This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I called and checked on my status and was told i am under active review. Any idea what that means?

Has anyone gotten a letter from the last cycle yet? It's been a week and a half now..

I doubt that they actually met...
I'm sure that they did, when we interviewed they said they'd be sending out the letters late the week after they meet, which means they were probably sent out late last week, just gotta wait for the mail.

Been complete since late August to early September and still haven't heard back... is this a silent rejection?

This does not mean rejection. A friend of mine talked to Eubanks and said that most students are admitted in the spring (around February actually). So just be patient. If your stats are good your time will come!

The next meeting is on 18th Nov. So we can expect to hear something from the school soon after that.

I suppose that's when they will discuss the next round of IIs as well. The ad com meetings happen on third Friday of the month.

So what does NFA really entail? I know that they say we might hear back between January and June but does anyone know anything more specific?

Last year, I was NFAd in the fall and was accepted late February. A lot of people who are accepted get NFAd. It's just a waiting game until they have their advocacy meeting sometime next Feb/March.

I actually went back to last year's thread and your story gave me hope! Is there any chance of being accepted before the big February meeting? I remember them saying that they go over a few NFA candidates at each monthly meeting.

I'm unsure. If you are already NFAd, the safest bet is that your application will be re-reviewed at the advocacy meeting. In the mean time, update them. Kick ass this semester and send them your awesome grades. Start volunteering somewhere else or demand somebody give you an award.

This waiting game sucks. I legit lost hair last year waiting for letters in the mail. There were lots of tears and "why don't they like me?" statements into the void. I can promise it is totally worth when on the first day of orientation, you will hear our wonderful class president say "Welcome future doctors!" Until then, you wait. It's worth it though. I promise.

If anyone has anymore questions, feel free to post here or PM me. We have exams this week (so I should probably get back to studying) but I am always willing to help.

Does anyone know the odds of getting accepted when you interview after Christmas? I really thought I would've been invited to interview by now

From my meetings with Dr. Eubanks, he has always maintained that the majority of the class is interviewed/accepted in the spring.

I'm going to send New Orleans an update email. Should I just attach a word document and email the admissions office?

Hey ya'll! Hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving and not stressing too much!
I'm a current student here and wouldn't mind answering any questions you have (well to the best of my knowledge). Feel free to message me. We're currently studying for our last couple of tests for the semester so I apologize in advance if I don't get back to you in a timely fashion.
Good luck to everyone, and remember, regardless of the outcome, whenever one door closes another will open!!

Accepted! Interviewed on 11/9. The committee was supposed to meet on 11/18. Just received the acceptance in the mail this morning! I live in Metairie.

For update letters, is it recommended to send them via mail to admissions? thanks!

II today! My first MD II. Does anybody know roughly what percentage of interviews get an acceptance?

According to "StartClass" at least (these numbers are specific seem quite possibly legit.)
http://medical-schools.startclass.com/l/80/Louisiana-State-University-School-of-Medicine-New-Orleans

in some recent year:...

of
705 in-state applicants,

381 , over half, were interviewed

179 of whom matriculated. So, maybe roughly half or more of interviews get an acceptance.

OOS numbers:

2244
80
15

And @lifeonmars congrats and good luck!!!!

Anyone know when they will send out another wave of letters?

I honestly am worried...I haven'r received an interview yet I am instate go to Tulane have a GPA of 3.83, MCAT of 506 I thought which was all within the range of getting something. I have gotten interviews to other schools even LSU shreve so I don't know....maybe they forgot about me.

Is it bad that I haven't heard back yet?

someone help shed some light on this

I'm in a similar position and have heard back from Tulane but haven't heard anything from LSU. I thought I read on here that LSU NO has only sent out about half of their II so that is what is making me keep a little bit of hope.

Since I'm a louisiana applicant I received my secondary a while back and was fully completed on around August 31st, but are you out of state?
