2015-2016 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So, I just signed onto my portal and whatnot and under registration and records>student information>campus, it says Chicago. However, I have not received a site placement e-mail and I JUST sent in my preference card and deposit etc today. Does anyone know if that is representative of site placement, or does it just say Chicago for everyone until they are placed?

EDIT: I also just received an e-mail with my financial aid package that also says site: chicago
I think it just says that. Other people thought that had Chicago as well because it was on one of the forms. If you just sent in your preference card hold tight... They will send you your placement soon. I hope you get the campus you want!

Are IMED/GMED/UMED/RMED evaluations over? Been a while since my interview.

I was told the decision pending and other applicants would be reviewed around mid May and get final decisions sent out shortly thereafter. After that its the waitlist game.

Given that accepted applicants were supposed to decide on a school by now, I want to assume UICOM will send out just enough acceptances to fill their open seats. I wonder how many open seats they usually have, and how many people are usually left to fill them.

They are supposed to do that by March 15th. Any acceptances after those are for anticipated or actual vacancies.

Has anyone from earlier in the year (not somebody who interviewed this month) actually gotten either rejected or waitlisted? Or have they only accepted people or kept them in decision pending?

I've been in decision pending since December. :/ but I got an email about being on post interview hold in December as well. In that email they said we'd hear back at the end of April, but I haven't gotten anything yet. Still in decision pending. :/

Horrible. I didn't even get that...I don't know what to think anymore. 🙁

Hey fellas...I have a few questions and paranoia if someone can help me with:
1) I finished the qualtrics survey and have created my net ID over this past weekend but haven't been assigned to the orientation yet. Is anyone who recently got accepted having the same problem?
2)10-panel drug screen - Is this something that we get it done at our expense and then upload the results on that website link that they sent? The instructions that were sent as part of the checklist didn't specify anything.

Having this partial information makes me wonder if I am wait-listed (just paranoia i hope). Is this what the rest of you went through as well? Additionally, for campus placement apart from that scanned document which has a tiny black X near the Chicago track, do they send anything else?

Thanks in advance for addressing my questions and paranoia 😀

What qualtrics survey? And what do you mean being assigned to the orientation? Orientation depends on campus placement and has a set date for each campus. If you have received a letter saying you have been accepted, you clearly have not been waitlisted.

I'm getting my drug screen done through my GP.

I got the Qualtrics survey, too, and since it contained a lot of information about the white coat ceremony, I'm thinking it's only for people at the Chicago site. I also don't know what you mean about being assigned to orientation. Pretty sure that orientation is August 10th and August 11th with Task Day on the 9th (and I don't even know what Task Day is tbh). I called today about the HIPAA, OSHA, Respiratory Fit Test, and Influenza requirements on the CastleBranch website, and it looks like there's been a lot of responsibility turnover across departments in terms of who should be informing us about the specifics of those requirements (along with the drug screen). They said they'll be getting back to me ASAP with any information about it, so I'll relay it here if I hear anything else. I also plan to get the drug screening done through my primary care doctor.

And that's definitely just paranoia. You're in.

Survey is universal. Received for UPR. Pseudo-white coat ceremony occurs during orientation for Urbana peeps, but is only for students, faculty and staff. Real ceremony is during M2.

My drug test is out-of-pocket. My insurance is unwilling to pay.

Google shows this for CertifiedProfile related questions for those Chicago bound: http://www.medicine.uic.edu/UserFil...ile/Admissions Files/Chicago immunization.pdf

How did I miss this? Thanks! I wonder why we're required to do this drug panel now then.

Maybe it is new. It would make sense that they would clear a M3 of illicit drugs to ensure that they are fit for clinical duties, but I don't know why they would bother for M1's....Maybe they had an issue in the not so recent past with drug use? No idea. All I know is that I am about ~$150.

When did you get the survey? Who did it come from? I'm fairly certain I've not received it, and I'm UPR.

It's a survey/intake form basically introducing yourself. It was sent to everyone via email by the admissions office on the 2nd (that's when I got mine). The survey was just one small part of a larger checklist.

I'm glad people mentioned that; I totally missed it in that email...

When you activate your Blackboard account, you will be provided with a prompt to complete the survey.

You can access Blackboard via your UIC.edu portal.

Are you trying to make a NetID, but getting the error code that your information is incorrect? If so you will have to call that phone number on the error message and go through the menu until you get someone who can give you your TCN. It took me a couple days to find it in the menu. I believe the first submenu you enter is "registration".

For those that live in Chicago, UIC does the drug screening at the University Health Services for $51.

Address: 835 S Wolcott Ave, Chicago, IL 60612

Thanks! This is a really good price. I was looking online for places in Chicago and it was pretty pricey. Thanks a lot!

Question.. Do you all know when the drug panel & immunization records have to be uploaded by?

Thanks!

I think I read somewhere that says as long as you have it all done before orientation. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. As for Hep B, you just have to be in the process of getting it since we have to wait 6 months between the second and third shots.

Is the drug panel only for UPR? I'm in Chicago and it doesn't show up in my CertifiedProfile as a requirement.

No, you need to add it in as another order. They sent an email to everyone last week.

Though I am not in your position banana, I am kind of frustrated for you. What is the purpose of them not even holding a finalized decision post interview almost TWO WEEKS after the multiple acceptance deadline? With all due respect, I think their administration processes may need some revamping.
Yeah this is the sort of thing I really wasn't prepared for coming into it. Obviously when I didn't hear back in February and others did I knew in my heart it was a rejection, but it really does sting that the school deems it appropriate to do this. I don't think it's too much to ask to have a decision by the time I have to submit the new AMCAS, but at this point I don't even know if that will happen.

So could today be the day for us decision pending-ers? Or is next week technically mid may?

Just called the office - although I know many of us have been calling. Guy I talked to said we should have decisions by end of May - this could be either a final decision (accept/reject) or a waitlist position, along with your rank on the waitlist. I asked if they were meeting today and he said he wasn't sure - that usually it's the 3rd week of the month. Not much help, I know, but best we are going to get at this point. I'm very surprised that they still don't have a waitlist, considering many schools are already starting to pull off their lists. Doesn't seem very productive :/.

Lol this is seriously ridiculous. I'm about five seconds away from withdrawing from this school.

And thanks for calling!

I called and they said the meeting is next week. The decision could be anything. Doesn't really make sense from a strategic perspective, as by the time people get their decisions students who have been accepted elsewhere would have long since made other arrangements.

For what it's worth, my co-worker's friend's daughter was put on the waitlist in June and was accepted a few days later so there's still hope! (I want to say this was 1-2 years ago; she was a reapplicant who graduated from U of I with a degree in bio iirc)

I think I mentioned it before in this thread, but MSAR claims UIC accepts 60-80 students off the waitlist. That's a very large number all things considered. If you are eventually placed on the waitlist, especially as an IL resident, your chances are still decent. They only interview about 530 IS and I would imagine about 350+ of those have already been given an offer.

I think the issue is that there are some ppl not even waitlisted..they haven't heard anything back post ii, and at this date it's kind of unorthodox

MSAR says 60-80 waitlists spots are given per cycle but doesn't say how many of them are admitted.

It also says applicants are notified of status by June 1 and waitlist is active through mid July.
