2015-2016 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did anyone receive an email on immunizations and net id? They already have me on Chicago (listed on the immunization packet) but i haven't gotten any official campus placement email.

in the initial fat packet there is a form that explains the immunizations. There is a portal that we have to upload the immunizations to. The link to the website is on this form.
Ok. My form is in a different state right now and I won't have access to it for a while. Do I need the form, or will I be able to figure it out?

i think you need the form. my form has a code on it. I am not sure if each code is different or if their is one code for UIC. maybe call them tomorrow and ask about it. Sorry i could not be of more help

Anyone hear anything from GMED yet? I heard they would release decisions today or tomorrow and I haven't heard anything yet.
I still haven't heard anything yet :/ have you at this point?

Sorry, I haven't been checking SDN much. I heard back from GMED a few days after the interview (I was accepted). I don't know how many initial invitations they sent out, but Dr. Dobiesz had said that they might be taking people well into the summer if someone who is accepted to the program withdraws because of a waitlist acceptance at another school. Good luck to you both!

Hey, so question.

I just got the checklist, but it doesn't say anything about immunizations. I just want to make sure I have everything in order. Am I missing something?
I just got this email too, and the PDF is titled:

University of Illinois at Chicago - College of Medicine - Chicago

Does this mean I have been assigned the Chicago campus?

So I just got home and looked at the checklist email again. Tried to make a NetID but the email did not include my UIN. Here is a screenshot:

There is no indication of a UIN anywhere. I will call the admissions office tomorrow morning, but does someone know what is going on?

My pdf says chicago but I currently am in Peoria and appealing for Chicago

The drug screen PDF is likely not indicative of your site. It's generated by CertifiedBackground and it's just putting the name of the school at the top of the page. I'm pretty sure everyone got the same order code, UG31dm, and when you enter that in, it brings up the school, which in their system is "University of Illinois at Chicago - College of Medicine - Chicago".

This^ no more discussion needed on this. The drug screen is indeterminant of the site.

I'm personally hoping my "Decision Pending" turns into a waitlist instead of a rejection this week, since there were so many opportunities to reject me earlier. Grumpiness aside, when did UICOM accept people off the waitlist in previous years? I heard mid-late May from a friend, but I want to double check.

edit: nvm, checked last year's thread. Last year was pretty messy, but it seems like most people heard back by June. And "Decision Pending" really can still mean accept/reject/waitlist.

It can go all the way to 2 days before school starts.

My portal still says "Applicant in process" I think I'm going to just reject myself at this point lol. Fortunately, I was accepted elsewhere!🙂

Any idea how soon after turning in the deposit do they let you know your placement? 😀

I was able to get an extension on that May 2nd deadline from both of my schools to make an informed decision...

Did you call? I do not have a UIN either

On another note, for people who got that Incoming M1 Qualtrics Survey, does anyone know where this information is going? Part of the survey deals with the White Coat Ceremony, so will some answers be included in some sort of pamphlet or program? Also, why is "What's an interesting fact about you?" one of the hardest questions of my life?

Just called, they said they will be another week(!?) Before site placements are in...and also for the portal to activate for recent students.

Decision pending people, my roommate got his rejection in the mail (pre-interview) a few days ago. So I don't think they've actually made a decision yet. I guess that means (hopefully) that it isn't a silent rejection.
I've got my fingers crossed for you! Don't give up hope yet!

I just got my site placement. Urbana then Peoria.

Thursday before the mail was collected, from just outside Milwaukee.
I just received mine, and it's not the location I desire. Time to root for the waitlist I'll never get.

Anyone know how to appeal by any chance? Not that it will really do much at this point

From what I have heard, they only consider appeals for serious circumstances, such as having an illness that requires medical attention specifically in Chicago, for example.

Personally, I am all right with Peoria. I preferred Chicago, but at least it's not Rockford.

Also, for those of you who did not receive their UIN a couple of days ago (like me), I just emailed Pamela Slaughter upon receiving my assignment. She immediately replied with my UIN.

Sounds like a fun place to live. As a Wisconsinite I have no knowledge of Illinois south of Joliet.

Does anyone know if there is a Facebook group for the Peoria (or UPR in general) track?
There is. Find the fb class page and you will find it in related pages

Decision Pending folks: I just called the office and spoke with someone who gave a helpful answer! He said our files will be reviewed in the May admissions committee meeting, and that we'll know our decision that week or the following (he said the meeting would be mid-May). Apparently the reason we weren't reviewed in April was that they wanted to see what the class size looked like after the 30 April AMCAS deadline for final decisions.

Banana! This could be good news

Are they just deciding between wait list and reject, then?

God help us all if we have to wait until the third Thursday of May for them to review our files. I hope this is right! Although I must say I have very serious reservations about the reliability of their admissions office.

I also called today and got the same answer as @Abubobworth . I was told the decision pending and other applicants would be reviewed around mid May and get final decisions sent out shortly thereafter. After that its the waitlist game.

No acceptance is also a possibility, now that anyone who was holding a spot but will be going elsewhere has been removed from the pot.
But they over accept, so it's not like a spot opened up for every person who withdrew. =/ I'm just confused why they don't just officially wait list us, as that's basically what this is.

Because it's probably one less email batch they have to send notifying people of waitlists, and because it's easier, and because they can. :bigtears:

I feel like it should be a rule that all post-interview decisions should be sent out by April 30th. If we have to make a decision by then, they should too.

So, I just signed onto my portal and whatnot and under registration and records>student information>campus, it says Chicago. However, I have not received a site placement e-mail and I JUST sent in my preference card and deposit etc today. Does anyone know if that is representative of site placement, or does it just say Chicago for everyone until they are placed?

EDIT: I also just received an e-mail with my financial aid package that also says site: chicago
