2015-2016 University of Toledo Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey! do you remember when II began? thanks!

Just checked last years thread and the first II sent out to an SDN member was August 7th. From that thread, it also seems like the first date was August 7th for the 2013-2014 application cycle. So based on that, they should start coming out this week I would think.

Yes, I think they came out at the beginning of August. I didn't get an interview until a little bit later because I wasn't complete until mid-August

can someone post the list of secondary questions?

Current M1 here, I'd love to answer the few questions I possibly can. Good luck to all of you!

Anyone know the word/character count for their essays?

Anyone get a complete email?
I got the complete email twice, and here's a snippet of what the latest email said:

"I am resending out the communication piece that your University of Toledo Medical School is complete for review, it appears that not everyone has been receiving our e-mails. Please accept our apologies. If you have already received this notification, please disregard this e-mail. Thank you for your patience and cooperation in this matter.
The Committee will review applications from the end of August to the end of March 2016."

It seems that not everyone is getting an email regarding completion so if you are worried, I would send them an email or call to check on your status and explain that you never got the email.

Current M1 here. We just had our first exam earlier this week. Let me know if you have any questions.

I've heard from current students that they really do not like the school and feel that they aren't getting that great of an education. Can you just respond to that a little or does this just sound like the minority sentiment?

I am a current M1, and I have no idea who you heard this from, but I have never met anyone who says that. Part of the reason I chose Toledo was that at my interview, every single student/faculty member I talked to seemed like they genuinely loved the school. I love it, too. So far, it is a ton of work, but I think it is really great.

Thanks!
When are you heading to the good ol' buckeye state?
Oops forgot to mention I'm IS! But interviews start September 17th and I'm trying to get scheduled for September 28th? Good luck to you though I hope you'll get good news soon!

I can't compare to other schools since I don't know what they're like - but I will say that everyone seems pretty happy here. It's a very cooperative atmosphere that I find extremely helpful, both within our class and from the M2s. As far as the quality of education, objectively speaking, students score above average on Step I and the match list has been impressive (which you will get to see if you interview here). Of course, I'm sure not everyone feels the same, but I'd say my friends here would agree.

Could anyone who is a current student share with me how the interviews are done at Toledo?

Yeah that's a load of bull. Especially the pre-clinical years.

Roshambo

But really. You'll get a tour and 'cruitin pitch from the admissions dean. Then you'll have 2 30ish minute (I think?) interviews with faculty members.

Are they pretty laid back?

Depends. My first interviewer was clearly highly unprepared and printed my application in front of me. He also grilled me on some stuff. After having lectures from him, it totally makes sense. My second interview we just sat and talked for like 2 hours. Which again, after having lectures from him it totally makes sense haha.

From my experience they will run through your application to make sure that you match the person on the paper. And then each interviewer has a few questions they want you to ponder or reflect on. Nothing crazy, pretty standard stuff.

II yesterday afternoon!
Stats: IS, 28 MCAT, 3.8 GPA, 3.7 Science. Submitted: August 24

Good luck to everyone!

I am an early admissions applicant that interviewed last week! Accepted today and couldn't be any more thrilled! Love everything about the school!
