2016-2017 University of Rochester Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know out of how many IIs Rochester actually accepts?

There's actually a guy on r/premed listing acceptance percentages (his friend paid for the US News and World Report thing). Definitely give it a look if you're curious.

@dwood_med Congrats! What dates were you offered?
Thank you! I was given a calendar to choose from several dates, mainly Mondays and Fridays starting in November. I assume this means all interview spots for September and October have already been filled. So glad they are offering days around the weekend as I won't have to take off much work.

I'm a bit confused. Do we have to complete the II secondary questions by the week before your interview, or around that week?

The secondary for Rochester is made up of like 10 T/F questions. Do it immediately!

He's talking about the questions that come with the II not the secondary.

I understand that we need to complete them no later than one week before our scheduled interview date. I am not interviewing until November and will just do them well in advance. Assuming it is just best to do them as soon as possible, they aren't too long or tricky.

Hi guys, I've basically just been lurking on SDN but I was kinda confused about the questions Rochester gives after an II...On the activities list, do we literally just put the titles of our activities? Or is the 25 word limit implying we write a short description...?

Does anyone know what MCAT score do they screen for II's? and LizzyM??
I doubt they have an exact score that they automatically screen for II's (other than being above a 500). Obviously, the higher the better, but I'm sure they take your whole app into account. I will say that last year, their median for accepted students was a 34/515 with 10-90th percentiles at 29/506 - 37/520.

TBH I have no idea. My interview is next week and I'm nervously eyeing this and I have no idea how to word it...

meep yeah My interview is soon too.... T_T someone please assist....

Hey, I had my interview here last week, and it was very relaxed. Everyone was fantastic and really tried to ease our nerves. In terms of the activities, I just put down the title, dates and location.

the brief summary of showing a commitment to others and how you stand out was about half a page each.

Good luck, it was a great interview day!

How long does it takes them to mark you complete?? I have submitted my secondary 12 days already and they still haven't gotten my letters which are available so I havent been marked complete. DO you think I should call or sit tight?

Took me one day. IMO I would call.

I called admissions and they are saying they are having problems downloading the Letters of recommendations and this will be corrected sometime next week. Posting this to help anyone who was wondering

Are they receptive of in the area-ish updates?

II this morning! OOS, LizzyM ~72, complete mid July. Dates available beginning in December

You got an interview invite Sunday morning?? I thought they only go out on the weekdays. Well I guess I just have to neurotically check my-email every 10 minutes 7 days a week instead of 5.

Congratulations btw!

does anyone know if Rochester waits till the end of the cycle to reject? I've been complete since 8/9.. LizzyM 74-75 way OOS.. complete silence..

I did. The e-mail from them said they would send one, but I guess it got lost somewhere along the way :lame:

Did you check your snail mail?

But the waiting game is the least fun game 🙁
ahahaha yes it really is! But only if you stress about it!

Find a hobby or something to keep your mind off of it, constantly worrying about it won't make ur invite email come any faster or slower! You've done the hard part writing the MCAT, writing ur PS, secondaries and etc... I personally go to the gym and lift weights to keep my mind off 🙂

this is so true..constantly being on SDN and seeing people get interviews doesn't help either, haha. The gym is two hours of my day when I don't think about this process and it's amazing!
