You're still in the game, brother! Best of luck!

was talking to my recruiter the other day for the HPSP and they said GMO is not as common if you go to civilian school but is still very common in more competitive specialties. He did however say GMO is almost guaranteed for anything outside of family and internal medicine at USUHS.
Thanks for the response! That makes a lot more sense. I also had one more question if you could be of assistance. I have some interest in orthopaedics, do you generally known how many people apply each year for this? I know they only have 11 spots and GMO is essentially required to make you competitive but is this generally self selective or pretty competitive? Thanks, any input would be greatly appreciated.GMO is still pretty common whether or not one goes to a civilian school or USUHS.
The match for Orthopedics in each service tends to have between 20-30 MS4 applicants each year. I don't know about GMO or TY.Thanks for the response! That makes a lot more sense. So people who matched according to this truly go straight through without interruption? The match for Orthopedics in each service tends to have between 20-30 MS4 applicants each year. I don't know about GMO or TY.
From USUHS,
NAVY matched 3/4 who interviewed for Ortho
ARMY 4/5
Air Force all three were selected for deferment so their match is pending.
Each USSF battalion has a "battalion surgeon", who is rarely an actual surgeon. They are typically family or emergency med. They are usually board certified guys who are looking for a break from the hospital/clinic - senior captains or majors. They do more administration than medicine really. Occasionally, the command will send a doc through the Q Course.Does anyone know about working with army special forces? I tried looking up for some information on the threads but everything appears very hold. I am not sure if much has changed. Thanks!
Just got a waitlist letter in the mail! I know I'm probably at the bottom, but I'm still pretty excited I at least have a chance at acceptance now. For anyone wondering, I interviewed October 22nd and was placed on hold early December.
Good luck! I hope there is good news waiting in your mailbox when you return!Awesome, I really hope I'm in the same boat. Won't be able to check my mail until I get back from TDY though.![]()
+1Anyone accepted receive orders yet? Or know when to expect them? I recently got a course reservation verification email for BOLC, so hopefully orders are on the way. Hope to see some movement for the waitlist so I can meet more of you guys this summer!

I'm still waiting! I'm really hoping to come off the waitlist when it starts moving and I'm crossing my fingers! I didn't apply HPSP this year because I'd rather come off the USUHS waitlist even in the middle of Summer. If I don't make it, I'll apply HPSP while I'm in civ school next year.Hello everyone! I was in the middle of the chaotic process of moving and was not able to login for the longest time! Missed reading about our progress! Well, yeah I also received the mass email and although I knew right away it must have been a mistake I also was a little sad to read the words "conditionally accepted" and know it was not a reality in my life at the moment, hehe. As far as me goes... still in the Alternate Waitlist and still not sure about what the statistics and dynamics of that list look like. I have the feeling it will be a long shot.... a loooong one. So, starting next week Im gonna start preparing for the reapplication process, just in case. I just feel being proactive about the situation will be my best way to cope. After beginning my DoDMERB process back in November, I started the waiver process last week for my final "piece of the puzzle" in terms of the medical qualification and clearance. You know guys... Im ready to do whatever it takes to make this happen and get into USUHS, even if it means that I have to reapply. But, it would be so nice, SO NICE!! to be able to put the admissions process behind me and start the journey into my dreams and goals! But for now, the waiting game will do hehehehe. I continue to wish you all so many great things and al the luck in the world! May April 15th serve us all well!! @Morganism, how have you been!!!!!!!!!!!!?????? How is life in the waiting game? Primary waitlist sounds promising!! Get those pushups on point cause you will be heading out to get commissioned this summer! I can feel it. 🙂
Do you know the dates of COT this year?I was told by the Air Force commissioning program manager assigned to me that we should get orders around 30 days before COT begins, but it could be different for Army.
June 27 to July 29, then report to USUHS NLT August 1. Good luck, I'm sure the waitlist will start to move soon, especially once April 30 (the multi-acceptance deadline) comes around.Do you know the dates of COT this year?
Congratulations!!!Waitlisted Army 🙂

Crossing my fingers for your reapplication! It was great to meet you on interview day and I really hope I get to serve with you someday! But who knows, there might be more waitlist movement than usual this year because people don't want to join with the rocky situation in the middle eastEither way, I wish you the best of luck!
Well guys, there was some movement on the AF waitlist today. I got the call from LTC Saguil this morning!![]()

By the way, your dancing banana rules! Hahaha. Too cute
It's peanut butter jelly time!
QUESTION!
I was recently accepted (Army) and am wondering if anyone knows the timeline for this summer up to classes starting, with training and everything?
Thanks!!
Hello All, I am brand new to SDN...........My husband interviewed at USUHS late in the cycle (December 10th), what are his chances of getting accepted, waitlisted, or rejected?
In my opinion, I think if he has not heard anything yet he should consider a friendly call to the admissions office to inquire about the status of his application. Congrats on his interview!
You have to contact the admissions office and ask them. You could post stats, EC's, and interview details, and maybe we could speculate on the reasons, but only admissions knows for sure.Unfortunately he just got the news...."the committee has acted unfavorably on your application". I don't understand what would be the reason for the rejection. At the very least he should have made the alternate wait list. Can anyone answer that question for us?

Im sorry to hear that. Glad you could find out some of the details of the reasons behind their decision. I think at the end of the day, timing plays a big part. Reapplication "season" is around the corner. If his interview was good, he should workout some of the "kinks" in his application in order to show some improvement and apply as early as he possibly can! Perseverance is powerful! He should not give up, and should work through the process. Good luck and success!
Hey guys! I am new to SDN but ran across this thread and just wanted to say hi! I applied to USUHS this year and have been placed on the primary wait list. Ranked Navy #1 and AF a close #2. Congratulations to those already accepted or wait listed! I hope we all get calls soon : ) Nice to know there is a community of us though in the same boat. Good luck to everyone!
Totally in the same boat! But a good boat to be in if you ask me 🙂 Was Dr. Saguil able to tell you which 3rd of the wait list you were on? Just wondering, because if he was I may drop him an email.Welcome Querque15! We're riding the Navy waitlist boat together it seems. =O
I will stay Army strong and cross my fingers. To those of you hoping for an Army position, I will be withdrawing my acceptance so stay strong...
