I haven't gotten any either. I'm sure they're just moving slower than regular MD. Don't lose hope its so early in the process!
 
Hey guys. I have been super bored so naturally, I have been reading the threads from last year for all the schools I applied to estimate when I should expect and II (if I am lucky enough to get one). It seems like UVA sends out IIs to EXTREMELY qualified applicants (like Lizzy M > 76) in late july into august and then sends out IIs to people closer to their average (around Lizzy 72/73) closer to mid-september regardless of when you were complete. Maybe that puts some of you at ease. Again, disclaimer, my only source is the SDN thread from last year.
 
Hey everyone! Got my first II two days ago from UVA. For any students that went through the process... did you guys do the student host program or did you stay in a hotel?

I would always do the student host program for any school since it's a great way to get a feel for what your life will be like at the school
 
Is UVA a research-focused school? It doesn't seem like it based on their website but just wanted to make sure..

I really want to do this but they encourage only asking to stay for one night, and I'll be in Charlottesville for a few days (that's just how the timing for my flights worked out). Hmmm...

You could book a hotel at the Cavalier Inn on Emmet Street or the Red Roof Hotel along the Corner at UVA. Or if you have any friends that attend UVA, you can ask them to crash for the weekend!

Check your spam or junk folders; also verify that you put the correct email address in AMCAS. UVA sends secondaries almost immediately after verification!
 
So when are UVA IIs expected? Seems like no one has gotten any for a while
 
On the first page of the UVA secondary application, it lists "MD/M.ED with a concentration in Medical Education" as one of the program options. However, I can't find any mention of this on their website (neither the medicine nor the graduate school website)... Do you know if they've discontinued this program?
 
Anyone get a red mark beside "app complete" saying "Your application is missing one or more of the required items."? I checked it just now and it popped up even though I have been complete since 8/3 and the "app complete" has also been green since. All my documents have been received and I did not receive any email. I will check tomorrow and send an email if its still like that...weird.

I'm having the same issue (even though I've been complete since 7/28). I'm assuming that it's just a glitch or something.

same issue. I have been complete for over a month.
 
For those with II's, does the "available" date change over time, or do they essentially offer you one date?
The date I see available doesn't work for me so I'm wondering if I will get a different date if I just wait it out? Thoughts?

When I got my II yesterday, there were 5 dates available during mid-October.
 
Does anyone know if UVA does silent rejections? Been complete since July and still nothing... OOS ~73-74
 
Hello UVA Applicants (aka medical school applicants who are far more qualified than me!!),

I go to UVA as a non-trad, post-bacc student. If you need a place to stay for your interview, you are welcome to crash on our futon. I live in Belmont, which is the non-undergrad oriented part of Charlottesville. A fair number of grad students live out this way because it's a great place to live and I would totally recommend it. I live in an absurdly large, beautiful house with my three awesome roommates, and we would be glad to host you for an evening or two.

I know one current UVA medical student, who, after I slipped on a soapy paper towel at our last house party, examined my knee and reassured me that I did not re-tear any of the ligaments in my left knee. He is rad and I'm 90% sure we're friends on Facebook so you could probably meet him if you want.

Anyway, feel free to DM me if you need a place to stay! Good luck!!!!!

MSTP II on 9/2. Complete on 8/25. OOS. LizzyM 74.

MSTP II today!

For those of you with interviews, how are you getting there? Flights to Charlottesville are pretty expensive, and I don't see an easy way to get to Charlottesville from Dulles or Richmond.

Amtrak travels from Richmond and Washington DC to Charlottesville, so that's a great option. Not sure about direct from Dulles.

If you don't mind renting a car, it's a pretty quick drive from Richmond.
 
If any other people who are interviewing Monday (the 28th) are already here or will be here tomorrow and want to grab dinner tomorrow night, dm me! It would be fun to meet some other interviewees before we get all suited up.

Yes, the school and city of charlottesville are VERY accepting of LGBT community. 🙂
 
Can any IS students tell me if they received confirmation of any kind after submitting their in-state tuition privileges form? I sent mine in but have yet to receive confirmation of any kind.

Do they send confirmation for receiving the in-state form before extending II's? I submitted mine a long time ago, but haven't gotten confirmation...

Virginia just started giving out MSTP IIs a week ago. Give it time.

Also, instate/out of state doesn't matter for MD/PhD programs. FWIW, I never got a "complete" email from Virginia, and I got an MSTP II, though I'm OOS.
 
I'm applying MD only. They say that if they do not receive your in state tuition form, they will not extend an interview offer. I sent it; but it would be nice to know they received it haha.

Interviewed here last year, and just wanted to share some travel tips. If you decide to fly into DC (especially National airport- DCA), I would take blue or yellow line metro (next to the airport) down to King street (2 stops from the airport) then take Amtrak (Alexandria station- next to the King street metro) to Charlottesville. The train is coming from the Unioin station and Alexandria is the first stop on the way to Charlottesville. So you can take the same train from DC, but it's much quicker to get to Alexandria from DCA. Also you could take greyhound bus from Springfield (blue line, about 5 stops from the airport) to Charlottesville. If you decide to fly into Richmond, yes it is very easy one hour drive. Good luck!

I'm an IS applicant and had the interview recently. I didn't get any email confirmation after sending the form to the vastatus email address. From what others have said on this thread, they didn't seem to get an email confirmation either, but someone did call the school to confirm if they received it.

You can take the train from Richmond or Amtrak from Burke station (fairly close to Dulles) or Union station. From there it's a short cab ride to UVA's campus. If you have a car, the drive from Dulles to Cville is actually quite nice (about 2 hours, 15 minutes if you take 66 to 29) and the drive from Richmond is even faster (1 hour on 64 West - just watch out for cops!).
