For what it's worth, I was told on my interview day that they don't necessarily review files in chronological order by interview date. So there is a chance they haven't gotten to your files yet!

Just got the pre-II rejection about 5 minutes ago 🙁 Goodluck to everyone! This was one of my top choices and MSU is an amazing school!

Do you happen to know how much movement occurs generally from the waitlist? Looking at previous years threads didn't look that great..

First rejection of the application cycle! Lizzy M 68-69, IS, complete 7-25

So judging by the "self-assessment guide" that was mentioned in the rejection email, we can't call them directly and ask why we were rejected...?

Received a pre-II rejection email this morning as well. Extremely disappointed, especially given that I am a Grand Rapids local, did my undergraduate at MSU, and feel like their program mission is a near perfect match for what I offer and hope to work towards. I was really hoping for an interview to be able to discuss my slightly non-conventional background in depth, but they must feel the match isn't there. Such is life.

Good luck to everyone else still in the running! Grand Rapids and East Lansing both have their perks (Grand Rapids specifically is an amazing city), and I would strongly advocate for either location based on what I know!

IIRC, Dr. Maurer said around 40ish people get an acceptance. I might have misunderstood what he was saying, but someone from our interview day asked him.

So you don't have to dig for it, I quoted a table from last years 2015-16 thread in hopes that it helps. I honestly don't know much about movement myself, sorry. To add, there were also others who later noted that they were accepted off the alt-list and they knew way more people than 2 that were, so this table may be inaccurate. I wish they gave us more info during the II.

I believe it's unranked. I found this on last year's thread. I would expect there to be a little more movement this year due to the new curriculum. I know some people are skeptical about it and others really like it so who knows.

Had planned to withdraw my app from here and a few other schools today but they beat me to it lol.. rejected pre-II, OOS, low-ish LizzyM
 
Looks like they just sent out a giant wave of pre-II rejections 🙁
