I've heard its pretty likely, and they pull a good amount from the waitlist every year. That being said, I don't know how late the students were notified. I'm praying for a waitlist at this point.

Based on previous year's posts it feels like a lot more than 75 get wait listed though.

I feel your pain awd. Does anyone have any insight/conspiracy theories on this matter? Is it better to be waitlisted or in silence at this point?

I interviewed the first week of October and have had complete silence...I called them but they said the usual "we'll let you know when we want to"
 
How receptive is UMass to letters of intent? Would it make any difference?

Not really sure how UMass in particular treats Letters of Intent, but it strikes me as the sort of gesture that really can't hurt you (assuming the content is appropriate and relevant). If UMass really is your #1-would-definitely-go-no-questions-asked school, then I say go for it and send one. It would be great to include any new updates or additional LORs as well. If you have any big news coming up in the near future, you could mention those now or wait to mention them after they're done (if people are already moving off the waitlist, I guess I'd opt for sending a letter sooner as the safest option).
 
So is it pretty much waitlist or bust now if we haven't heard anything since a winter interview?
 
So I called UMass today in the hopes that they might be able to disclose whether my application has been reviewed. Unfortunately, all that I was told is that they are aware that the deadline is approaching next week, and they are trying their best to review everyone within the next few weeks. Fingers crossed that we all hear some good news soon :xf:

They said the same thing when I called. I don't understand though...what happens if they don't get a chance to review everyone's app by the 30th?

I wanted to ask that, but tbh I felt a bit embarrassed. After talking to current med students, I believe that if you were accepted elsewhere then you will commit to that other school. When you hear back from UMass, if it is a wait-list position and/or an acceptance you can actually switch your commitment to UMass. It is just a waiting game, and can be difficult if you need to move across the country and find an apartment soonish...

Wow I was under the impression that we had to hear back from every school before that deadline. Still waiting impatiently here since end of November...

Yeah this is all very very frustrating... When I called, I asked if there were any seats left in the class or if at this point it was just waitlist/rejection. They said there were seats left but who knows.
 
Has UMass given out any decisions today? Been staring at SDN all day, and no one has posted :whistle:
 
They need to release decisions by Friday right?

I called last week to clarify and was told that everyone would hear back by Friday. I personally know a few people who were wait listed today so I expect the waitlists and rejections will roll out later this week.
 
is it safe to assume that if we haven't heard back at this point, that we are going to be rejected? I called today and asked, and was told "you just have to be patient at this point." Last time I asked, I was told that there were definitely seats/wait lists possibilities left. On previous year threads, it seems like once the rejections starting rolling out, no one else was wait listed...
 
Also rejected- interviewed in October. Pretty shocked about this one quite honestly as I've had quite the relationship with this school already! Oh well. Best of luck to those of you still waiting to hear.
 
+1 Oct interview reject. 🙁 Super disappointed but grateful to have an offer elsewhere.

I'm so sorry, but on the bright side you got in somewhere and are going to be a doctor! May I ask, did you get the e-mail also around noon time or just now?
 
Anyone who has been rejected, did your portal stop working once you got the rejection? I was on the portal all day refreshing and all of a sudden I was kicked off and now it is saying that my password is invalid, but I have yet to receive an e-mail.
 
Rejected just now, elated to have an acceptance elsewhere but disappointed not to get into my dream school. Good luck everyone!

sorry but yes that did happen. Got rejected around 3pm today
