Complete on 7/27, OOS - "Applicant in process"

Where does it say "Applicant in progress" and all that other info?

All I see at the bottom of the page is "Your Application has been successfully submitted. Your IPAY Transaction ID is: ##############. Although you may still view your application, no further changes will be allowed."

Am I looking at the right place? It's been saying that since I submitted, including after I got an interview e-mail yesterday

For me, the times were on the second page of the application portal--have to hit next at the bottom go page over to it. It was a table of dates/times that you call to schedule!

Ah maybe I need to give it some time to update - tabbed through my application and don't see anything with dates/times haha

You have to go to a separate site to view your application status. http://services.com.uic.edu/appstat

you're on the wrong website, this is the website to check your status

Completed secondary on 7/20, but still haven't heard anything even though people completed later in July and even in August have. Status still says "Applicant in Process", anyone in a similar situation or know if they don't necessarily review applications in the order they were submitted?

II! IS, complete 7/31. 🙂

Also FYI: all the Chicago dates are full at this time, despite what the portal says.

Submitted 8/7 but on the status webpage they say they didn't download the letters until the 20th. People who recieved II's complete around 8/7, what was the status of your letters?
I submitted my secondary 8/7 and the portal says that my letters were received 8/12. I had received the secondary about two weeks before that, so I assigned the letters via AMCAS around then (late July).

@iuvmedicine2 that is an error message. If all your materials are in I would call them. I had that despite the portal saying all my materials had been received. I called admissions and they changed it right away to file in process.

Can anyone speak on how long it took for your status to change from "admission letter review" to "file in process"? Thanks!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just called and the lady in admissions downloaded my letters on the spot. I am now "in progress."

Hello guys, thinking of applying here. I got the secondary and working on the app. I am a non-trad student and only have 2 academic LOR, I have 2 more from my employers (both MD's). Can I use one of my non-academic LOR in the app? anyone know? I'm OOS

Scheduled my interview on Monday for 10/2. I hope to see some of you there!

No idea on a situation that specific but I did use 2 non academic letters for all schools with 3 academic ones

Progress means has not been read yet, process means it's being reviewed

For those of you with "awaiting admission letter review," when you called, did the lady immediately download your letters?

I called on Monday and she said she wasn't able to download it and that she'll contact IT. It's Wednesday, and it's still not downloaded. I called today and the lady basically told me that it's an IT problem. She didn't even try to download it for me. I'm just so frustrated since this process is rolling and I submitted my secondary 2 weeks ago. How is this fair 🙁 I guess I can only wait now for them to fix their system?

Just got an email from their admission office telling me that one of my LOR is missing the signature and is not in a letterhead, therefore my file is incomplete. I am SHOCKED and bummed that my professor did not follow instructions. I am wondering if that its is hurting my candidacy in other schools as well WTF....

I've been complete here since mid-July and am still "applicant in progress." I'm starting to rethink the notion that "progress" means they just haven't looked at your app, especially after a more thorough reading of last year's thread. Apparently, many people never move beyond progress at all.

So in reality, it's more like this:

Progress: your app is sitting there complete. People may give it a cursory glance in order to consider whether you're fit for consideration, so to speak. At that point, you will move to process. If they don't like you, you stay in progress.

Process: They're decided your app is good enough to seriously consider you for an interview. Doesn't mean you will get one, but it's at least being seriously thought about.

Application in Process: they've mulled it over and decided to toss your app to the alternate pile. Later on in the cycle when they've gone through more of their "in process" applications and still have IIs left, they may decide to look at you again.

Anyway, not sure why they hate me so much to keep me in progress despite being IS but oh well. I've got 2IIs so far and still another 18 schools to hear back from, so I guess you win some and lose some.

You really can't think this way. This isn't the college application pool where you may have gotten into almost all the schools you applied to. You are one of thousands of applicants who are also IS and all equally qualified (are you ready to say that you 100% deserve an interview over them? over the people on this thread?), and even though SDN may culture a different attitude and we're all pretty used to getting what we want since we're superstars, to have even a few interviews in this incredibly competitive application process should be viewed as a major success.

I've got 2IIs so far and still another 18 schools to hear back from, so I guess you win some and lose some.

Congratulations on your other two interviews; enjoy them, and relax. Enjoy your other two interviews, and if UICOM does eventually work out, that's great, hopefully you get that email!

(And this is really for everyone, so don't feel singled out): Once you're in med school, no one is going to care that you got an interview in August vs March. If it helps, I didn't have a second interview at this time last year (and plenty of people didn't have 1...but hey, there were people who hadn't had any interviews and then got interviewed in June, so imagine how it was for them the entire application cycle - and look where they are now!). All that will matter is that you'll be in med school, you'll be a doctor, and have to work your butt off regardless. So best of luck! 😛

I also wanted to thank you for posting this - I wouldn't have known to call otherwise! Who knows how long my letters would've been in limbo and my file incomplete, scary thought...

Wait so did the admissions lady just download your letter on the spot?

They said mine's not download-able and told me to wait for IT to fix it. Who knows how long that's gonna take...I'm stuck in limbo like you said...

Yeah, she asked for my AMCAS ID, told me my letter packet looked good to go, then downloaded it and changed my status immediately (lol I checked). I'm sorry to hear about your letter - fingers crossed they'll fix it quick!!

mine has said applicant in process for awhile and i dont know what that means but it doesnt seem like anyone does.

does anyone know the % of accepted interviewed applicants?

I had the same question and stalked the 2014-2015 thread. Someone said that at the interview last year, the admin told them that 800-900 get interviewed, and 600 get in.
Oh awesome thanks! Is that including OOS(I'm OOS)

Last year roughly 300 OOS people were interviewed and 60 matriculated, if you factor in the general 2:1 ratio of people getting acceptances versus matriculating it seems like 120/300, some people have said that ratio can even go up to 2/3rd of interviewees get accepted on the high end, which gives you anywhere from 120-200 out of 300 OOS applicants get accepted.

those are pretty decent odds ill take it!

Hello Everyone! I am an M1 currently here at UIC-COM at the Chicago campus. If you have any questions throughout the process feel free to PM me. UIC has been a great school so far and has an amazing student body. I'd be happy to answer anything to the best of my ability, although forgive me if my responses aren't exactly timely. I'm pretty good about keeping up though! Good luck to all of you!!

Thanks, a question a lot of us probably have so I'll ask is about the campus placement. I'm from the suburbs and so obviously would really want to go to the Chicago campus, is it rare to not be placed where you want? Could you explain that process plz 🙂

Thats a good question. The likelihood that you will get placed at the site you want depends on a few factors. The biggest factor being when you interview and how soon you are accepted following that interview. The earlier that you receive an acceptance, the higher your chances are of securing the site you want. That being said, if you are accepted later on in the interview cycle it will depend mainly on your background as a medical school candidate. UIC likes to have balanced diversity at all campus sites, so for example say that 1 male and 1 female both submit their campus preference as Chicago around January/February. If the last candidate accepted to the Chicago campus was a female, then the male will most likely secure the spot before the female. This helps to create the quote on quote "Balance" that the campus try to have.

Keep in mind there are a multitude of factors at play, but generally that is how the process works. To give you some numbers:
My class in Chicago is 197 people strong, one of the largest classes UIC has had in a while. The rest of the campuses have about 140 students collectively, so its almost a 50/50 split.
