Sure thing,
ORM, 3.8 and 514, in-state. It's actually 20 minutes from my house. 😉

I didn't get any here last year. UTSW's interviews are very conversational.Does anyone know how heavy UTSW is with ethical interview questions? They always give me so much anxiety 🙁
I wasn't asked one either. But, better to be prepared though... you never know.I didn't get any here last year. UTSW's interviews are very conversational.
From attending interview weekend events, I'd say the number has been pretty constant. This past weekend we had a lot fewer interviewees but that's the only time. Other than that I think it's 60-70 or so.Just trying to kill time while waiting for the D-day....
I interviewed on 10/15, and think that there were roughly 70 - 80 interviewees in my session. How many do you think were in your session? I presume there would be less in the earlier sessions as not all applications were in then. October must have the bulk of it.
And yes always be prepared for anything is a good rule to live by.I wasn't asked one either. But, better to be prepared though... you never know.

@MooMoo20 what exactly stresses you out about ethics questions? I went into interviews last year with a fairly well formed opinion on each ethical issue, and whenever they asked I just walked the interviewer through my reasoning. It was pretty straightforward.
Now that I think about it, you are right - it could be 60 -70. I am not very good at estimating. My friend who interviewed on 8/27 said that there were only around 40 to 50 that day. From attending interview weekend events, I'd say the number has been pretty constant. I'd call the admissions office and ask.Is UTSW open to pre-II updates?
Oh yeah those only came up at Dell. I have a book that's really good for those types of questions. It's "Ward Ethics" by Kushner and Thomasma.Sorry, I didn't mean like abortions etc. haha, I mean questions like "oh, your attending messes up, fixes it and asks you not to report it to anyone. What do you do?"
It's good to know it's a pretty relaxed interview though! Thanks 🙂
What do you mean by the panel thing? Interviews are one-on-one here so I'm a bit confused.Multiple people on my day were asked to form a panel for stem cell research. Also I was asked about an ethical issue pertaining to medicine that I cared about.

Most people do but nobody is going to report anything about you to admissions on Friday so it is truly up to you.The II says slacks and tie for clinical rounds, but jacket is optional. Are people wearing their jackets?
I see. That is highly unusual for UTSW interviews but I guess it can happen.I think OP meant they were asking if you had to form a panel on stem cell research who would you put on it

Everyone on my day basically wore what they would wear to an actual interviewThe II says slacks and tie for clinical rounds, but jacket is optional. Are people wearing their jackets?
Ok and it's business casual in the afternoon?Everyone on my day basically wore what they would wear to an actual interview
Just got a II today - so unbelievably stoked and was not expecting it at all!
Yes, but since a lot of the afternoon ppl had also been to rounds in the morning they just continued to wear their full on business attire. But yeah, if you're just coming for the afternoon portion then business casual is fineOk and it's business casual in the afternoon?
I just interviewed this past weekend. No ethical quesitons, but I was asked to choose a controversial topic to talk about. Got asked a similar panel-type question as well.
What exactly do you mean about a "panel-type" question? Interviewing here on the 19th, and would like to be as prepared as possible. It's also my first interview.. ever.. so not a lot of background experience going into this one.
If you had to create a panel of three people on stem cell research to present to the president, who would you pick?
That is the question. It is recycled so I doubt it will change much.
Ahh interesting, this is the first time I've heard of this type of scenario. How would you recommend preparing for this? Would you just be expected to stay up-to-date on medical current events?
Just have a thoughtful response that covers all of the bases in terms of what sort of advice you'd need to make responsible decisions.

What a silly question...If you had to create a panel of three people on stem cell research to present to the president, who would you pick?

well considering who our president is now (or will be shortly)....What a silly question...

Lol. Well hey, as a black female I am no longer certain I am comfortable remaining in the state I was raised in....
So maybe another spot for you all if I end up getting in. Yay.

Got an II for here yesterday. OOS.
Anyone else floating around here OOS with an II? I'm trying to remember how the TMDSAS system works, do OOS interviews not happen at all until November (if I recall correctly?).
Also, does UTSW do rolling admissions or just what?
OOS have been interviewing ever since interview day 1 in late August.Got an II for here yesterday. OOS.

Texas schools can accept OOS starting October 15th, but UTSW doesn't accept anyone (IS or OOS) until November 15th.
It is somewhat rolling admissions but typically almost everyone gets in between mid November and mid December, and then a few pre-matches, and then waitlist.
During my interview in mid October many students reported that the interviewer asked them "How would you fix Obamacare?" During my interview I discussed my experience attending a Catholic university, which provoked the interviewer to ask how I would interact with patients seeking services for medical procedures that I may disagree with. I would expect to get some tough questions in the interview, best thing to do is to prepare.Does anyone know how heavy UTSW is with ethical interview questions? They always give me so much anxiety 🙁
The match doesn't apply to OOS though. In your case it's basically either before New Year's Eve, or not until at least March (or whenever other accepted OOS withdraw and free up spots). That's what happened to me last year.Ok, that November 15th acceptance thing was what got me. The "match" TMDSAS does is confusing to me.
Thanks.
Check last year's thread, I think it was emails at midnight on the 14th and in the few minutes after that. For In State, will the pre-match offer appear in TMDSAS?
Thanks!!Check last year's thread, I think it was emails at midnight on the 14th and in the few minutes after that.
4 more days!!!
Maybe! I came from out of state so my TMDSAS remained completely blank even after I got into Texas schools (in late March and late May). Thanks!!
In last year's thread, some people mentioned "TMDSAS portal". So, I was wondering if there would be a status change in TMDSAS... some kind of a hint may be?
