2016-2017 University of Vermont Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks for popping in! I think a lot of us are curious about the timeline of UVMs interviews. Obviously the SDN community doesn't always represent the whole applicant pool, but looking back in this thread, it has been over a month since a significant wave of interviews invites were sent out. Was this the same for your application cycle? A lot of us haven't heard anything since we were first "pooled" as far back as early July, and have been confused about what to expect going forward, seeing as a significant portion of members of this thread haven't heard back yet.
I looked at the 2015-2016 thread. The latest interview invite reported was January 8, and they stopped giving interview invites end of February. Might have interview invites early February still, but it was not reported at least in last year's thread

TLDR: I don't know. I guess we can say for sure that they send them out in batches monthly, and they can send it in segments throughout a week. Given how unpredictable the invites have been beyond that, I'm afraid folks here are going to be kept in suspense throughout the months.

What is this pool? I don't have any message about being put in a pool. I've been complete since late August.

It's a status update on the portal, but you don't get an email about it. It just says you've been preliminarily reviewed and may be selected for an interview. I was complete early August and only got the 'pool' update a week or two ago. It takes a while.

FWIW, I received II in mid-Sept for a spot in early Dec. Not sure if they give everyone this much notice, or just ppl who are way OOS to allow for travel arrangements (maybe I'm a much lower priority candidate with a very early complete date). Either way, I'm focusing on enjoying life and quality time with loved ones, because if we are accepted, then these are our last few months of precious pre-med time. For you all treading water in the pool, remember it isn't Tgiving yet - I know it's so hard, but there is still lots of time left in this cycle, and it only takes one. Someone will want us.

My motto is: Applying to medical schools is like a bowl of cherries and I've got the pits to prove it:wacky:.

Was really hoping for a II on Halloween since I already have my costume.:roflcopter:

Anyone interviewing on November 5?
I'm supposed to interview that day, but I'm considering dropping my spot. Did anyone happen to interview at Jefferson and here, and feels like Vermont also has similar things to offer? I loved Jefferson and got in there, so I was thinking about saving money.

😱Omg it's a bloodbath with medical schools sending out rejections today:blackeye::nailbiting:.

... blood bath this whole week... people are getting axed left and right at GW on a Friday afternoon :rage:

After they do the preliminary review do you move to the pool or get a rejection notice? I've been complete since late August and I'm not pooled yet... wondering if this just means they haven't gotten to my application at all yet, or should I be concerned?

Hello from the other side, hoping of an invite from the inside🙂.

Hey would any current students be willing to read my thank you e-mail? I'm so bad at writing stuff like this without sounding grovel-y

So decisions for people who interviewed on 9/24 should come out on the 24th of October right?

I don't think they ever stated when we would hear back. "In a couple of weeks" was all we got during that last bit before the interview day was over. Hope to hear some (good) news this week!

Congrats!! UVM is such a great school.

I loved everything about it minus the high tuition and being far from home. But I am so thankful to them for giving me this opportunity and would be ecstatic to attend 🙂
