Around 13% of the matriculants are OOS. Baylor is around 25%.I heard utsw is more oos friendly than most other texas schools. is it on par with baylor (which is still a long shot OOS)?

That's almost 30 OOS students each year.Around 13% of the matriculants are OOS. Baylor is around 25%.
Yup! They interviewed 87 and there were 31 matriculants. It seems getting the II from SW means a very good chance of being accepted. That's almost 30 OOS students each year.
Baylor's class is approximately 25% out-of-state and UTSW is 10 %I heard utsw is more oos friendly than most other texas schools. is it on par with baylor (which is still a long shot OOS)?
13% as I just posted lolBaylor's class is approximately 25% out-of-state and UTSW is 10 %
90% of their seats have to be for IS students by law, so they should have 10% OOS shouldn't they?13% as I just posted lol
I think that's acceptance, not necessarily matriculation90% of their seats have to be for IS students by law, so they should have 10% OOS shouldn't they?
Call the admissions office to check! They are super nice and it will save you a lot of stress. Plus if the requirements DID change you still have time to take one more class (though it is expensive and a hassle so that's annoying). Is it just me, or did they change their prereqs this cycle? I swear it used to be 4 semesters of biology with biochemistry counting as one, but now it seems like biochemistry is its own separate requirement and you can no longer count it towards the biology requirement? Freaking out a little because I only have 3 semesters if you don't include biochemistry, and I've already graduated...

Edit: you are right! They've just confirmed,http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/education/medical-school/admissions/apply/process/prerequisites.html
I don't see a biochemistry requirement separately but it looks like they are saying if you have one biochemistry class, it can be counted for chemistry while it requires a second biochem class to be counted against Biology.
Anybody complete both primary and secondary? I don't see any interview invites (compared to the TCOM thread).
Yeah last year the first interview invite was mid-August from what I remember. They send out interviews much later than other schools according to past threads
Their first interview date this cycle is aug 27 though so hopefully they won't be that late this time around...Yeah last year the first interview invite was mid-August from what I remember.
I just went through my emails from last year, there's nothing in there saying you have to wait until you're verified to submit your secondary. So just go ahead if you really want to. You also could finish it now and then wait until you're verified to click submit.quick question y'all can i submit the secondary before the primary is submitted? I submitted the primary last week but don't want to sit on this 2ndary for too long
I would recommend you turn in your secondary when you have had time to do a thoughtful job with the writing. Although it may not seem like much is happening at UTSW, they are reviewing complete applications. They seemed to favor those who turned in applications promptly last year in terms of interview invitations.so are they looking at stuff right now? Do yall think they start reviewing apps a lot later?
Are you talking IS/OOS? Texas law mandates 90% of acceptances must be Texas residents. They're actually at 13% matriculants cause I imagine SW being so strong and so cheap even for OOS makes the yield a little higher than normal.Anyone know what the 10% stats are for UTSW?
Hey everyone, I was being neurotic this morning and logged onto mygateway. I found that I had an interview invite, but I had not been contacted yet. Anyone else?
Also, is anyone doing the rounds the day before? What is the dress code for that, business casual?

I'm sure it's obvious, but where in MyGateWay did you see that?I also checked MyGateWay and it seems I've been selected for an interview. I'm not sure if I should take any action until an email comes in but I might try contacting the office later today. Hopefully this is true, if it is I'm super excited AHHHH!

If u log on you get directed to like the page where you see blocks right? Like that you press on to access your secondary etc. On the bottom it should say "Interview details" or something along those lines. I pressed that and it directed me to a page to confirm or reschedule my interview.
Wait OMG me too!!!!! I didn't even see that... How long has it been here??

Well the last time I checked was last week. I've noticed on all my other ones the secondary page has been updated before I get the email/call. So it had to be within the last week.
I was offered the 1st and 22nd of October. LizzyM 75.
Just schedule your interview on the portal, why call? UTSW is a coveted interview, go to it!I also checked MyGateWay and it seems I've been selected for an interview. I signed up 9/30. Also for their "afternoon." Great med school, why not get the full experience.Who is doing the rounds?
I also got thOse dates and am going for the earlier one! I'm doing the rotations too!My first II! 🙂
Secondary submitted on 5/25, LOR sent on 6/30. LizzyM 74 IS
I was offered 9/10, 10/15, 10/22 and will probably go for the earliest.
I am debating whether to take off a day from work to attend the Friday afternoon programs, but here is some info from previous year's thread.
"I think you will see plenty of what UTSW has to offer without going to Friday rounds. They'll take you on a couple of hospital tours on the regular interview day as well. I didn't do Friday rounds so I can't speak super knowledgeably but I felt like I had seen more than enough to know that UTSW was awesome with just the regular interview day. Additionally, I would say it is always a good call to interview as early as possible unless the school is totally non-rolling admissions."
And there is no disadvantage to opt out of the Friday programs, but some people who attended the programs seemed to have enjoyed it.
