2015-2016 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is there a UIC Class of 2020 thread somewhere for all of us who are accepted and going to UIC this August?
There's one specifically for UPR and one that is currently for all students, but will become just for Chicago eventually. Look up University of Illinois College of Medicine - Class of 2020 and UPR class of 2020 - U of Illinois College of Medicine

Hey I was wondering how to get to the accepted student portal?

I've been accepted for about a month with no word on financial aid, loans ext

And they are not very responsive 🙁

Thanks everyone!

You have to wait for your financial aid letter. It contains your ID number and instructions on how to get on the portal.

Yup! And I received the same email sans attachment yesterday, so I called today and it was resent with the attachment. I'm no stranger to making that mistake.

Just out of curiosity, when accepted did you get a Chicago placement?

Unfortunately, nope. It was my top choice for many reasons, including UMed. Too bad something similar can't be created in Peoria.

Hey is there a more direct way then through the admissions number/email address to reach the UIC admins in charge of campus placement? Thanks!

So, for anyone who remembers that I didn't get that email from Nora Few directed at first year UPR students; it turns out that somehow I was listed as being placed in Peoria for first year as well as M2-M4, so I wasn't on anyone's list of first year students! I spoke with admissions yesterdays, and everything's been cleared up.

Nice! Glad to hear. Does anyone know when second look day is for UPR? And is it at each respective campus? As of now I am on the Rockford track for M2-M4.

Peoria is next Friday, 15th April. Not sure about Rockford though.

Has anyone been II'ed or rejected after being placed in the "ApplicaTION in process" pile (pre-II hold)?
I wish UIC would accept updates at this point of the season...

I'm there. It hasn't changed since I've been put there.
Same here. Been in "applicant in process" since September.

Disregard the above comment. Just noticed you mentioned "application in process" instead of "applicant in process".

Anyone assigned UPR that got invited for a UMed/GMed interview NOT get the UIC Second Look Day RSVP form? I got another from Peoria (since I didn't RSVP for theirs initially due to plans to attend Rush's), but I haven't gotten anything from Chicago.

Also, I know there are 24 UMed positions overall, but does anyone have any stats on how many UMed invites are handed out?

I haven't received the second look invite either.

Haha so apparently I've gone from "Application in Process" to "Application IS in Process". Don't know if this is a completely new status or if they're just sprucing up their status grammar. Probably the latter. Anyone else in the same boat?

If any current students care to comment, is senior AOA announced in time for residency applications?

Anyone know where we petition for site changes? And how long does it take for them to get back to you?

My financial aid info updated that I'm in UPR rather than Chicago, so my living expenses (and hence loan amounts) are now less. So people who don't know their site yet, but do have financial aid info might be able to learn it that way.

How long post-interview has everyone been hearing back in regards to their decision? I recently interviewed. Thanks you!

The committee meets every third Thursday of the month, and portal updates are typically posted that day or the next day. But some of us have been waiting for months and still haven't heard anything.

Usually if there's five thursdays in a month, they meet on the fourth thursday. :/

Bananafish told me that someone called and asked and said they'd be meeting this week and making decisions on all applicants!

They actually said by the end of this month but I assumed it would be today because of the third Thursday rule

By the end of the month they are giving everyone a decision?

According to my source, yes. But I'm pretty sure they've figured out who I am in real life and enjoy watching me post my torment on sdn, so maybe I'll have to wait until 2026 or so

+1 They've probably designated me to be in Decision Pending purgatory for eternity (any other Sept 14 interviewers with me? lol)

My PI works in MD/Ph.D admissions and was talking about the process with me, and I'm assuming that MD admissions are similar. He says that they interview people, score their application, and every time they meet they have a certain score above which automatically gets an acceptance, and below which gets a waitlist. Every subsequent week the threshold score for acceptance gets a little bit lower, which explains why people are often accepted months after their interview. But seeing as they are done with interviews and this is their last month for their regular meeting, I don't see a possible reason why they wouldn't decide on everyone at this time.
