How many interview dates are left ?

According to an email sent out earlier, they're interviewing through February 25th. So I guess 11 including today if they interview one every Tuesday and Thursday until the 25th?
And they have 2 meeting dates left: February 17th and March 2nd. And everyone will know a decision about acceptances, waitlists, or rejections by March 15th.

No interview...know someone whose mcat is 4 points lower and mcat is a whole tier lower who has gotten accepted....wtf

MUSOM routinely rejects high MCATs if said applicants don't have experiences and traits reflective of their mission.

Volunteering and shadowing doctors in rural and urban areas doesn't contribute to their mission. Commitment to family medicine doesn't reflect their mission?

I would stop comparing yourself to other people (as you really don't know all the details about their application) and start looking in the mirror and see what you think you could do to improve your application and competitiveness.

Try calling and asking if there are any flaws in your application. I wouldn't think your MCAT would exclude you because I saw somewhere that you have a 30 MCAT (which is great, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it would exclude you from an interview because of yield protection-if they do yield protection-like a 39 might). You could ask to speak to Dr. Prakash and hopefully he can tell you if there's a hole in your app or why you might have been passed over. He may say he has to wait to discuss it until after you aren't under consideration anymore, but it's worth a shot.

It may have been my lack meaningful extracurricular and average ps with neutral letters that sunk me this cycle

It's a good thing you can look and think about things you could do better! Start trying to improve them NOW as application preparation is more or less an all year thing lol! And good luck!!!

Yeah MUSM is a little weird about that I'll admit. It's like there is a zone between about 3.4-3.7 that is really the place to be on GPA and 25-29 on MCAT, once you go above that (or below it), you can put yourself at a disadvantage because Mercer will assume that you either A) won't come here because you're likely to get into MCG or Emory or wherever and/or B) (and this is a tin-hat theory) you're more likely to do WELL in med school and go into pediatric facial reconstructive surgery or something vs going to be a country doc. Or at least that's been my conclusions reading these forums for 3 years now. I was roughly in you're same spot too. The GOOD news is that you have a great GPA and a very decent MCAT, and it's probable if Mercer didn't take you on a reapplication than MCG would. All you really need it seems based on your comments is some more extra-curricular stuff (aka boxes to check). I'll say it again, Mercer loves to see volunteer work. You can say you're committed to family med but Mercer's gotta FEEL that you're committed. They only know what you show. Best of luck!

Hello chaps! So I got an II yesterday evening (6pm 01/31 - like probably in the last batch they sent out for this cycle). While I'm incredibly grateful and relieved, part of me is also wondering ... did they get to me last minute, or is their extending an II to me more like a ... politically correct gesture, since I'm a Master's student at MUSM? Either way I'm bringing it lol. But part of me is wondering :/. I was complete at the end of October. I guess the reason is irrelevant ultimately. I've just got to believe in myself profusely and convince them by my conviction.

I would like to agree with that, but as a 31, 3.8 cgpa, I still haven't even heard from any school in Georgia. I want my tax money back!

couldn't agree more with this... cold reject from mercer last cycle..didnt even bother applying there this round, (curious nonetheless) but still waiting on MCG
edit: FWIW my stats are slightly higher

Downside is there are probably going to be so few slots left...

I'm not sure if y'all have interviewed already, but the school would not invite you to come and meet with the staff/students if the admissions committee didn't think you are just as likely to be accepted as anyone else who interviewed in this cycle. Forget the number of spots remaining - interviewing late is in no way an indication that you have less of a chance to get in this cycle. My roommate from a couple years back got his II mid January and didn't interview until almost March, and was accepted at the next committee meeting.

And don't forget - Mercer's had a bunch of movement in the wait list the last couple of years, so there's always that.

Best of luck!

Any meeting this week, or do we still keep biting our nails till the days of end.

What time?

Also was anyone interviewed by a foreign Indian/Pakistani? guy that tried to persuade you not to become a doctor?

I'm not sure exactly what time. Last year, I think it was 5 though s maybe then?

The meeting ends at 5 today. Should hear back before about 10 is what they said at my interview. How much do y'all feel like personality and actual people skills during the interview plays into thier decision?

They assign a score to your file after they interview you. So yeah, people skills plays a part but also your background and what you bring to the table.

That is sad. Unfortunately it seemed to me like there is a big disconnect between alumni and faculty/administration. No wonder they have one of the lowest endowments of any med school. Mercer has a lot of work to do. I did my master's here with the school FWIW and did very well within my class.

Don't let the negative attitudes of faculty dissuade you. Med school is what you make of it for the most part.

my friend who got in on regular decision this year received his call and email at 930am
