Deferred as well. But I got into my state school and realized how much of an emotional roller coaster this whole thing is. Keep your heads up everyone, it's still so early and a deferral is not a rejection! Good luck and congrats to all you guys that got the call!
 
I am wondering if they rejected anyone ? Seems that the majority of people were either accepted or deferred

I perused the Ohio thread from last year... I looked through it really fast but it seemed like 2 people got in from deferred list in early spring. And then it turned into a waitlist after April 30th. Some people got in off the waitlist, but not a ton. Maybe other people were getting throughout the cycle but didn't post on SDN, or didn't mention that they had been previously deferred. It seems like the chances are not very good, to be honest, and we'll all be waiting a while. I'm super disappointed and feeling "glass half empty" right now though, so forgive my negativity. I'm sure there are other acceptances down the road for all of us, if not at Ohio State.

Thank you for expressing exactly my sentiments. I was so psyched for OSU, now disappointment. Will mourn for a few days, then try to move on.
 
I have a friend who knows someone personally who got accepted from the deferred list last year. So, have faith "deferred" peeps.i know that it is easily said than done, but this process is very convoluted and hard to speculate.
 
Does anyone know if Ohio State is receptive to letters of interest pre-interview? Still hoping for an II here.
 
What exactly do we need to do to confirm our acceptance? I've indicated "accept" on medstar, not sure if I need to submit the $25 fee until I decide to matriculate.

My old emails show that my acceptance deposit was not due until the deadline for holding multiple acceptances, I simply had to reply to the College of Medicine stating that I was accepting their acceptance to hold a spot. Of course, a quick email or phone call would remove all doubt.

Anyone else waiting for a phone call (or lack of one) tonight 🙂
 
If you interviewed in the past month, they told us our decision would be posted Oct 27. Based on the thread so far (and last years) that means if you were accepted you should be getting a phone call from Capers tonight.
 
So I have been in contact with someone from admissions for about a year- meaning we have e-mailed back and forth every few months regarding my application since last cycle (reapplicant) and this person has been very open to me communicating with them and generally seems very positive and open towards me.
However I haven't contacted this person since I have submitted my secondary... do you think it would be appropriate to send something to her now expressing my very sincere interest in OSU (it's my absolute dream school)?? Or would it come across as trying to worm my way into the system? Not sure what etiquette dictates here... any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated =D

If it's someone on the administrative side of the admissions office and not involved in the committee, I would say the person wouldn't have much influence (if any) over your final admittance decision.
 
Anyone know how admissions reconsiders the deferred applicants? Do they reconsider them every time they have a new batch of decisions from more recent interviews?

I called admissions after I was deferred and they said we will be considered at every meeting. Acceptance is possible anytime 🙂

Nice! I guess I'll find out tonight/tomorrow, but curious if they update our portal status every time they make a decision, or just if we've been rejected/accepted.

Hmm I would guess we'll only receive communication if something changes. Most of us will sit in silence until spring time I would guess. But here's hoping we get phone calls tonight 😉

I'm in a similar position position and was wondering the same thing. Maybe the timeline for reapps is different?

You're already sitting on an acceptance so you really have nothing to lose. Be humble and sincere.
 
I just interviewed here today and loved it. 🙂 My interviewers seemed genuinely interested in me succeeding. Not to mention the beautiful facilities. Here's hoping for acceptance 11/5!
 
Did anyone get a call tonight? I guess no good news for me
 
It came up as a portal change so I was sure it was a wait list or something so make sure you go into checking the portal with an open mind!

Me too, originally deferred, just got an email - - ACCEPTED. How come no phone call from Dr. Capers??? Best day ever, unless it is a mistake, then worst day ever!! I'm on the road to another interview, is someone going to call OSU just to double check this is not a mistake??
 
Well I'm still deferred but you guys give me hope for next time!!! Congrats!!! You both must be so happy, especially if this is your first acceptance. When is the next date they will release decisions?
