2016-2017 University of California - San Francisco Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Submitted secondary and complete 7/20. Silence so far. No news is good news at this point, I guess?

I don't know! Maybe it's because they applied for PRIME as well! I'm keeping my hopes up until they tell me otherwise! I submitted 8/24 so I'm in the exact same boat as you all!
I applied late August too! +1 for keeping the hope alive, right up until the moment I get my rejection email!

Y'all are right; I'd hug you if I could 🙂 Nvm fatalism, it's not over 'til the end.

I also applied PRIME. But you guys are right, fingers crossed.

It's my top choice for many reasons, and my family and I have already discussed we would go here over any other, so this one is going to hurt.

any idea when the next wave of II/rejections is coming, I was complete early sept.

this is also one of my top choices and its going to hurt, especially after getting the stanford one last week 🙁

I wouldn't be surprised I its about a week or less. The waves are pretty close together.

You can also look at last year's thread to get some indication of when you should be hearing back. It seems UCSF has a very methodical** way of going through applications, so it would not be too far off to assume that their pace this year is similar to that of last year.

Good luck! I am in the same boat =)

Secondary submitted 8/23
Just waiting for that next wave of rejections 🙁
At least according to the others, the rejection is really kind.

Received post-secondary rejection yesterday. To be honest, I was more surprised that I lasted this long than I was at receiving the rejection.

Edit: just realized the email came last night at 8:45pm but my mobile email sorts in importance and thought it wasn't important enough for an alert -_- only just saw it on desktop.

Could have used some good news last night outlook...

Outlook did the same thing with my II here! I only found it groggily waking up from a nap and was so confused lol. Congratulations!

7/14, and I got the II in late September

Did you interview JMP? I can't figure out how to designate on AMCAS. For some reason the only CA school showing up is Nothstate, but I didn't even apply UCI or UCR so idk if something is wrong with my drop down menu.

I only applied straight MD so I have no idea, sorry!

Does anyone know if UCSF is receptive to updates / LOIs?

I probably wouldn't send an update if it wasn't part of an LOI... can anyone else chime in on the LOI thing? I am considering emailing admissions to ask
Last years thread said they don't accept LOI but I could be wrong

Received a secondary out of nowhere this week! AMCAS verified late June, in state applicant. Was expecting a pre-secondary rejection since I didn't hear for so long!

Hopefully they'll be getting to more of the September secondaries soon. Congrats to everyone who's gotten good news so far!

I believe you designate JMP on the secondary--it is not through AMCAS.

You designate on AMCAS after an II. But the adcom does something first before you are able to see it on the AMCAS school list. I emailed her about it and after I confirmed the interview it showed up and I was able to add it (plus pay additional AMCAS fee,etc)... guess it's a super secret squirrel process.

Anyone know UCSF's stance on post-interview thank you letters?

I didnt get my secondary after being patient since late August. Am I getting no patients?

Received the secondary earlier tonight after submitting late af in October! I have no business applying here in the first place, but we'll see how it goes.

Yes, they say they're unnecessary. They won't give them to interviewers until after a decision is made. They specified that on the blue paper in our packet concerning post interview tips. I interviewed yesterday. Hope yours went well too!

can anyone speak to the accepted vs matriculated numbers? How many more people are accepted than those that are matriculated? Or like how many people who are interviewed get accepted?

Where does it say that they will interview more?

look within the past 4 pages of this thread

EDIT: or perhaps it was last year's thread (i think this was it).
