Only time will tell. I don't see the purpose of making assumptions this early in the game.

For some, it may be a numbers issue. But I think GW is just really specific about the type of students they want to interview/accept based on experiences and etc. Im on hold with a 517

Ahh, if that were only true, I'd have a whole bunch of interview invites now. Sadly for me, medical school admissions appears to be as comprehensive as ever, taking into account MCAT, GPA, and all those other lovely things.

To address the OP, it's tough to say what to make of the hold status at this point in time. Probably not cause for celebration, but it's still so early that it's tough to say what it means. That so many other people are on-hold probably says something.

I agree that a Hold is discouraging but I don't think it's just the MCAT, many people on Hold are above that number . I guess it's some magic formula.. Anyways it will be interesting to see how these Holds will progress .

I really hope and root that this is true! It's so easy to get down with the updates. Being that we are some of the first ones to have turned in our materials, it definitely puts more impatience in the process if it starts taking more than a few week :whistle:. I know that I was certainly one of those that thought the wait wouldn't get to me but this is getting so real. eek.:cigar:
 
Completed 14/7; status has been "your file is now complete" since then.
Lizzy M = 73.7
GPA = 3.97
MCAT = 12/8/14 (34)
Canadian
Hoping for some love from GW 🙂
 
Did you guys get an email when you went "on hold" or received an II, or should I just keep checking the website for status update?

I keep checking the website hoping for something, but it would most likely come in an email if it is an II. I did not receive an email telling me my app was on hold, I just saw the status when I was making my daily rounds of checking my app statuses before writing the next secondary.

I'm rooting for us too! Wish I had money and time off to just go travel for a month so this whole thing can go by faster! Haha

In all honesty, they could've assumed they were a "safety school" and they wouldn't be taken seriously. Some people are too smart for the rest of us.

My status just changed to On Hold. 🙁 Were there people in last years that got an II from On Hold a few weeks later?

Yes, most of the interviews I saw when I looked through last year's thread were people who were on hold first. I don't understand why everyone is freaking out about the On Hold status right now and being so pessimistic, it's not even August!!
 
Have they rejected at all or are they just putting everyone on hold or direct to II???

Can anybody clarify what this statement means? I submitted on 7/9 and I still see this.

It seems like they're stratifying by URMs and nontrads at the moment.
 
Got my secondary the day after I submitted my primary.

unfortunately I fear that where ever I will be this year, even if I have enough to save (ha), I won't have the luxury to go traveling. This process is already quite expensive as is, every penny will literally be my saving grace.
 
Nice to hear all these II piling in! It seems that they are stratifying their interview process based on MCAT Scores and upward grade trends; all we can do is speculate I guess. Hang tight guys!!!

Great to see low GPA high MCAT applicants getting some love in this thread. Turned in my secondary last weekend, here's hoping I can catch some of that love too...

512 MCAT

1.5 years of undergraduate research and currently doing research at a pretty competitive institution. I'm first author on a paper that is currently undergoing revisions. I have a large amount of teaching and shadowing experience. I was also a scribe for a year.

Its just because some people have gotten II's immediately after going under review these past few days, whereas others have been put on hold for re-review 🙁
 
What I'm wondering is why some people have been under review for multiple days or around a week before hearing back (II or hold) whereas for others its super quick. My status went from complete yesterday evening to on hold for re-review this afternoon. I was complete sometime mid last week. Any thoughts?

On hold as well. LizzyM of 81 and have experience with the school on some service trips, thought that connection would help. Hopefully the 'on hold' is just temporary for all of us!

Wondering the same thing... I was complete on last Friday and went to re-review by Tuesday? Seems like a VERY quick turnaround...
