this a waitlist status? I'm not sure what to make of it. Neuroticism is starting to kick in..😱
"Thank you for your interest in the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. Your file has completed review and will be given additional consideration throughout the duration of the cycle. We highly recommend that you upload professional and personal development updates to your file when applicable. You may do this through your applicant portal. Feel free to also provide the committee with any academic updates to your file that are relevant for your consideration. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our admissions office at [email protected]"
My boyfriend interviewed on September 28th, and they told him he'd hear back on the December 15th date! I interviewed September 1st and they got back to me on oct 15th as planned so I'd assume you're just going to get your decision with that December group like him. That sounds like a hold to me.

Quick last minute question before my interview tomorrow. Does anyone know if, when we scheduled our interview, we had an option to request a special lunch (like gluten free)? I requested one at my other interviews but I don't remember requesting one for this interview. Stuffing my purse with snacks just in case!
Aw man, I'm sorry you had this experience! Sounds like a stress interview if I've ever heard one - it's the stuff of nightmares, really. Both of my interviewers at Loyola were very nice and conversational. Loyola has been my favorite interview day by far, and I too was impressed by the info session, staff, tour/facilities, etc. I hope you focus on the good and try not to let one person taint your view of the school.WOW. Okay, very mixed feelings about interview day.
The good: almost everything. My first interview went really well, she told me I presented myself very well at the end of it. The info sessions were very informative. The staff was nice. My tour was EXCELLENT, the facilities are very nice!
The bad: my second interview. Holy. Crap. I don't know if it was a stress interview or what, but my interviewer was acting like a huge a-hole. I was talking about how my experiences shadowing and volunteering taught me how to communicate with patients and how important that skill is for doctors, and he said something along the lines of, "well, communicating with patients isn't really that important, it's knowing the hard sciences that's important for a physician". He then proceeded to tell me that my research was useless because it wasn't related to medicine, and that my shadowing was useless because I did most of it in "Peru" (told him I actually studied abroad in Chile about 10 times and he kept saying Peru) and therefore know nothing about US medicine. He then summed it up by saying my application gave no indications that I had any interest in medicine. He didn't have access to my GPA but implied several times throughout the interview that he didn't think I was good at science because I'm a Spanish major. He spent 15 minutes making me tell him all the AP classes I took in high school (???) and when I couldn't remember one or two he just sat there and stared at me. Then he made me go through all the honors societies I was in, but in high school, not in college. He seemed disappointed when I told him I was in National Honor Society and graduate Cum Laude, as if that wasn't good enough. I asked him if classes were P/F, and his answer was a 15 minute diatribe about the process of med school and residency, did not even answer my original question. Then, possibly the worst part of the whole interview was the very end. We said our goodbyes, I thanked him, and we shook hands. He grabbed onto my hand, held onto it for at least 30 seconds if not more, all the while staring at me and saying nothing. It was EXTREMELY uncomfortable, I actually tried to pull away because it was so uncomfortable but he still wouldn't let go.
I don't know if it was meant to be like that, or if he was just a jerk, or what. But either way, it's really putting a damper on what was otherwise a great day. Thank God I was able to keep it together during the interview, but looking back on it now is really making me upset.

Sounds like we had the same second interviewer. I wasn't sure what their deal was...didn't even consider if it was a stress interview, although it was definitely stressful. They also focused a lot on my high school experience and seemed very dubious about my credentials while also providing little opportunity for me to actually speak.
And with that said, I got accepted to Loyola. So don't sweat that one experience too much. Glad you enjoyed the rest of your day!

GPA * 10 + MCAT score. Well, the old MCAT score I should say. Also .. Sorry for being so obnoxiously new to this thread, but what is a LizzyM?
Had my interview yesterday, and it was fine, very conversational, but boy, did they comb through my app and essays. Know your life, as they do ask about it.Have my interview today, I'll report back what it is like.
Did anyone else get a minority email. Like you're a minority and they email you to apply? No one is really talking about this. And I'm curious as to why SSOM is doing this.😳

They told me the same through the phone...but if it's legit I don't mind an expedited reviewI got the email as well, I emailed them some questions and went ahead and replied! I plan on submitting the secondary this weekend. The person I was communicating with through email told me to email her back when it's done so they can expedite my review. I'm curious to find out how "fast" an expedited review is, adcoms from a lot of schools seems to running veryyyyyy slow this year.
I think Loyola is truly dedicated to creating a class that is diverse in its experiences so that the students can best relate to their future patients by being culturally competent and who have been working alongside other students with different backgrounds. This is best illustrated with Loyola's commitment to having DACA students in their medical school who only add to the talent that Loyola attracts. More about this in this article http://www.chicagobusiness.com/arti...till-alone-in-enrolling-undocumented-studentshttp://www.chicagobusiness.com/arti...till-alone-in-enrolling-undocumented-students but bottom line is if you have the time and money for the primary, secondary, you should go for it! 😉
Just curious, but for people who have already interviewed, should the "Your Interview" tab in the portal change to something that says "Interview Complete"? I remember hearing about this on the day I interviewed but the interview tab on my portal hasn't changed yet.

Anyone complete mid-August hear back? Seems like forever....
There is a hold ! I believe it's written about a couple pages back (13)!Does anyone know if Loyola has a "hold" status on their application portal pre-II? Or does it continue to say "under review" even if they have reviewed you and decided not to give you an interview? Thanks!
From what I've heard Loyola is very good at giving responses, either II, hold, or rejected. At least that's what I've read and what I am telling myself!! I've been under review since July 28th!I have been under review since early August. Still hoping 🙂 I wonder if under review is any better than being on hold?
Yea telling myself the same thing. Complete since July 24th.From what I've heard Loyola is very good at giving responses, either II, hold, or rejected. At least that's what I've read and what I am telling myself!! I've been under review since July 28th!
