Got the axe today. Complete email sent 6/28 by adviser and 7/14 by the school. (no prior military experience).
Good luck everyone!!! Apparently they only received 3000 apps this year - so the odds may be in your favor 🙂

Aw sorry to hear, good luck with school wherever you decide to go! 🙂

Hey, I turned in my secnav within 2-4 weeks of interview, but I never heard anything back. How do you know if its on your file? I don't want to show up with them saying "sorry, but you're not on file..." Same thing for the parking and student host forms. If I dont get approved for parking, is it fine for someone else to drive me to the gates and have me walk in from there?

Hi!

The person vouching for you must accompany you "at all times". This means your ride can't simply drop you off at the gate if you don't have a valid ID.

So my Uber driver also has to follow me around all day?

Your uber driver will be turned around.

If you are approved for base access, you can get out and walk in. If you are not approved, you can try to arrange for someone to escort you in (probably a student). You can meet students at the dinner the night before.

For those who have interviewed and used the host program, when you emailed them stating your interest in utilizing this service did you get a reply/ if so how long did it take for them to respond?

I understand that the medical qualification is different from the admissions deal. But I now have a question: I received an email today from the medical section, requesting complete medical records from an event that occurred about 7 years ago. Since I interviewed in mid-September, I wonder if this is positive news. In other words, do they do medical follow-ups on every applicant, or just those who are still being considered? Anyone out there have any insight?

When are people planning to arrive in D.C. before the interview? I am looking at flights arriving at 11am the day before. Enough time or should I give a whole extra day in case of weather?

II!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turn up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was it from the DODMERB people or USUHS? Was it a remedial? If it was then it's only the medical people looking in to your records to make sure there isn't anything that would disqualify you. It's separate from USUHS, so wouldn't have any indication for whether or not they were intending to accept/reject/waitlist you. If it was from USUHS itself, then I have no idea...

Thanks for the reply. The message came from the DODMERB folks, so I guess it doesn't indicate anything good or bad regarding my chances. However, it does seem like a waste of time and money to check out every medical concern for all 3,000 or so applicants. But that's bureaucracy, I guess.

Its a lot cheaper to screen everyone than pay for a medical issue for ~15 years. (4 years usuhs+4 year Residency +7 years )

For us early interviewees, does anyone remember if they said October 15th or 17th was when they would start calling people? I forgot, but I'm assuming the 17th since the 15th is a Saturday.

I interviewed 9/8, and Dr. Saguil said he would probably be making calls on Saturday anyways...that could have changed though.

I drove since it was about 5 hours and I had family in the area...I ended up getting in around 3 or 4pm if I recall. The only thing the night before is the dinner, which I think was around 7pm or so. I highly recommend going to that, I found it a great opportunity to get to know other interviewees and current students.

So, super stupid question. My Interview is tomorrow, but I just noticed that none of my emails(initial or confirmation) have a time for arrival on them. The only time it has is that all applicants will be done by 4:00 PM. Should I just call early tomorrow morning?

Can confirm that check in time was 7:30 for my September interview. Check the interview invite letter at the link in your original interview invite email (where all your forms were) to be sure!

It was under the interviewee letter on the admissions page, Thanks all!

Is anyone else a Sept 29th interview person, and still hopeful that they will hear back this next week... possibly even tomorrow? And does anyone have any idea of the rate of acceptance for those who interview in September and even October? Is it much higher than the 59 percent or whatever?

Think there's going to be calls tomorrow? Another school wrote me saying the AAMC sent out guidance a couple weeks ago saying this year's first acceptance date is now 17OCT.
I heard that, but when I called aamc today they said that whether they want to admit on Saturday or Monday is completely at the school's discretion. But who knows maybe person I spoke to was not aware of that incident.

Seems like we all have conflicting information! When did you interview? Dr. Saguil told us on Sept 8th that he would probably come in Saturday and make calls...who knows!

Hey I submitted
Wow! Far and away the most comprehensive/enjoyable interview day I've attended. Got the sense that everyone here is very happy and satisfied with their choice to attend. It felt like the interviews were really just there to see if you truly want the USUHS/ Mil med life, rather than another step in the weed out process. Also my favorite group of interviewees i have met.

Word to the wise: submit your base access form early! I waited on mine, has to resubmit due to clerical error, and although I was approved it caused some complications.
I submitted my base access fork about two weeks ago and haven't heard anything back. When should I be notified that the form was received?

I'm available nearly that entire time, or at least I will make myself available. I'm probably going to wait until after lunch so I don't seem too impatient...but we will see how that works!

I didn't realize they call everyone...I thought they only called for acceptances.

I feel like this is some sort of mind game but I don't know how to win...

Look guys it's like less than 12 hours away so if you can just keep your pre-med neuroticism under control for just that span of time all of your questions will be answered lol

Hey I submitted

They notified me of receipt the day before the last day it was possible to turn it in (I think it's like 14 days before your interview date or something, it should say on the website)

I just assumed they sent the email to everyone, but unless we take a poll I guess there's no way of knowing if it's just accepted people or everyone who has interviewed thus far until tomorrow.

Negative on e-mail notification for late a September interviewee.

In every instance where I required base access, they usually sent a note approving access within 3-5 business days of the date requested in the access form. The personnel in their security shop are on top of it, so no stress/no worriers and good luck with your interview.

Rejected for the 2nd year in a row, good luck y'all

you'll be ok ! you have 6 total II. you're gonna be accepted somewhere. sorry to hear about this rejection, but keep your head up

Thanks but I haven't heard one way or the other yet! I know it'll be okay, just that Usuhs public health is by far and away my top choice. Still playing the waiting game!
I had a timer set in my phone for yoga and when it went off I thought it was a phone call and my heart skipped a beat. I thought yoga helped you relax 😕
