2016-2017 University of Texas - Southwestern Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think it got a little mixed in with all the posts today, but I interviewed 12/3 and did not prematch. I'm not sure if we were too late to be reviewed yet or not, but don't be discouraged in general

ohhh i thought you prematched as Dec 3. Okay hope restored. I think they still left a few prematches for those who interviewed dec3 and 10th. As well as late november

Just got an interview for 1/7/17 even though I didn't do the secondary. Mistake or???
I'm in the exact same situation, I'm just gonna hurry up and finish the secondary right about now haha. See you on the 7th

Hey guys, congratulations on the prematches! I interviewed in October but I still haven't gotten anything. My LizzyM is 76 so I'm pretty sad. Would those of you who prematched mind sharing your LizzyM scores?

I have a LizzyM of 72 and interviewed in late September!

Congrats guys! Didn't know they were still sending out interviews, mind sharing stats? I'm wondering if there's still hope

That's the last interview date, so I'm guessing those are the last IIs, but who knows?

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO PREMATCHED 😀 So proud of y'all
My LizzyM is 75, interviewed early Nov, and I've heard nothing. Sadness, table for two?

I hear there is a lot of waitlist movement, but I feel like if they passed up on our scores it's just over. Current and accepted students, any comment? This is my dream school and I am debating sending a letter of intent.

If it's your dream school, send it!! It might not end up changing anything about their ultimate decision, but at least you'll feel like you did everything you could. I sent one last year and it was my only source of comfort for many months on the waitlist.

Sadness, table for three! interviewed in Oct, no good news yet. Did they bypass people from Oct?

Does anyone think they will send out more prematch offers? #hopeful

Based on a conversation I've had with admissions, most likely not. If they do, it will be in the next few days. Our holiday break starts Friday.
Hope... Deleted.

Nah but honestly, I've heard there is a lot of waitlist movement. When do they notify students they're on the waitlist? After match?

Thank you idontknowwhatnametopick, you've been so helpful throughout this process. I'm sure you're busy in med school so it's really awesome that you're taking the time to answer our questions. I really appreciate that you've been so informative and supportive to all of us on this page.

I know someone with an almost perfect mcat (LizzyM:83) and a lot of icing on the cake, but did not get prematch from a single tx school.

Y'all. Let's take a breath and stop focusing so much on everyone's stats. Stats are important but they are far from the only thing considered and they in no way guarantee you an acceptance. Everyone who made it to the interview clearly has the academic credentials necessary.
I bet you wouldn't say this if you were that person. But any way I am not focusing on stats but was just surprised by it, so I mentioned it.

The website can be a bit finicky in the beginning I think, while your account gets created and stuff. Not very tech-savvy personally, but whenever I have issues I just call the IT desk and they help me out over the phone. Very convenient. They'll ask for your student ID though, do you have one yet?

Lol I wouldn't, but I would be reflecting on my interviewing skills and how I am perceived based on the way I present myself in person.
The person already got accepted to 4 other top schools outside tx. Please refrain from being arrogant.

Jesus Christ that wasn't remotely arrogant. If anyone
had those stats and didn't prematch in Texas, they'd likely wonder about interview skills (or what the hell went wrong) at that point. No one is knocking your friend (or cares enough to do so).

Please refrain from being overly sensitive.

We are all different and 99% of us will end up being physicians one way or another. I'm sitting here on some solid scores and I didn't prematch to Southwestern either. So, clearly scores aren't everything, which I think is a good thing despite the situation I'm in personally. I think we should just be supportive of each other and trust that everything will work out the way it is supposed to. We're all on this page to share information, there's no reason to get all pre-med competitive when we are all talking about acceptances to medical school. We all had enough of that in college.

Here's to the hail mary that more prematches come out! http://www.bing.com/images/search/?...93C812914E20DFEE2113DEC2B8595AD92&FORM=BRQONH

What makes you jump to the conclusion that someone so perfect must definitely not be good at interviewing. I am not being sensitive, but rather you are trying to be overly authoritative. There is nothing wrong with posting stats. Forums are for awareness, so any info that someone can fill in is helpful. I posted something for information only, not for people to bash someone who they don't even know. You did not have to respond to the post if you didn't like it. You should take it or leave it for what it's worth. So, let's stop now.

I said I would personally reflect... not your friend must be bad at interviewing. Sorry you are unable to tell the difference. 👍 But good call. Onward.

Not dealing with toxic people. Thankfully there is an ignore option.

It's OK if you would want to think like that, but sadly people actually go on believing that "not prematched" implies "lacks something" for sure. I hope pre-meds don't lose confidence in their accomplishments and start reflecting on wrong stuff. The fact of the matter is that most of the schools view themselves as a "safety school" for highly desirable candidates, and therefore do not extend prematch offers. Just wanted to make this point for the sake of awareness.

@idontknowwhatnametopick I know you don't live in an apartment, but how would you personally rank MedPark in terms of quality? I can't decide if I should apply there or look at some of the new places on Maple. A lot of my lab mates live off of Maple and love it.

MedPark is very nice. The pool area is pretty, and the appliances are currently being updated. I think they also recently completed kitchen remodels. At MS0 weekends people who live in apartments will be giving tours, and in the meantime if you'd like to get someone's opinion who lives at MedPark, they're on the 2021 facebook group! I'm sure after tomorrow's final someone will be willing to send you some pictures. The main advantage of MedPark is also rent, and the shuttles.
However if you like something reaaaaaally modern, then the other apartment complexes might be a better fit (but they're also more expensive).

Actually since you live nearby, someone can probably give you a tour over break if you want to see it in person!

Didn't strike on a scholarship like @SydSing but got the letter in the mail today! Still can't believe I got accepted here, it seems like a dream. Check your mailboxes Dec. 12th pre-matchers.

Hey, it's an exciting time regardless! Happy for ya, fellow classmate.

Haha not disappointed at all! Im just glad this is real lol, I wanted the physical letter just to make sure it wasn't a mistake or that I wasn't dreaming LMAO. Congratulations, you earned it! See you next year 🙂

I live in town so definitely lmao. For Nov. 15 pre-matches when did you get the email info for things like MS0 weekend (and I saw @O.T.I. mention something like Day with a Doc)?
I actually saw that my portal updated to include stuff like that, and that's why I asked about it.
