Anybody have an idea about what percent of interviewees get deferred? Trying to gauge my chances.

Depends on what this next tracker looks like. I'll do my calculations and let you know then. Are you IS or OOS?

New tracker is up! Looks like Nov had the highest acceptance rate for IS thus far.

I'm going to guess that they are going to accept 6 more IS deferred, and I'm guessing that the 6 they did accept were IS. It looks like they'r being really conservative about taking IS people, trying not to overcommit. It's hard to say how many of use there are that are deferred, but I'm guessing there are roughly 30ish IS deferred, so that puts our chance at about 20%. Granted, this is all educated guesswork.

So looking at the tracker. If I interview at the end of January, will I be competing for like 25 seats??

Is anyone having trouble filling out the Needs Assessment survey? The link they provided in the email just continually refreshes so I cant access the form...

Do they favor in states residents at U of M Ann Harbor?

Can we expect any IIs for IS applicants in January ? or are they done giving IIs ?

This is happening to me too, did you find out how to fix it?

I called the admissions team and they told me that it was an issue with the site, if you clicked on the link but didn't initially fill it out the form (just wanted to see the information and come back to it later). They told me they'd reset the link so I could access the page, but they haven't seemed to do it yet. They emailed me this info on the 21st. Do you think its inappropriate to send a follow up email over the holidays?

Ah ok that makes sense! I don't think it's inappropriate to follow up but I also don't think they are in the office right now, so I guess we'll have to wait!

So I have an interview in January but when finishing up the interview confirmation questions, there was a link that said "institution home page" and when I clicked it, it took me to a masters program offered by the school (https://medicine.umich.edu/medschool/education/masters-programs). Did everyone notice this? Is this a mistake? Or is this telling my future (they are going to recommend this program and it's just a courtesy interview)?

Edit: this link is under "view details" under the interview confirmation section.

That's an error someone pointed out earlier. Just disregard it. And best of luck with your interview!

6 more IIs today and more to come through end of this month according to their tweet. Hope some of them go to IS applicants.

BUMP! To those who interviewed/were accepted/ attend U of M....any advice you might have for a university student looking to apply here in a few years?!? Any tips or unwritten requirements that came in handy?? This would be my absolute number 1. GO BLUE!!!!

People whom have already interviewed: In addition to learning more about the school and knowing my own app very well, is there anything else I should do to prepare for my upcoming interview? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just have fun, it really is meant to be (and was for me) a fun day.

Agreed above. Just enjoy the day, it was a ton of fun. But for something that helped me, try generally prepping for the MMI. People say it's impossible to prep for the MMI, and it is hard to know the exact questions to be ready for, but it was helpful for me to go over practice questions online prior to the interview day so I could get used to thinking under the time constraint.

Anyone have any idea of what the average merit scholarship offer is to OOS?

According to the new tracker, there are 30 OOS admissions remaining and 21 IS

I'm an OOS applicant and received a deferred decision - does anyone know how many interview days remain, and, more immediately, what the chances realistically are of getting an offer off of the deferred list at this point? Are deferred applicants re-evaluated monthly as new interviewees get their look, or do we wait until March?

I am really trying to manage my expectations but uMichigan made such a great impression, felt like an incredible fit, and is by far my first choice right now. As such I'm also wondering whether the committee is receptive to letters of intent, and if it would be wise to send that sooner, or to wait till later in the cycle. Any other actions that one might take besides uploading occasional meaningful updates to the portal?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I wish there was more to say on this subject, but it's pretty hard to predict! I believe the deferred applicants will be reviewed again in March. The deferred status says we could be accepted anytime between now and March 15, but I wouldn't expect to hear anything before March 15. Going by the tracker, it looks like they're pretty on track to hit their projected acceptance numbers (100 IS and 250 OOS) so it's hard to see them accepting more deferred students unless they end up increasing the accepted students numbers, like they have in the past. I believe last year they accepted 120 IS, and I'm not sure about OOS, although I want to say it was 240? So I don't see much movement happening for OOS applicants. But this is all just conjecture and I really have no clues as to how it will all shake out. I think the portal is pretty much the only way to communicate with them at this point.

Good luck!

Thank you! Your conjecture, for what it's worth, is greatly appreciated.

I would go ahead and send in a LOI if UMich is really your top choice. Judging by how friendly UMich is and how they seem to really value the whole application package, I would be surprised if they weren't receptive to LOIs. FWIW, on my interview day, Carol told us that they give extra/special consideration if you are applying with a S.O. and to let them know so I think they will be receptive to LOIs as well. But only do it if it is your unconditional top choice, there are stories of applicants' getting their acceptances rescinded after schools talked and saw they were sending out intent letters to everyone...

On my way to a class in the Med Sci building, I passed a bunch of big "Interview Day" signs. I felt quite sad and inadequate, like a sweet party was going on there that I just wasn't invited to. It hurts that even with a 3.95 as an undergrad here, Michigan doesn't want to talk to me.

Anyway, does anyone know when their last interview day is? I'd like to finally have some closure.

Edit: Found it. February 12 will be the last one after today+pity+

But what was your MCAT?
510, which I do understand is bad compared to their stats. I just wish that I had gotten the chance to interview after doing well in undergrad here, doing research here, volunteering in the hospital here, and overall being very involved in the University.

I get that they're doing what they have to do, only having limited spots and everything. But it doesn't make it hurt any less.

Still waiting pre-II (lol) and was gonna upload an update tonight on the portal, but the buttons for uploading aren't there anymore. My previous update also isn't listed on there anymore. Anyone else have this issue?
Just checked mine and my two updates are there, and I'm still able to add more. Could just be some sort of glitch? Kind of looks like they updated the interface of the portal somewhat.

I would just e-mail/call and ask.
