2017-2018 Michigan State University (MSU-COM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I interviewed here on Jan 24 and I'm working on getting my vaccines/titers done a different school, but I figured I might as well get everything done for both schools together. Does anyone know the requirements for MSUCOM? Thanks!

You technically have until the first day of school to be fully up to date + titers. But if you end up having any issues such as having to redo the Hep B series to get your titers up they allow extensions and just send you a monthly email to remind you to get the positive titer to them as soon as you have it.

If you were curious about which specific titers/vaccines, this link has all the pre-matriculation requirements & instructions for immunization records Immunizations - College of Osteopathic Medicine - Michigan State University

Do any Canadians know when our i20 information/bank account statements are due?? like when they will start asking me for it? Also, when is tuition due? Thanks!

Any way I can get an invite to the class of 2022 Facebook page?

Canadian here. Interviewed on Jan 24 and just put on the first-tier waitlist. Does anyone know how the Canadian wait-list works and if this is a good/bad thing? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Canadian moves independently of the US waitlist. Last year people did come off the T1, but, unlike the T1 waitlist for the US, not every T1 Canadian came off. It is a pretty neutral thing. You still have a shot, but your chances of acceptance are still up in the air.

Hey guys, interviewing 3/2 (I believe it's the last date). Does anyone know if this means I'm interviewing for a waitlist spot or is it still fair game? Pricey pricey when coming from far.

Regardless what you're interviewing for, just do your best. Everything is possible. You got this and I wish you the best!

Rejected pre-II on 2/6. Good luck to the rest of you!

I also received email notification that I am on the 1st tier waitlist. Interviewed Jan 24th. 🙂

I was assigned to first tier also. Do you know roughly how many people get in off the waitlist?

I'm not certain, but I remember them saying that last year they went through the 1st tier waitlist and halfway through the 2nd tier waitlist before they filled the class. I don't remember if that was MSUCOM or another school though. They all kind of blend together for me.

First Tier Waitlist. If I remember correctly, they said that they accepted all of first tier last year?

Anybody have information regarding when waitlist movement usually happens? Hard to tell from past years threads. I was placed on the Tier II waitlist but have other acceptances. MSU is a top choice but the multiple acceptances deadline is May 15th, so will we know about the waitlist prior to that?

So from one waitlist to another. I am currently placed at Macomb and waiting for the EL site to open. Does anybody know how much this new and improved waitlist moves?

For those of you on the waitlist and who have MSU as your top choice, consider writing a letter of intent!

Waitlist definitely moves in March and April, if not now.

Macomb was the only site open when I got in. About several weeks later got offered a spot in EL. Towards the end of May also got offered a spot in DMC (my top choice), but I declined at that point in favor of EL. So it definitely does move. You might only get a day or two to get back to them if you want to switch, otherwise you'll stay where you are.

Question geared more at DMC/Macomb students but could apply to East Lansing as well. Would it be feasible to live ~45 minutes away from my chosen campus site? I could stream lectures from home and only make the trip to campus for required sessions (anatomy/OMM lab, exams, etc.). So essentially what I'm asking is how many days a week would I be required to be present at the campus? If it is only 1-2 times a week I will tough out that commute, but if you guys predict 3-4+ trips a week I need to start looking for apartments. If it means anything my current preferred campus choice is Macomb.

If you're at Macomb, you can just park right outside the building, so you don't have to worry about adding an extra 5-10 minutes of walking from a lot. Right now, I have to come in at least 3 out of the 5 days of the week for required stuff. Some people do make it work with longer commutes, but you have to consider stuff like what if you forget something at home, or winter weather.

Does anyone know how they approach the different tiers of the waitlist? Will they exhaust the first tier before moving to the second or do they just sort of pick and choose?

They go down each tier, so they won't call T2 until T1 is exhausted. The distribution of the past 2 years acceptances has been about 100% T1, 50% T2, 0% T3 accepted. T2 tends to hear around April and T1 is already getting pulled.

That was quick! Just got a phone call, accepted off 1st tier waitlist after receiving the waitlist invitation on Friday! Interviewed 1/24

Wow, that was quick. Did you happen to send a letter of intent?

Does anyone know how they determine who gets called first within each tier of the waitlist? Sorry if this has been asked before!

I’ve never heard anything to indicate how that is handled, but my assumption would be that whoever interviews first is placed higher on the list. Perhaps they rank or group applicants within each tier, but that seems unlikely to me.

Hi everyone, I recently interviewed here (02/16) and forgot to ask this question so maybe you all can help me out. I'm a Canadian and know they have a special tuition set for Canadian students. I was looking online and there is a deadline to send in an application for the scholarship ( that will supplement the tution) on March 1st. I am not sure if I can still apply although I haven't been accepted? Or as an oncoming student are you already considered for this award ?
