1. I would never crush your dreams of making it through hoops, you deserve to make it through every hoop but -
2. It could be people like me who didn't turn in the secondary
This coming from Ms. "I got into UW so screw that terrible Wazzu secondary" 🤣

But yeah. I agree that's probably a good chunk of the cut. That due date came so quick.

Shhhh...but yeah thats the first and last time that my procrastination will ever save me $50

Phew, thank god they specified late Dec! I was getting so discouraged not hearing anything and praying that the "II out by Dec 15th" wasn't true. Now I can stop frantically refreshing my email... for the mean time lol.

Yeah, sorry for the outdated information! It is what they said earlier, but seems like schedule is delayed. I called them today and they said they would have II out in a "couple of weeks". So late December seems about accurate.

Seems like it's getting pretty late to have no even started sending II's yet - I know they only have about half of the spots as most other places but still....lets get this show on the road! I mean getting Jan/Feb all scheduled and conducted, when it appears like we are coming up on the holiday with no news (and I would assume we won't hear anything until after) seems like it's going to be a bit of chaos

OMG me too!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!

Edit: Selected the very first interview date on 1/6! Hopefully I'll see some of you guys then! 🙂

Edit2: I was complete 12/2 (submitted app 12/1 and received email on 12/2)

Any advantage to picking an earlier interview date? Are the decisions made on a rolling basis?

I got nothing yet. I wonder if they issued all II in one batch of emails or not.

Saw the email earlier at work but couldn't schedule til I got to my home computer. Scheduled interview for Jan 20th, so excited!

Given this quote (credit to Microphile for pointing it out, although I should have just gone to the website myself):

"The Admissions Committee meets at several intervals from January through early April to review applicants and make admission decisions."

I think that they will send out II in batches. Presumably, only II sent out this batch (24 interviewees per day x 5 interview days). This leads me to think that they will send out another wave of II after the January interviews (entirely just speculation though).

I thought it said on the website that all II will be given out before Jan. 1.

It does! I think that they're sending them out in batches, because supposedly close to 300 are supposed to be interviewed. I'm still hopeful 🙂

Guessing no has heard anything from the admin office on whether there will be a number of invite batches between now and the end of the month? Intuitively, this makes sense to me -- rather than having everyone sign up simultaneously.

Of those with IIs, did you have the option to sign up for any date through March, or were your options restricted to sooner?

I only had options for January. I called them today, they said that they were sending the II out in batches, as soon as as a good chunk of apps are reviewed. If you've yet to receive an II, its very likely they just haven't gotten to your app yet. I don't know if there is a logic to who they reviewed first, given that I got an II and I submitted my secondary on 12/1.

Thank you, that is very helpful!

If I were the committee, I would review the apps with the highest stats first, knowing that these people (all else being equal) are most likely to have already received acceptances at other schools.

Well, I don't think that's the case either as my stats aren't the highest. The person I spoke to said that they are trying their best to have another batch of II out by end of week. They also just opened spots for early February interviews.

Thanks for taking the bullet for us!

I'm not so sure. I feel like the ones with higher stats and acceptances already wouldn't be receptive to an interview from such a new school. I think if I were the dean/committee, I'd want to argue for a more mission-based approach. Things like "how sure are we that this person wants to practice in WA" would have to be evaluated.

I would assume the same thing.

I agree with this logic, but if you're going to get those people at all, you have to get them early.

Unless you can offer them an in-state MD program when they've been rejected from UW. It'd certainly hook them with a tough decision to make as opposed to 100% chance they'll go out of state.

Agreed. I guess I'm thinking of the admitted UW student who is weighing WSU. Maybe the two schools are a bit of a toss up, and this person would rather be done with the process. Having them wait till March isn't a good strategy for the adcom.

Cheers to this completely futile (but appreciated) bit of paranoia massaging.

Phew, they still have more IIs to issue.

The Jan 6 spots must have filled quickly. I logged in to pick 2 hours after the e-mail yesterday and the first date was filled. I'll see some of you later next month!

Are most people thinking of driving to their interview or flying? (Assuming you live in Seattle or in the vicinity). Also, I tried searching the website but am wondering if anyone knows of a list of hotels for student accommodation that are cheap and convenient ?

Flying in, driving over the pass could be a bit dangerous in Jan. Flights were only 150 for round trip last time I checked for 1/20! Also will be staying at a hotel near downtown (prices were about 90 a night)

Do you honestly think any in their right mind would turn down a UW spot for a brand new school that isn't even done with accreditation yet?

If WSU created the right kind of incentive then some might... Say something like UCF or UNLV where the charter class got/gets their tuition paid for.

Driving over the pass is the best in January, you could hit up a couple runs while you were at it 🙂
