First time on SDN but figured I'd post in the thread of the only school I had an II for haha.

For the pre-interview questions, is anyone else having trouble with the "Please describe what sets you apart from other applicants" essay? I feel like it's very broad and I'm not sure from which angle to answer it (ie describe personal attributes, experiences, background).

Sounds like a diversity prompt. You could write something similar to what you wrote for other secondaries.

Hey, I had my interview here last week, and it was very relaxed. Everyone was fantastic and really tried to ease our nerves. In terms of the activities, I just put down the title, dates and location.

the brief summary of showing a commitment to others and how you stand out was about half a page each.

Could you give more details on what the itinerary was please? Mine is this week and I'm not sure what will take 8 hours. (8 am-4 pm)

Why do I have to take a survey to help a school which has ignored my app for a quarter of a year now? God, I was driving and checked my phone and thought I got an interview

*!@#$%&...... why would you ask a group of applicants, in which the majority will not be interviewed let alone be accepted. Should've been given to current students instead of potentially causing heart attacks :rage:. Gonna go on a survey strike! Unless you show interest in me, I'm not going to show interest in you!

I saw "Univ Rochester Medical School" in the title of an email this afternoon, and my heart skipped a beat... it was just a Combined Degree Interest Survey.

They're such teases! :laugh:

Haha the survey is even included as "communication" on the portal.

Hey,
you should check your rochester portal a couple of days before your interview. It should tell you who you'll be interviewing with. The day consisted of a brief intro to the school by the Dean, followed by, in my case, a morning interview, lunch, tour, ethics group discussion session and afternoon interview. There's a lot of free time to check out the school or go to a MS1/2 classes during interview times as well

Does the portal give false alarm, panic inducing post-interview combined degree surveys too?😉

The discussion was very low key. The associate dean of admissions sat in on it. Make sure to contribute to the conversation and not talk over anyone and you'll be golden.
 
I got an Interview Invite today!

California resident

submitted primary app: 06/26
verified: 07/20
received U of Rochester secondary: 07/30 (I added this school after being verified)
submitted secondary: 07/30
application completed: 08/01

new MCAT score came in: 09/06

II: 09/30

+1. Noooot feeling great about that. It looks like a massive wave of rejections went out late October last year, so I'm thinking they'll put me out of my misery soon.
