2016-2017 Quinnipiac University (Netter) Application Thread

Bradley is closer and only like half an hour away from the campus. As for easiest transportation, I'm not sure what is the best. What you can do is call up admissions and ask them, they're incredibly friendly. But many have used Uber.
So there is a Uber presence around North Haven? That's a relief to hear! I'm also flying over from the west coast

Pro tip: for the optional essays, do 1. Advice to your younger self and 2. Something you are most proud of. Why? Because the dean of admissions said they are his favorite to read at our interview today. He's also scary good at remembering pieces of your app.

Nice, I did those haha. Must be good advice!

Now I'm worried for my Friday interview 😳 . My advice to my younger self was to quit the MMA club I was in during early college. I hope he doesn't remember that..

That was probably a factor in receiving the interview! Good way to stand out

If I am not 100 % sure about going into primary care should I consider applying to this school?

They emphasized multiple times in the interview that yes, even if you are not interested in primary care you can still receive a great education at Quinnipiac. I believe they told us that ~30% of their students are interested in primary care. Of the 3 M2's at lunch, none of them were interested in primary care.

I already turned in my secondary and wrote about having most interest in (at least for right now) going into a certain specialty due to my shadowing experiences.

Does this school send out a complete email after the "secondary has been received" email?

I didn't get an email after that one, but my portal has a green check next to app complete and says "you're application is ready!"

Does anybody know how long it typically takes to drive to New Haven from NYC on a weekday morning?

I-95 is notoriously one of the worst highways in America (from personal experience). You will be going in the better direction as most people are heading into the city, but it will still take you at least 2 hours... I would allot myself much more than that though... I would not go any lower than 2.5 hours, but to me I would still feel like I could be cutting it too close.

If you are going to drive, I would suggest you take CT-15... the Merritt Parkway.... gps will often tell you to take 1-95 but it is always backed up. Merritt Pkwy is a bit longer in mileage, but usually faster because there is less traffic... so may take a few more minutes but you are more likely to avoid accidents and keep moving the whole way.

Depends on what borough you're going to, and on friggin' I-95. There's a lot of construction going on now, so if I were you, I'd plan on taking a little over 2 hours for the drive.

Personally, I'd recommend the Metro North Railroad. About 2.5 hours from Grand Central to New Haven, and you can sit back and relax. Probably a 15-20 minute Uber ride from New Haven to Quinnipiac.

Feel free to PM me if you want additional info.

Congrats to all with IIs! I sent in my secondary ~4 weeks after I received it, would that hurt me? I was complete on 8/4

Detail something about yourself (quality or non-academic accomplishment) that makes you extremely proud.

do you guys think its okay to write about preparing a first-author for publication? or is that considered an academic accomplishment?

It's too academia-related to not be academic IMHO.

Does Quinnipiac send out rejections pre-II or do they leave you hanging?

what about a receiving a community service award from my university?

I wrote about a personal characteristic that I developed throughout specific life experiences that would help me to be a better student and provider.

Bump, I'd like to know as well. I received a secondary on 8/3 and submitted 9/4

for classes we took on the quarter system, does anyone know if we should convert it to semester units? i.e. 4 quarter units=2.7 semester units

I'm interviewing here this Friday! Does anyone know if its open file or closed file?

I am pretty sure its open file! Apparently the interviewers have more of a conversation with you about your application rather than drilling you with other outside questions!

when entering pre-req courses on secondaries, if we took classes on both a semester and quarter system, should we convert the quarter system units to semester?

Has anyone interviewed here yet or last year? What is it like? Any preparation advice?

It's a really great day. The staff was incredibly friendly, they set the tone from the beginning that they want this to be a stress-free day (as much as possible!) Both of my interviewers were great and got me incredibly excited about the school. I know it's cliche advice, but the best thing I can tell you is just to be yourself. I'd suggest getting there a bit before your scheduled interview time (a little bit, not several hours) so that you have time to make sure you know where you're going and such.

Good luck! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
