I'm sorry to hear about these rejections. When were you guys forwarded for review if you don't mind me asking?

did anyone who got put on the alternate list have their portal update? I got an email this morning but my portal never updated

Same here. Theres jothing really to update though. We aren't rejected or accepted, so it'll probably stay the same.

Same thing also happened for me. I put down I was from a rural area but did not apply for a special program. Looking at last year's thread it looks like they have a special interview date for people with rural backgrounds/interest.
Are you interviewing on the 11/18 in GR?
 
Hey guys! So I interviews last year at CMU in February. I was not a very competitive applicant, yet I still got waitlisted. I however did not get offered an acceptance. I do know that I was one of the last 5 people on it in July before they rejected me.

However, currently I am at in the BMS program at WSU, and am doing very well in it. I highly recommend it to all those who do not get in this cycle. It has made me a much better applicant, and I currently have two II at school that I did not last year (CMU was my only II last cycle).

I completed my app a little over a month ago, and have not heard anything back yet. Since I was WL last year, and am a much better applicant this cycle, I do expect to get one eventually. How long after completion did it take for all of you to get IIs?
 
Whoops! Wrong thread! Sorry guys! If it helps anyone I got completed on 9/15 for CHM and received an II last Thursday. It is scheduled for 12/2

No. You get accepted to CHM first. Then your file moves to those committees if you decide to apply to a subprogram.
 
Question: Is there anyone who has already gone from a hold status to an II? I assume a hold means we won't hear anything until the new year, but a gal can dream 🙄

I wonder if the format is the same for each decision date. Phone call Monday - Tuesday night for acceptances & portal updates/decision updates for others on Wednesday. We'll see I guess!

I don't think they do Monday calls anymore. They only did last time because they had already made decisions already for the pre-Oct 14 interviews. They do call tonight though, but I don't know if they do any calls tomorrow. Maybe there are some they won't get to? You're right about portal updates and emails. Those should all happen tomorrow.

I'm so scared if I don't get a call tonight because my mind will turn to pudding trying to wait to see if I got denied/xfer or they haven't seen my app yet.

I was so worried about not getting a call last night, so that makes me feel a bit better. right there with ya too, definitely scared about not getting a call tonight as that seems to mean placement on alt list/rejection coming in the next day.

When did you interview? I interviewed on 10/14 & was told I'd likely hear back this week. Oy.

I interviewed then too. Last year a lot of my friends got their call the Tuesday after their Friday interviews so I was really hoping I'd get it then, but obv that didn't happen. This week seems the most likely though even though there's still a chance it won't happen.

Nothing but a missed call from a 313 area code. Probably unrelated but its all I've got to report :help: tried calling back and it kept saying "user busy."
 
Losing hope the closer it approaches 10...

e: after looking at past threads it seems they only called before their listed decision day for the first week of decisions. After that, acceptance calls seemed to be made on the specific decision date listed on their website.

so, guess I'll see you all for our weekly anxiety party tomorrow? :nailbiting:

Apparently they randomly review applicants from the last three interviews? If so, it might not be the end lol.

Does anyone know if everyone just go on their alt list then? Unless folks rejected post interview just don't post it kinda seems that way.

e: Nvm, kinda answered my own question. They interview around ~500 people, accept ~190, alt list last few years was at ~145 - 190 w/ ~40 being accepted off of it.

Also alternative list... interview 10/14. So bummed. Where did you find the numbers about the alternative list stats?

In old MSU threads. If you check my profile I posted an old table they used to make available earlier on this thread . I'm on my phone browser and having trouble linking it. Also, during the interview they told us about 40 ppl get off their WL, so ignore the part of the table that says 2, it's wrong.

E: but again, I've found so many diff anecdotes about their waitlist on SDN. I'm not actually sure if it's ranked or how they review it at all.

Was told it's not ranked at my interview day. Also was told that some years no one gets off and some years like 50 people get off. So I guess we'll have to wait and see how this year goes! Hopefully this new curriculum scares a few people into choosing other schools

Thanks for the info everyone 🙂 I wish I knew what made me get placed on the alternate list as opposed to the other two

Dumb question maybe but what do you mean about the other two? Rejection? Or the ABLE program? I wonder if folks get recommended to ABLE off the alt list.
 
Alternate list, 10/14 interview.

Does anybody know if alternate applicants are reviewed throughout the cycle, or only at the end?
