No my interview is at Temple - maybe they don't do a social.

I interviewed at Temple this past week and there was a social the night before. The social is set up by students so you will get an email from them. I got an email from them like 5 days before my interview.

Thanks. My interview is this Thursday but haven't received an email yet.

Congrats it's a great feeling! When is your interview and is it in CStat or Temple?

I interviewed last week and I just have to say how impressed I was with the atmosphere. We met some of the nicest and most helpful students and the whole day was meant to be relaxing and nerve calming. If you are interviewing here don't stress at all about the interview day. I personally can't wait until October 15th. I hope I will be able cancel all other interviews after that and commit here.

My portal didn't give a specific time, but I am scheduled for 9/03 (Thursday). Does anyone know what time interviews usually are?

In Bryan the interview day started at 7:30 and the interviews/tours started at 2:00.

They should send you an itinerary email. If you did not receive it, I would call.

When you get to info session, you will be give a folder that contains all information pertinent to you, like interview time and interviewers.

Congratulations on all the interviews y'all! Wishing you luck! If you interview at the Bryan campus and you see a student studying, there's a 0.01% chance it's me. Feel free to approach for guidance.

In all seriousness though, if you've got questions, feel free to shoot them my way. I try to check this daily.

@swolesoul, Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my school, but don't do that! You should absolutely see other places because there are schools out there where you may just feel at home walking through. Be open to your options and remember that you only get to go through this process once, so see all you can see. I adored Foster, for example, and even though I didn't get in to UTSW, just being there for an interview was a lovely experience.

I got an invite today at Bryan 🙂 Is that the same thing as College Station?
Im excited! Never been to this area of texas before.

Yup Bryan-College Station are adjacent cities. For some reason, the medical school is considered to be in Bryan but everyone just calls it College Station.

I see thanks! So it would be the main campus then? And temple is a satellite?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get to the Temple campus from the Waco airport?

What the guy below me said. I'm tired and the thought you wrote Bryan campus.

That's how it works! Though Temple is the largest of the campuses for education during the clinical years.

JW, if you're coming from Waco to Temple, I-35 is pretty much a straight shot. You can use Google maps and find Scott and White Memorial Hospital on 31st St. That's where the school/interview is actually located.

Yeah I know the physical directions, but I was asking more along the lines of any shuttles/public transportation. I won't have a car and renting one is a last resort. Sorry, should've been more clear!

Texas really isn't the best when it comes to public transportation. It might be possible to find a bus going from Waco to Austin that can stop at Temple. Check out megabus, they run in Austin but not sure if they go to Waco.

I don't know of any other way to do this other than renting a car. I know Greyhound stops in both cities, but not at the airport or the medical school, so this leaves you with at least four cab calls ( if you're staying overnight and your hotel is not in walking distance, make that six), so you end up spending the same thing you would to just rent a car. Not sure what else to suggest.

You mind me ask when you're interviewing? I'll be driving through Waco from DFW when I go interview at Temple, maybe if it's the same day we could work something out.

I like this one. Already thinking like an Aggie.

Found some interesting stats from 2013 regarding acceptance to II ratio for IS interviewees at these four schools:

A&M - 500/665 = 75%
UT Houston - 411/781 = 53%
UT Southwestern - 366/778 = 47%
BCM - 211/442 = 48%

II on 8/10 for 9/3 in Temple/Round Rock.
I'll be in Temple from 9am-2pm for activities, then they're giving me 1.5 hrs of travel time, and 2 one-on-ones in Round Rock. Transmitted 6/30, secondary 7/13. 3.82/32.

I have an II for C/S this Thursday. Has anyone gotten an email about the social the night before? I replied right away from when I got the invite, and still haven't heard anything back.

M2 here. For anyone interviewing in BCS, the social on Wednesday night's are usually at 6:30pm at Lupe Tortilla on S. Texas Ave. Now of course, if you get an e-mail that says anything else, refer to to the e-mail! That time/place combination is pretty standard for us throughout interview season, so I doubt it will change.

Best of luck!

A&M gave me my first II! 😀 So grateful. As an interview noob, I've been trying to read on sdn how to prepare (but not over-prepare).
Besides looking at SDN interview feedback and knowing my application inside and out, what else can I do? Also for people who have already interviewed at A&M, could you give us a few more pointers? (seems like it was a very positive experience)
Thanks!

It's pretty relaxed. The interviewers have all of your information, essays, GPA, and MCAT. Most of their questions are based on what you wrote in your essays and then a few mandatory, ethical questions.

How tough were the ethical questions and any suggestions on how to prepare for them?

Thank you so much for replying. Will be attending.

They are not that bad. The answer to them are pretty obvious. I think it's is really about how you answer the question. I personally don't think there is any way to prepare for these questions. It's pretty obvious what the answers are and it seemed like to me that my interviewers were just asking them because they had to. They would ask me in like the last 5 mins of the interview and always preface by saying "here are some questions that we have to ask".

Am I screwed if I haven't gotten an II yet? I submitted end of July...

Can any MS1 describe the new curriculum leading to Step 1? I feel that having to take Step 1 during third year means that the students will be far-removed from the pre-clinical material

This is really my only concern. I loved everything else about the school.

Current M1. Unless it's different for your class, we can take Step 1 right after our preclinical curriculum (after 1.5 years of pre-clinical we would get 2 months off to study - start studying mid Jan 2017 and take it mid March 2017), OR after ~3 months of clinicals/electives (around completion of 2 years - taking step 1 in early June 2017), OR after ~5 months of clinicals/electives (taking step 1 end of Aug 2017). You should be able to choose when you're ready and want to take it, which is great we're able to do so since every one is different and has different preferences. Hope that helps answer your question, let me know if you guys have any other questions, we're all glad to help!

Thank you for that info. This actually sounds great as it caters to everyone's unique preference hence higher scores overall.

Do they send rejection emails? Or does the status in the portal literally just not change?

A day after I submitted my secondary and application fees, my status turned to "Under Review".
If you have submitted all the secondary app fees, application, etc. it should go under review.

Right. Does it only change from under review if an interview is given?

No.
I'm not sure what happens after II as I don't have one yet 🙁
What I'm saying is that after you've submitted your secondary app, fees, and your TMDSAS and MCAT scores are in, you should go to "Under Review".
