And? Every school's mission statement sounds pretty much the same, but in reality every school has a different mission which can be inferred from the types of students it accepts or the different areas of healthcare that the school focuses its resources on. EVMS is obviously going to take a different type of student than JHU, but both of their mission statements are going to look pretty similar. That's why I came to UCI's thread to ask what kind of mission the school has beyond the stated "advancing individual and population health."

It's not like I was asking how many students apply per year lol. "What is the school's mission" is a totally reasonable thing to ask in a school-specific thread and not something easily found on google, which is why your sarcastic response made absolutely no sense.

Geez what's your problem? Did you think I was going to read this essay you've written? All I was suggesting is that you could read the mission statement and deduce what they're looking for from that. Since you ASKED for the mission. You need to calm down buddy. Go for a jog. Lol

Lol I am calm. I asked a question and you gave me a sarcastic answer that implied that I was being lazy and should figure out the answer for myself, so I explained why I decided to ask on here instead. Next time just don't say anything if you don't know the school's mission. You literally started all of this haha

Lol you've got it all wrong. I'm going to chalk this up to app year stress, bud. We all have better things to do then get into fights and try and convince anonymous people on these threads that we're right. Relax, it will all be all right 🙂
 
Anyone know whats going on with Irvine? It seems like they have sent out like barely any II. Meanwhile according to last year's thread they started sending out a bunch of II like end of July

Agreed I don't want to argue, but for future reference, the comment "Google is your friend" doesn't need to be made, especially on a forum for helping premeds with questions.

My friend who works at UCI med said that the adcom started meetings for II decisions only a few weeks ago. So here's hoping they start sending out batches soon!!
 
are they always notoriously slow for sending out secondaries??

i got the primary app receipt on 8/12 but no word since then and it's been a month already :/

Did anyone else get a student ID number at the top of their application portal? Mine just randomly appeared today :laugh:

I dunno, it's probably some technicality. I submitted secondary in July and got my committee letter in and app complete on 9/12

hey, so i saw this question and other peoples' replies to it (lmao). i interviewed there at the end of august and got a pretty good idea of what the students who go there are like.

the dean & med school students there were really big on making the interview very low-stress. i got a very "chill" california vibe from it, hard to explain but you may know what i'm talking about. all the med school students there were very happy, transparent, and low-key. most of the other interviewees were also like this. i felt like i got along with most of them, and there was very little sizing each other up and uncomfortable silences. from talking to my student host, hearing from the dean, going through my interviews, and seeing what the other interviewees were like, i get the impression that they're looking for a class that will create a very collaborative, nurturing environment and resonate well with the types of students who go there.

not sure if that's helpful at all (sorry if it isn't,) but i really does seem like there's a type of laid back personality about the school

i think the school started reviewing apps pretty late so I guess wait a few more weeks before freaking out. but yeah im in the same situation as you for a lot of UCs
 
Just got a pre-II rejection. Complete 7/26. IS. LizzyM 65. Kind of saw it coming. I'm glad I found out now rather than just wondering.

Same... Suspense is so killer. Just let me know instead of keeping me hopeful!! I'd love to be back at my alma mater though :/
 
Pre-II rejection. LizzyM ~74, complete early-mid september. Sort of a surprise, sort of not. Maybe I didn't fit their mission? I'm a very research/teaching heavy applicant with a nature pub, and I've had friends with similar stats rejected too.

this process is so random, ive been verified for a month but havent even gotten a secondary from them

I honestly have no idea what their mission is lol. It's the based patient care/teach/research thing. Oh well, looking forward to my rejection. California schools, why you hate me so?

Weird! So early too 😵 They seemed to be very research and teaching focused..

I'm sure you'll get plenty of acceptances with those stats though😎
 
Pre-II rejection. Submitted my secondary on Mid-sept and got my rejection email a few days ago.
FWIW: LizzyM 77.6, I had a well-rounded application with more focus on research and paid-work, less focus on volunteer stuff

Ah sorry to hear that 🙁 I haven't even gotten a secondary from them yet and my primary has been in since mid-July....so I am kind of expecting one soon too. Anyone else still in the same boat?

Damn. I feel like there's been so few II's going out and a bunch of fast rejections. I'm sure you'll do great with those stats though!
 
Pre-II rejection here. LizzyM around 74. Heard back just a few days after I was complete.
 
i interviewed here just yesterday! i was pretty impressed by the school, and by happy all the students seemed. very excited to hear back about my admissions status 🙂

Does anyone have any idea how far along UCI is in their applications process? I saw some people getting IIs a few weeks ago, but this thread has been relatively quiet outside of that.

when i went to interview they said they had only explicitly accepted one person so far. don't know if that helps or not
 
Getting nervous. Submitted in July and this is by far my top choice but haven't heard anything. I got the secondary fairly early but then silence since then so I don't know.

Interview Invite: 10/3

Does anyone know was the interview format is?
