2015-2016 University of Maryland Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got the acceptance call on Tuesday (12/15) and I got my letter on Monday (12/21). I live out of state. Interviewed 11/18.
Out of curiosity, was there a date on the letter..?! Interviewed the same day but haven't heard anything -_-

edit: CONGRATS !!

There is, look back a couple weeks of posts and you'll see.
I looked back and all I found was people talking about it but not definitive group. Do you happen to know what the Facebook group is called if it exists? I am really interested in connecting with other accepted students.

II! This is my top choice. Is there anyway that if someone cancels their interview I may take the slot to have an earlier date? It says once you choose it cannot be changed. Is anyone planning on withdrawing an II?

CONGRATS. May you provide us with stats and the month that you submitted your secondary application!

Also, are are an in-state applicant and when is your interview currently scheduled?

IS 3.7 510 complete in December of all times. March 2 with 5 more dates available for anyone still waiting. If anyone can let me know about possibility of finding an earlier date I would really appreciate it! I hope I have a chance!

I don't know if this has been answered already but I have my interview on Feb 1st and was wondering if they let you send updates with grades and spring courses and where that can be sent to, if allowed.

Also waitlisted at the end of October and then I received the acceptance packet Friday! This school is my top choice so very excited! Has anyone made a class of 2020 FB group yet?
I also second the question above, Did you do anything between waitlist and the acceptance? (Update, LOI, etc.)

I'm on the waitlist as well and I have been sending the school periodic updates of my grades via email and they just add it to your file.

Anyone else who interviewed 11/18 (or earlier) waiting to hear back...?! Patiently stalking my mailbox looking for a letter... I'm on the fence about calling the office to see if they know when I can expect a decision ( I thought they said 4-6 weeks, and even factoring in the holidays I think it should have been by now...)

I also interviewed 11/18 and am anxiously stalking my mailbox as well. I am going to wait at least one more week. But if you call and find something out that would be great!

hello. Did anyone apply to the combined MD/MS program-public policy?
If you don't qualify for dual do you get automatic deferral for the regular MD program?
Have not heard from them yet but just curious
thanks

Think there's any hope for an II at this point? Out of my OOS schools, this is one I'm most keen on interviewing at. I don't think I've received a rejection, as I've checked snail mail and nothing has arrived through that. Would the rejection status be online? I checked the secondary page, and the only communication has been the secondary invite back in October. And how OOS friendly are they?

Having gone through MD/Masters process at Maryland few cycles ago, I believe 2 separate committees (MD only and Masters program) have to ok your application. If masters says no, i m pretty sure it automatically gets deferred to MD only.

I feel like maryland is pretty open to out of staters compared to other state schools (not as much as private schools obviously). 25% of our class is OOS, but most have some connections to Maryland (went to Hopkins or other schools in MD/DC/VA area or worked in Baltimore). I believe we interview people until the end of March so not quite a time to give up hope yet.

Well that gives me hope!!! OOS with ties to Maryland. Also put on hold in November. I would loveeeeeee an interview here.

Interviewed today and I really enjoyed my experience! Both my interviewers were really nice and engaging. They really knew my application and seemed interested in getting to know me! Love that they only have class from 8-12 and I love the facilities!

Anyone know how much time is left in the interview season? I was put on pre-II hold in the fall and wondering if it's worth it to send an update soon.

I've been complete since October...no pre-hold status or anything, anyone in the same position?

First post on SDN... Just wanted to let everyone know that the waitlist actually does move at Maryland. Dr. Foxwell called me earlier this week and told me I was accepted. I interviewed in early October, received a waitlist letter in November, and found out a month later I was accepted. To all those on the waitlist, don't give up hope!

When you got your waitlist letter did it say that your application would be further reviewed in April?

Received waitlist letter yesterday dated January 12. Interviewed 11/18. Will send an update letter within the next two weeks. I went through this last year. Good luck to those who are still awaiting news!

For accepted students, how long did it take after sending in your acceptance form (to reserve your seat) for you to get the acknowledgement letter? With the holidays, I was not able to send my signed form back until a few days before the 3 weeks deadline. I called UMD to check it was received, and the woman in admissions told me I should get confirmation via mail soon (but would not give me official confirmation over the phone). That was a week and a half ago.

I didn't ever get an email confirmation, I got a letter from Dr. Foxwell in the mail. I wouldn't panic too much - the holidays cause a lot of backlog.

II for MD/MPH, one date first week of February and one first week of March, really excited about this school!

Edit: complete late July, early August

When does the class entering in 2016 have their orientation week? I can find no information about this online for some reason.
