Does anyone know when we will hear back? I interviewed really early and they said either December or January. Anyone have anything more specific?
Mid December for the early interviewees

Rejected pre-II. Complete 9/5. I agree that the words in a really truly kind rejection letter drowned out the sound of my breaking heart. :sorry:

Rejected today, guess it wasn't meant to be. Complete end of July, IS, LizzyM 74

Did anyone get the vibe from Dean Wofsy that if you interviewed early that they were more likely to accept you?

Just an MS3 here chiming in. I have to say clerkships at UCSF are amazing. Please apply here if you like residents who are talented and have an extreme commitment to teaching! Also, think about the atmosphere and culture of an institution beyond the first 2 years. UCSF is very non-hierarchical, friendly, and caring place on the wards. The same cannot be said for every institution, unfortunately.

IS This true for all the rotation sites?

I'm curious about this too, although they send out their first wave of acceptances so late in the cycle it feels that it doesn't matter. Other schools interview earlier and accept in October, but UCSF has been interviewing for months and has yet to send out acceptances. Maybe I'm trying to make myself feel better though...

I interviewed in late October and he said that they actively try to avoid over accepting early interviews / keep an even spread across their dates

He actually said something different in mine than that lol. He said they wait till December to accept because if they did rolling they'd have to keep spots open for people interviewing later. In this way, they can sort of view all the people that have nterviewed till December in the same pile and choose non selectively between them, meaning that most of those who interview early can get in, if we deserve it. So it was kind of in between both of the viewpoints.

Basically he implied a lot of early interviewers were going to get in, but as a product of them liking us, not like we get preferential treatment because we were first. Which makes sense.

Lol. Med school admissions. Always a pleasure.

It's weird I got a secondary request in mid November. I submitted the AMCAS at the beginning of August. If they weren't interested in me I assume they would've sent a secondary. I'm just surprised how late it was. I'm a non-traditional applicant and added a late LOR so maybe that's why. I already was rejected pre-secondary from UC Davis and Riverside.

How do you know?

I keep track of this post. If you scroll through, you'll see people getting rejections, unfortunately, in order of complete date. Currently it seems like they are reviewing late August, early September applications.

Just FYI, I was complete 8/31 and received an II a month ago. The rejections seem to come after II for those in similar time frame. i.e. A group of mid August got invites, then a group of mid August got rejected then I and some other from late August/ early September got invites, then ~two weeks later rejections from that period. I'd suspect they're on late September and some early/mid September they are still reviewing.

Oh, I see. So rejections tend to come ~2-3 weeks after the apps have actually been reviewed. Thank you for this info!

I'm not saying it's an exact timeframe but that's what I noticed. I had been tracking it myself and getting ready for being rejected in the next wave and I got the II as I was anticipating a rejection in the next week or two because I saw someone from 9/1 complete date get an II. I ended up receiving one the day after that person.

I'm just stating the trend I've noticed as well. I guess that's all we can do since the whole process is ambiguous. Anyhow, congrats on the interview! I hope you do great!

It seems like Dr. Wofsy is the main app reader, so he can only go so fast.

That's possible, although I'm sure he has help too. Still though, we are now in December, and they control how many secondaries are released in a given time period, so they have control over the amount of people that are actively under review more so than other schools. So it probably isn't an insurmountable stack of files at any given time.

I feel you! I have an interview on Tuesday (not at UCSF) and I'm very nervous as well. All we can do is believe in ourselves, practice, give it our best shot and hope for the best. We got this!

I received a secondary from here just a week ago. I submitted it ASAP, but it seems that they are interviewing for January now. Does this mean that I have no chance?

He said something similar for us too. But I don't know what is considered early. Would october be early? I don't want to get too hopeful haha

just got a secondary invitation. my primary was complete 9/30 (i was a pretty late applicant, I know)

Has anyone else had their portal down all day?? I'm freaking out that it means something

I like your Theodore Roosevelt Quote! Very practical and inspiring!

Applying for your residencies ?? Good luck!

Long shot but anyone familiar with the JMP alternate list? How many people are on it and how many might get off? Got the news earlier this week

Is this post or pre interview?

For early interviewees, anyone expecting decisions to be released around the 18th? The first wave of decisions have always been on that date, but dean wofsy told my group to expect in decisions in January.

He said mid December most probably, but it could be January.

Is anybody else having trouble logging onto the portal? I have not been able to get on (checked firewall, proxies, used multiple computers and browsers, etc). I'm going to contact admissions shortly but wanted to see if anybody else has had this problem??

And the application portal is back up and running.

Rejected last week, LM 72. Complete early August

II today! What a dream. LizzyM 74, IS, complete end of August.
