does everyone have the hold messages? I'm assuming they are just stating reasons a file could be on hold and are not actually stating my file IS on hold?
 
I don't think those are saying you have a hold, I think it's more just explanations for people if they see they have a hold

I was in a similar position. I emailed them explaining the situation and my status was updated within a few hours.
 
FINALLY complete. Secondary received 7/3 submitted 7/4 letters uploaded 7/10.

Completed around July 15ish!
 
haha I'm expecting nothing but a rejection. LM ~ 65 but research + public health + >1500 hours scribing while in school so heres to hoping
 
LizzyM tells us nothing about anyone's stats. 2 pieces of an enormous pie that makes up an applicant.
 
yeah haha I mean I'm hoping the fact that >2/3 apps get pre-screened before getting a secondary means something good hahah
 
Their site is down for me, interesting.... A lot of activity for some reason? It is known however that LizzyM isnt the make or break it for the majority of schools - background, volunteer work, passion, are much better markers, as long as you don't have kill-me scores in sections (sub 8)

Yuppp... that area of Richmond had a huge power outage and the VCU SOM buildings were actually evacuated 😱

(I live in Richmond, just in case anyone was wondering why I creepily know what's going on with the school)
 
Huh, interesting. I live in richmond too, and within the city limits actually. Must have only affected downtown areas

Yeah, it was pretty much all of downtown right around where the campus is. All of the traffic lights were out in like a 3-4 block stretch making driving around there more fun than it already is /sarcasm. Something about a blown transformer underground?

Did anyone get this? I'm trying to figure out what this means for me.

"The committee's file review indicates that they wish to consider your file over the next several weeks before making a decision about interview. Your file will be reviewed again by a small sub-committee before making a final decision. Once a decision has been made on your profile, you will receive an email regarding your recent status update."
 
Are they working today? You guys seem to be posting your statuses just now. Did you just receive an email?

Nah, I got this one yesterday though. I figured i'd put it on here since everyone is talking about their status updates.

I would suggest just trying to login to their secondary website (which you find just by googling VCU secondary application) since some people discovered (myself included) that they failed to send an email to us to let us know we had been offered a secondary. All you need to login is your AMCAS ID and birthday.

Thanks so much- I actually have done this and the only thing I see is the original status that says they received my application and I should wait for a secondary but not everyone will receive one...etc. So I don't know. :/

That's good news because on last year's thread a bunch of people got interviews after receiving this status.
 
So after looking at last year's thread, it looks like the status I received pretty much means I'm rejected. Looks like 3 MD rejections now. Great... maybe I should have done an MPH to "prove" that I can still read and write even though I've been out of school for only a couple of years. As if a typical graduate degree program is harder than pre-med undergrad.

When was your file complete? And do t worry - any news that isn't a rejection is good news 🙂

Got this status too, though had it last year and was rejected. Another friend just got rejected outright if that changed anything, so they are still interested in our candidacy and we made it through something. Hope that helps.
 
Haven't had internet access for the past 48 hours or so (was camping!), so I just now saw a status update email from VCU sent 7/24, logged in, and saw an II! Really surprised that no one else has posted about receiving one by now?

For reference, I received a status update to "The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we may be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview, you will be notified by e-mail in March" on 7/17. Also, LizzyM~69, OOS.

Congrats! How long have you been complete? I've been complete for a few days only and I only have the complete status.

Eh, I dont even know why I put in an AMCAS application with a 66 LizzyM haha. I guess MD schools dont like people who have been out of school for a few years.
 
Hey everyone,

I got my email confirmation to change my PIN on Thursday and I am trying to type up the secondary at this moment. I was wondering how long it would take for the application to be approved for a secondary?

Many MD schools love non-trads! Being a bit older with some life experience after college gets attention. I've been out of school for 3 years (actually, out of my initial undergraduate work for 7 years) and have gotten one II so far...granted no status update from VCU yet. So I wouldn't worry too much this early!

Hmm, its been 3 years for me as well. If you got a II, maybe there is some hope.
