2015-2016 Oakland University (Beaumont) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Omg why is everybody freaking out?! 113 is not a small number, but that also means that 78% OF THE INTERVIEWS THEY'LL GIVE HAVE NOT EVEN HAPPENED YET! God damn y'all really need to see the glass as half full haha!
I know it's not even September yet lol.

If we were going to be rejected though would we by now?

Awww man!! I submitted the application... but somhwo it didn';t submit last week, and I just found out it didn't submit. I re-submitted and this time I did get the confirmation....

I hope i am not too late

YES!!! This perfectly describes how I feel, both at Oakland and in this process in general.

uh oh I'm getting worried now D:

Got the rejection notice just now. Good luck to everyone in the running still.

Sorry man :/ good luck with your other schools! When were you complete?
I was complete early July I think. It stung a little because it was my first MD rejection, on to the next one.

Rejected (my first one). But as of today, I'm officially down 30 lbs, my Corey Crawford jersey just got here in the mail, and I made delicious waffles with rum for breakfast, so I'm not really feeling the sting!

(3.5/523 ORM)

Bummer. Somewhat unrelated, but I recently got my tix for the Hawks/lightning game. Pretty stoked 😀

Man now I really wish you were interviewing. Whoever gets you is going to enjoy those waffles... *drools sadly*

for the what have you been doing since you graduated essay... I don't know how to format my experiences.
I've been working as a desk secretary in my dad's office, retaking the mcat too.
My mom had a medical emergency this summer and I had to take care of her, so I have had limited time to look for another job.

For this essay, how do I spin these experiences? Should I leave out the fact that my dad owns a practice and just say I have been working in a medical office?
Should I explain that I was retaking the mcat?
Should I explain how my mom's illness has meant I have not been able to do more?

Any help would be appreciated.

Whoever has gotten an interview when did you submit your secondary, and did you ever get an email saying your app is complete with letters and stuff? or how can you find out if you are complete w/letters

If you go to the portal and there is green checks by everything than you are complete

Hey guys quick question about the secondary (sorry if this was posted elsewhere and i missed it...)
So for the Behavioral Sciences requirement I have a full year psychology course and another half course. One was intro to psych (2 semesters long) and the other was another psychology (one semester)

How would I put that down on the pre-requisite coursework section? :/

Did anybody else get a recruiting packet from this school without even sending a primary application?

I did! I also have been getting a lot of emails from them for the past couple of months. I decided to add it to my long list of schools today. Seems a little late, but we shall see.

I'm curious what was included in these packets, if you don't mind me asking haha

Hey, question for all you fine folks here.

With the second supplemental essay that OUWB, should I leave it blank?

They said,"Is there anything you want the admissions committee to know about your qualifications for medical school that is not already represented in your application materials? Note: This space is provided for new information only, not to promote qualifications already highlighted in your other materials."

There really isn't anything else for me to put there. I already put everything in my app. Unless, I start talking about diversity or something.

It was just a packet that gave information on the school, with the mission and values and that kind of stuff.

I wouldn't do it unless you genuinely have something you want them to know that you couldn't put in some other part of your app. I didn't do one and I have an II at OUWB.

Congrats!!! Is it normal that I haven't received a complete email (been complete since 7/15)

Thank you! I know some people did not receive the complete email. As long as the green check marks appear, you're good to go.

II (only my second II ever and again in the Detroit area)! Complete email on 7/20. Congrats to all interviewing. I hope you all got earlier dates than late October!

Congrats! It seems like the earliest they have is late October. I think I'm going to pick the 10/22 one because I will be at VCU on 10/21 so I'll be able to save on plane tickets.

Thanks! Wow that's really lucky timing for you. I wanted to do that with Wayne but no go. Shelled out another $300 for a return plane from Ottawa instead.
