Hmm I tried following the person's instructions on where to see the interview invite, but I don't see anything. I'm assuming I didnt get one. Just to make sure. I logged on. Clicked the 3rd box(MyApplication). Should it be on this page?

It should be on the first page once u lot on. Instead of having 3 boxes to choose from, you will have 4, with the 4th talking about interview info

Hey everyone, I was being neurotic this morning and logged onto mygateway. I found that I had an interview invite, but I had not been contacted yet. Anyone else?

Also, is anyone doing the rounds the day before? What is the dress code for that, business casual?

Wow I got an II as well! I'm so happy I saw your post! You made my day!

Are we sure the II on MyGateWay without an email isn't a glitch? I just logged on and saw one but my LOR aren't even in yet and I only submitted my secondary last week so I'm a bit skeptical that I would already be getting an II...

Did anyone call in today to confirm?

I just called but I'm pretty sure the office is closed now because no one picked up. I'll try again tomorrow unless someone posts something/I get an email confirmation. I'm so tempted to schedule the interview but I don't want to unless I know it's not a glitch... Just seems too good to be true!

So is the interview on MyGateWay actually real?

If it wasn't, it clearly would be a glitch of epic proportions. I am very certain it's real - as noted above, it's not like everyone got this magic interview tab. Just slightly strange an email did not preempt it. However, I did go ahead and schedule my interview and at that time got an email confirmation for my chosen date. We will see soon I am sure there is no issue.

what are your stats if you don't mind me asking? are they super amazing high that they would result a super quick turn around? and do you have enough LORs in to warrant a review are you app even without your last letter in?

I'm IS with a 74-75 LizzyM. I wouldn't call my stats super amazing high. I have a committee letter so I have no LORs in right now.

Yeah maybe a glitch, but if your committee letter arrived then they probably counted it as complete.

Though I have to agree, if it is an error that it is a crazy one.

It definitely hasn't arrived yet. Still waiting on one last letter to be sent to the committee and then they have to draft and send out the final composite letter.

What would you have to lose by scheduling it? They certainly can't blame you! 🙂 Even if it was a mistake I would snag that as fast as I could. Haha

I just got an e-mail from southwestern with the official interview invite.

Congrats on all the IIs! I definitely recommend going on Friday if you're able to. I had a blast being there for 2 days last year.
Edit: unless you're already missing a ton of classes for lots of interviews and would rather not get too behind on classwork, which definitely sounds like a smart choice

II as well! Unfortunately have to change my interview date to a bit later because of a conflicting one but am excited to meet some of you 🙂

Also, I guess depending on which dates others have selected, the dates offered may shift around for you. Checking after I got the email, I was able to snag an interview date a few weeks earlier than the earliest one I had seen before.

Anyone get the 8/27 date? I saw that was the earliest day on their website, but I only saw 9/10 in the portal.

I got 8/27 but can't go because of another conflicting interview. I was hoping to get a spot the following week or 2 but the earliest date I could choose was 10/1. Apparently we're able to change our date even after confirming so perhaps I'll get lucky and in the next few days an earlier spot will open. Congrats to everyone that got an invite by the way!

Sometimes earlier interviews are a bit overrated. As long as you're there before 11/15 I'm not sure it makes a difference.
Plus being in Texas interviewing in a suit is a lot more comfortable in mid-October.
So if you want an earlier date, hopefully you'll get it, but if you don't end up getting it, don't worry about it too much!

Hey congratulations yall on all the II. Quick questions for those who submitted the 2ndary... " Interested in establishing a medical practice in an underserved area" does this mean opening a clinic or can it also mean working in an underserved area like a hospital. I'm interested in working at an academic medical center and those tend to treat mostly the underserved... any opinions on whether I should check this or leave this blank?

Check it! I want to work in a hospital in the inner city, so similar to you

I will already be in Texas for another interview on Friday. I want to put my best foot forward at this interview, but I also am interested in saving money on plane tickets if possible. Is the Friday portion of the interview mandatory? Otherwise I will need to buy another ticket to fly out two weeks later.

I'm in the same boat with the Friday thing. I don't believe the Friday portion is mandatory (someone correct me if I am wrong). I will not be attending it either.

P.S. If someone does attend and finds out some earth-shattering unknown information (or just anything useful in general) could you please post it on here? Thanks!

100% not mandatory.

I confirm what @Lingering said. Definitely not mandatory. You will have plenty of time to ask all your questions on Saturday, and all the info from Friday will be repeated on Saturday.

Did you click all four? Academic medicine involves all 4... and I feel like it looks weird that I clicked all 4...

I did not click research. I clicked primary care because my end goal is to be a family doctor. I clicked underserved because I want to work in the inner city. I clicked academic medicine because I am also interested in eventually teaching in an academic hospital. I did not click research because, as of now, I don't have enough experiences in research to know if I want it as part of my future career. I know academic medicine entailed research as well but I'm more interested in the teaching side.

I would just look at each of the bullets and ask if you're genuinely interested in that field and also figure out if you have relevant experiences to back up each interest. They could very well ask about your interests in an interview and you don't want to list working with the underserved if you do not want to or if you do not have any experiences that inspired you to do so.

I hope this helps!

Cool thanks for the quick reply... yeah I've done all 4 and I am genuinely interested in doing all of them. I just didn't want to seem like a try hard or whatever good to know thanks! hope to see you on the interview trail

Just got this response from Admissions: '
"Thank you for writing.

The Friday program is not mandatory, but will cover topics and details we simply do not have time for on Saturday. Attendance (or non-attendance) on Friday has NO impact on admissions decisions. This is an opportunity for you to get to know UT Southwestern better."

Thanks so much for finding out!!! You are the best!

Anyone interviewing at Baylor of August 26th and Southwestern on the 27th? Would you be interested in carpooling? My wife and I need a way to get there? Anyone have any ideas of the best way to get from Houston to Dallas without taking a big hit to the wallet? Thanks!

if you dont mind a bus ride greyhound is usually 20-25 dollars one way from Houston to Dallas its actually not too bad its usually around 4-5 hrs long

There is a mega bus that goes nonstop between Texas cities, lots of college kids use from/to Austin.

Does the UT-Southwestern Secondary automatically given to everyone (you just submit it?) or .....it is a screen secondary?

Does the UT-Southwestern Secondary automatically given to everyone (you just submit it?) or .....it is a screen secondary?

You got on their site to fill it out, which means there's no screen. Go on TMDSAS' website at the end. It'll tell you about the secondary status for all the schools.

09/17, 10/01, 10/15, 10/22! I think it'd be best to take the first date!

Yeah I would definitely take the first date if I were you but obviously do what's best for your schedule and financial situation. Good luck to you in September!
