I'm just surprised that everyone who is decision pending hasn't gotten a portal update.

Yeah me too! I'm not sure if we're all waitlisted and that doesn't count as a "final decision" or if they just didn't update us or what, but it makes me a bit concerned about whether I'll even finally actually hear anything haha.

Belated congratulations on making it out of the decision pending limbo and being accepted btw, thanks for supporting all of us who are still pending!

Thanks! It happened to me, so I have to believe it can happen to everyone else!

Hi everyone, I got accepted back in February and I haven't received my financial aid package yet, is anyone on the same boat? I read some posts way back then about checking it online somehow?

Did you not get an email saying you had an award letter?

Do they put the site placement online? Or just mail it to you? I turned in my acceptance forms yesterday & my portal already updated to show that I paid the deposit.

Still no portal update. Are they seriously not going to give us our decisions before the deadline??

Call the College of Medicine financial aid office (not the admissions office). They sent mine to the wrong email. It should also be in your portal if you know how to navigate it. I didn't have access to the portal because you need your ID number, so when I called the financial aid office they gave me my ID number so I could create an account right away to access my letter. Then they also sent me the letter once the email was corrected.

So I got the rejection letter today but I was invited to apply to the Post-baccalaureate Admission Program that includes guaranteed admission for 2017. I'm doing it! Whatever it takes to get there!

Best of luck everyone!! Everyone's journey is different. Have faith and be encouraged!

Ditto!

Interviewed in January and have been "Decision Pending" ever since. Given that some people have been accepted/rejected in the last 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything, I'm assuming I will be officially waitlisted on Monday.

Does UICOM tell people what position they are in within the list? How many people do they typically accept off the waitlist? When do most of the waitlisted people hear back, and when was the latest someone heard back? And lastly, will they accepts any more information, like another rec letter or at least an email saying "I'm still interested, if you accept me I will definitely attend your school"?

I do plan on calling admissions on Monday, but I wanted to see if anyone here has insight from previous years. Thanks in advance.

Wow that's a bit ridiculous on the part of the admissions office; I was thinking it was late that I interviewed in March and hadn't heard yet. I'm not sure if wait listing counts as a final decision, but it certainly counts for AMCAS's April 30th (May 2nd, really) deadline, so whatever the decision they'll need to tell us on Monday.
Just curious, are you in-state?

That was supposed to be a reply, oops

Do you know if that means they have to tell us if we call and ask on Monday? I'd like to finally know as well and I don't trust that whatever they supposedly sent will even get to me on Monday or really at any point given how painfully slow this has been :/

Also I believe in the past they ranked the waitlist in quartiles, but people on last year's thread were saying they were taking people off the second quartile of the waitlist before first quartile people at some points so take that for what it's worth I guess.

They've been painfully unhelpful when I've called. I asked if they could tell me if my letter had been sent, and they just said, "we've been sending letters all week, you should hear by the end of the week", and then another time they said that I may not hear until June =/ so if you call on Monday, I'd suggest crying to elicit sympathy

Abubobworth: yeah, I'm instate. This process is painful for us, but I imagine it's just due to the sheer number of applicants.

user933: I'm only assuming they will update the status pages, and the AMCAS deadline gives us good reason to call if they don't. Do you remember if last year's applicants got status page changes to "waitlist" or something around this time? From what you're saying, it sounds like UICOM will eventually tell people their spot in the list, and I'm hoping this information comes soon.

Everyone please don't be down on yourself if you haven't been accepted yet esp if you're still in undergrad or this is your first application cycle. If I told you all my full story you'd probably think I was a fool for still trying. But look I've been accepted after the third go around. Please don't be hard on yourselves. If you received interviews they saw something in you. Please stay encouraged & don't let ANYTHING stop you from becoming a doctor. I'm rooting for you all esp @bananafish94

I was waitlisted last year; the status page will say waitlisted.

They tell you if you are in first or second quartiles. I don't think they even have a 3rd quartile despite the name.

1st quartile has a good shot of getting in (I want to say 66% or higher) since there is a lot of movement, and 2nd has a much lower chance. Last year, they started pulling from the 2nd before the 1st fully ended, so I don't even know if it is a strict list.

Thank you very much for clarifying! Sorry to pick your brain, but since this is the case, do you think that all portals will have some sort of decision on Monday?

Withdrew from UIC and UMed. I hope the Chicago spot goes to one of you all!

Does anyone know by what date one can file a campus appeal? Also, if one is on the UPR track assigned to Rockford/Peoria, can we switch campus location during the M1 year?

Thanks for the help! Sorry if these topics have been beaten to death

Surprise surprise, still says Decision Pending
I'm beginning to wonder if they do silent rejections? On Thursday I called them and they said that they had mailed all final correspondence on Wednesday. I haven't received anything yet. I only live ~2 hours away from Chicago and I can't imagine a letter taking 6 days to get here.

Yeah I live in Chicago city limits and still no letter; I've called three times and been told each time that letters have been sent, and then another time I was told they'll keep sending letters through the end of May and maybe even June. I feel like the admissions office is jerking is around, and that the folks who answer the phones can't really help because they can't look at our specific files.

At this point I'm 98% certain it's a rejection but it would've been nice just to be told the truth.

My letter didn't come until a full week after I was told that it had been mailed and I live in the city of Chicago. I know it's extremely difficult, but please keep being patient. I hope it works out for you!

At what point was the online portal updated for you?

Illinois is over. I just wish they would tell me. I feel like this people forget that we're not just numbers sometimes.

do we know for sure they are not offering any more acceptances for decision pending folks?

My friend just told me she called them on Thursday as well and they said they were still making decisions. So somebody there is lying. Either way the chances of getting good news this late is infinitesimally small.

I don't think that the front desk people who pick up the calls actually know about what is happening in admissions; they also don't seem to be fully aware of all the lingo when it comes to the admissions process. I would just give it a rest, and when decisions come, they'll come. UIC's admissions office seems to be a mess when it comes to providing consistent, accurate information.

This is spot on. They don't, and they are purposely put in that position. Think of it like a customer service for comcast. They can give you generic answers and assistance, but have nothing plot changing or enlightening to provide.

Ah well that probably means I haven't even been reviewed yet, seeing as it's been saying decision pending since mid-April.

Unless that's code for wait list?
For me, the online portal was updated at the first adcom meeting after my interview. I received the snail mail over a week after the portal update.

Hey, so question.

I just got the checklist, but it doesn't say anything about immunizations. I just want to make sure I have everything in order. Am I missing something?

in the initial fat packet there is a form that explains the immunizations. There is a portal that we have to upload the immunizations to. The link to the website is on this form.
