2015-2016 Yale University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
According to my almost arbitrary train of thought, 70% chances- Decision Tuesday, 30%- Decision Thursday. It will probably be between 10:00-1pm EST. Well soon we will know how accurate/inaccurate this is. The 38-39% Post II acceptance rate does worry me though. Not super high chances of success. 🙁 We will see I guess!
Uh I thought it was only a 25% chance of success....

No that's like Harvard.. at least according to US news data Yale is supposed to be around 38-39% overall assuming their protocol hasn't changed from last year..this does include getting accepted off the wait list.
Yeah the numbers are in our folders as well haha it's ~39% post interview acceptance rate

C'mon guys, he clearly meant "14 percentage points more hopeful"
Thanks for being the doctor that won't constantly be correcting their patients about the semantics of how they describe their perceived symptoms.

Patient: "Yeah my wrist really hurts, what can we do, doc?"

Doctor: "Well that's actually 2 inches medial to where your wrist technically ends, so until you get your shi t together and pass anatomy idk if I can help you"

Patient: 😕

Actually you should be 56% more hopeful! 🙂

(the additional 14% is 56 percent of 25%)

It is 14/25 and so you are 56% more hopeful (156% of your original number)

Edit: Justadream beat me to that conclusion.

haha the moment you had messaged the 14% thing in the morning I wanted to correct it but didn't want to be pedantic since you look stressed enough as it is 😛
It's either T-24 or T-72 right now!

Waiting for one of you guys to point out how two inches medial to where the wrist ends is actually not even close to the wrist at all in anatomical positioning.

Edit: I'm totally just messing around by the way. T-72 (at the most)! Yay!

Haha well here's a real life application of this knowledge:

Let's say a cancer patient's probability of surviving has improved from 20% to 30% after a round of treatment. Saying this patient's chance of survival just improved by 50% is a lot more hope-inducing than saying this patient's survival chance improved by 10 percentage points.

Either tomorrow or Thursday, this

or this

will be me (and many of us). I should be preparing for a journal club tomorrow, but I'm a leetle distracted right now. Anybody else getting nervous, or just me?

Last week of school before spring break and I've actually completed all my assignments for this week...now I have nothing to do but be anxious haha. The first time I wish I had procrastinated on work .

What is making people lean towards tomorrow if the Dean kept saying the 10th during interviews? I also have that date down in my notes.

No one claims that it is any more than speculation. I think people want to believe decisions will come out tomorrow because they want to be done waiting, and then they rationalize that belief afterward.

I think I've finally managed to reconcile myself to my lot. If YSM doens't accept me, issok, I'll be fine at the school I'm accepted at already! With this realization, I think facing the decision will be easier. Now that so many people are saying March 10th...I'm ambivalent about my March 8th gung-ho cry too...oh well either well its coming up soon-ish.

Yep, it's been a long wait and it'd be amazing for this to come out tomorrow. That being said, I completely understand they might not. The good luck is for just in case!

Guys... I have it on good authority that decisions are going to come out on Thursday. I'm no longer in the applicant pool but I wanted to let you all know, since many of you think that it's going to be today. No need to freak out until the time is right!

ill say thursday just so it's worst case scenario but how do you know for sure?

Lame!

Had a panic attack throughout my midterm today, wondering what would be waiting in my inbox when I got out...

I'm going to hunt down every last one of you who made me think it would happen today!
